Default Flush on Board - Villain Betting to Chop?

    Lock Poker - $400 GTD Deepstack Turbo -- $3 + $0.3 -- 0/15/30 Blinds - 7 Players

Brand new table, but only played a few hands with Villain. Not much to say, as Villain hasn't done much during the tourney thus far. As can tell by the blinds and chip stacks, it's still early too.

    BTN - 5,000
    SB - 5,000
    BB - 5,000
    UTG - 4,980
    MP - 4,920
    HJ - 4,970
    CO (Hero) - 4,980

    Dealt to Hero - A, 5

2 folds, HJ calls, Hero raises to 120, 3 folds, HJ calls

    Pot is 285

    *** FLOP *** A, K, 4

Villain checks, Hero bets 190, Villain calls 190

    Pot is 665

    *** TURN *** 5

    Villain checks, Hero checks

    *** RIVER *** 6

    Villain bets 665, Hero folds

Should I have bet my two pair OTT? The reason I didn't was that I thought I would only be called by a hand that beats me, or even check/raised. I also thought it might be worthwhile to take a free card and hope to hit a full house. I also figured that I might be able to take the pot OTR if a blank showed up, where I could bet for value or call.

I found it hard to believe that Villain was betting to chop, but then again at these stakes they may do that. Then again, I would have hated for Villain to turn over a club and to be the POW.

Good reasoning for not betting the turn.

Good fold on river. Its not fun but you can't be trying to pick off bluffs when as a result you only get a chopped pot

A fold is the right thing to do. You must make a risky investment of 665 chips to win about 330 chips. Not worth the risk. You have plenty of chips left to find better spots

raise>call, i think folding is best

You played it just right. Too early in tournament to be thinking about making hero calls.

Don't hero call for split pots, it's (almost) never a good idea. You could think of c/c on the turn, maybe, but should not bet it. Early in the tournament it's ok played as is.

Kinda hard to c/c in position...

I think you did the right thing, at least I would have done the same. He called your bet at the flop, so he could have had a club... and calling the pot bet at the river meant a significant amount of chips in order to maybe, not probably, just maybe get your bet back.

The other thing is that the tournament is just beginning, so it's not really worth the risk IMO.
