Default Do any of you strictly play MTTs?

If so im curious like what stakes/frequency and like the "rules" u play by. Like, im fairly sure anybody on here practices some sort of BRM.
I'm wondering what your "rules/BRM" are for being a MTT grinder. I am currently playing STT but wanting to switch soon. Not sure if i wanna do one or the other or both. i'm kinda wondering what u guys are doing. maybe give me an idea on where id like to go.
I'm sittin on almost 1200$ right now, ive been playing 11$STTs and mixing in some 2.20/90 and 4.40 180s. No spectacular finishes, few final tables. Gonna move to 22$STT and some higher MTTs, but at some point I wanna stick to the MTTs. So looking for some kind of idea or direction on where to go, what to do. So what do u guys do?

Currently, I only play MTTs and have a 100x bankroll for tourney buyin rule. So if I play a $2.2, I need to have $220 in my BR. As far as I can tell, so far it has been great. Tilting practically goes out the window if I bust because my br dominates my buy in level.

As for "rules" idk what you mean. There is no way to win MTTs more than any other form of poker.

TBO do what is fun for you within your BR limits. For example, I played a $1 hyper turbo rebuy winner take all sat. to the sunday warm up. I would never play these exclusivly but I think its +EV to continue to have fun without a huge risk. Lol I sound like a harra's commercial.

I play cash once in a blue moon but 99% of my play is MTTs. I use a 200 buyin rule for freezeouts and 1000 buyins for rebuys. My advice would be to look for easy tournaments with not that many players entering them, that's your only chance of making a consistent profit. Also play a lot.

haha that harrahs commercial cracks me up "you dont have to take big risks to have big fun" with two thumbs up. hehe.
So for now i think i wanna get past like 2k with the 22/33$ STTs. 1224$ currently. and then start spending more focus on MTTs at the low stakes. I tend to be a bit of a BR nit but 100 to 200 buyins sounds about right. Might starting an OP out of this.

lately i have 300 BIs+ for everything I play regularly, I will stretch to 75-100 for FTOPS/XCOOP events where I feel I have a nice edge. also use that roll for PLO but I'm ridic over rolled there for now.

Also keep in mind that if you muti table tourneys to include this in whatever (x)(buy-in rule) you have for yourself.

What do you mean no? If you play 4 tables @ $2.20 buy ins. Your saying that I am over rolled playing with a $800-$900 BR?

The amount of tables you play at once shouldn't affect your BR too much. If it does, you're playing too many tables.

Even if your newer to MTTs? I guess I was told when I was starting out to add the # of tables into the equation so my risk for going bust would be much less. However, I also dont plan on reloading.

Your statement implies that you need the same bankroll to play 5 tables of $2 tournaments as to play 1 table of $10 tournaments, which isn't true. Playing the $10 tournament will have much more variance. I would say you are overrolled with the bankroll you described.

Your risk of going bust shouldn't go up by much when you add more tables, if it does then you're playing too many tables.

OK, true I get what your saying...Are MTTs buy in rules semi similar to cash games? As in, your goal is to intelligently move up limits as fast as possible?

Yeah, definitely. You want to keep enough money in play that it allows for reasonable growth and so that you don't get into the "Meh, it's only a $1 tournament, f- it" syndrome, while simultaneously managing to not play in tournaments where you're nervous about losing $X. 100-200 buy-ins is a good rule of thumb.

What they say about multi-tabling is true, however, if you're starting to multi-table for the first time, I definitely advocate playing below your normal level just until you're confident you've adjusted to making 4x+ decisions in a same given amount of time.
