What about books that were not written for poker but can easily apply (i.e. psych books)?

Kill Everyone has some very good info in it. Focuses on MTT's but puts a lot of the info in a STT perspective.

The only reason I mention is is because it appears that they've helped me GREATLY in my game after taking a year's break from poker. I used to play the $5s and started breaking into the $10s with a ROI/ITM of ~10%/~42%. I took a break because I was fed up with the newbie spiral of death. After coming back and playing for three months, the numbers have changed dramatically...

    Level ROI/ITM
    $5s = 68%/65%
    $10s = 87%/62%

The reading materials dealt with opening your mind, acceptance, realizing potential, neutrality, and peace of mind among other things. I realize that this number is only after 40 games which is a relatively small sample size, but I know they've helped because I approach the game with a totally different mentality.

Oh, and where do I go to update my signature? I used to know the site, but it's been a while, and I forgot it.

    Hey guys,

I'd still suggest reading HoH 1 and especially HoH 2 ! The chapter on inflection points is one of the most important things to understand and even though both books are mainly focused on MTTs there's still lots of viable information in there.

@ MagyarSHU: welcome back there you go: http://operations.talkingapes.com/ The link can be found in the poker blogs and operations forum sticky.

I have read The Poker Mindset and thought it was very good and well worth a read. More reinforced concepts that I already knew intuitively but the reinforcement was worthwhile.

Otherwise, I agree with the suggestion of Kill Everyone, that was a very good book with an excellent section on "bubble factors" (ie. the divergence between chip value and $ value at various stages of the tourney). Moshman's book is also worth a read, but personally I think the best SNG education can be had on the various online forums.

I've just finished Colin Moshman's book and it's helped my play at $6.50 turbos immensely. Its paid for itself many times over already.

Moshman's book is very good..does a good job explaining the underlying concepts of sit and gos and equity issues. I just finished Gus Hansen's new book and I absolutely loved it...changed my outlook on trny play in a huge way..tho it is probably aimed at advanced players who are skilled in postflop play and can actually make a LAG style work well
