    Default Am I stupid? (lc)

Someone explain multitabling to me. See, most of my poker "career" I've been 2-tabling, since I find 1-tabling just boring. I can do 3 or 4 tables, but really anything over that just drops my ROI considerably, being in the bubble/HU in more than 2 tables just becomes a mess. I would rate my play with number of tables as follows:

    1 - 100%
    2 - 99%
    3 - 80%
    4 - 60%
    5+ - pathetic%

Like how the f do u guys 16-table and other crazy s like that? Btw happy holidays to me, cheers! <gets another beer>

I play 6 and just take a lot of notes. Most of my notes are really short like "Good/Bad". It does get hectic if ALL of them make it ITM, but I'm playing without software and find it pretty comfortable.

People that play 16-24... I imagine they're just bots anyway. lol

Honestly, I started with a single table and had a good stretch but once variance kicked in, I took a look at my hourly and decided I need to play more tables at once. I then moved to 2, then to 3, and then to 4 right now. I'll stay here because I don't like to cascade and I don't have enough screen space for more really.

A little background before I go further into this -- I started as a cash game player and my post-flop decisions were pretty good and I already have a pretty good game there. With SnG's, the more tables you play the more your decisions are pre-flop. I was thinking about this the other day how I've been becoming more of a preflop type of a player. With more tables, you have less time to evaluate post-flop scenarios and make decisions and too many people to acquire reads on. So what these people do is make sure their push/fold games are near perfect and know ICM so that they are making +EV decisions. Without the reads due to multiple tables going, I rely on certain exploitive tactics and high percentage moves that bring in profit in the long run.

Btw, I only 4 table but some of my decisions are becoming automatic to the point that I will soon be adding more....or playing turbos but I'm not sure which yet.

6 tables without software is what I do.... I imagine I can get better with at least a HUD and Wiz.... It just takes a little more focus/fewer distractions.

I' also developed a noting technique that i found helpful. Whenever I see something common, I make an acronym for it so that you can mark a player quickly with it. Some of my notes read like this:

    lappy/bb50
    HBL/bb200
    NPF
    LTAO bb20
    AGHUP...NPF still bb400
    BOFOT/ BOF
    PBW

    In other words:
    Loose passive big blind 50
High Blind Limper Big Blind 200
    No Push Fold
    Limps Trash All Over
Aggressive heads Up Play...no Push Fold Still Big Blind 400.
Bet Orphaned flop on turn/ bets orphaned flop
    Pot bet equals weakness...

(They only get this extensive when I play a player many times...Regs) They help me when I get into a tight situation and need a quick reference. It may be worth giving it a try.

If your playing turbos the only notes that are really going to help are if you can figure out their calling ranges for bvb/button/co shoves. Ex: you see BB call a 10BB SB shove with KJo etc...just make a note that they call light

Once you get up to 6 tables or so its almost like taking 6 SNGWiz quizzes at once...which is why I stopped playing turbos

For regular sngs I've found my ROI drop is pretty large once I go from 2-tables to 4/6 tables...but its a small sample

I play 4 tables at a time when I'm playing the $5.50s, but only 2 at a time on the $11s. This is because I've only recently moved up to the $11s.

My ROI only dropped slightly when I moved to 4 tables at the $5.50s, but this is probably because the other players are so bad. I would think it is a bit harder to 4 table the $11s without dropping some ROI.

I have never tried more than 4 tables. My max. screen resolution is 1440 x 900, so I would have to have cascading or overlapping windows, which I don't want to do.

I, also, would be interested to know how people play 16-24 tables at a time. Do you just get used to it?

Its a bit like anything else, the more you do the better you'll get at it. Dont try adding more than 1 or 2 tables at a time.

I find 4 tables really easy to handle, but 6 depends on how I'm going. Sometimes I handle it well, sometimes I leak like a sieve. If I did it enough I'd get good at 6 and have issues with 8 till I got used to that.
Just dipping my toes back in.

I guess crystal meth is your friend?
I sometimes 6,7,8 -table, but I go down 2 or 3 limits to do it, it's just for fun, and I play like a donk.
I usually play 2-4 but my game goes way up if I just concentrate on one table. 2 is not so bad, but my win rate is still higher when I'm just at one at a time.
Unfortunately there are never 26 1$ sng's available at Party, if there were I'd put Eye Of The Tiger in repeat and give it a shot.

    Lol he's down $40k.

As far as playing 16-50 tables, most people use hotkey scripts so you don't have to use your mouse so much

It's probably worth mentioning that I play very different at 4 tables + cash game. I'll start at full ring - look for a table where lots of people bought in for the max and play aggressive, and I'll just sit there and wait for a good spot. At 1 table I usually sit down with just a couple of players or start a new table so I get to know the players as they come in, and I play much better poker that way. I'm also usually much more aggressive. I think I can safely be labelled as maniac 1-tabling.
With SnG's not so much. I just play worse, period.
At one table I usually remember the last hand and general tendencies of each player. My recall becomes exponentially worse the more tables I play, and I don't use any additional software.
I am absolutely in awe how some of the guys in the video section here manage to keep track of 4 tables full ring.
