    Default A9 hits a 9 on turn ($30)

Been a while since I played any poker, and since there haven't been many hands posted recently (Black Friday anybody?) I thought I'd post this.

Opp was pretty loose, stats something like 48/17 over just under 100 hands. Opp had tightened up a little as the blinds increased (but VPIP still around 30 at 75/150 and above).

Check behind on the turn and try to get a bluff bet out of him on the turn, or bet for value?

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 30 Tournament, 100/200 Blinds (3 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Hero (Button) (t5566)
    SB (t3683)
    BB (t4251)

    Hero's M: 18.55

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, 9
Hero bets t500, 1 fold, BB calls t300

    Flop: (t1100) 6, 2, 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t650, BB calls t650

    Turn: (t2400) 9 (2 players)
    BB checks, Hero ????

    Welcome back, long time...

I assume it is 9 handed and not 6 handed

I would bet the turn, you might induce a bluff, but he can have anything from 6 outs (2 overs no A) to 9 outs (54,64 etc...), and given his line so far it is very likely he will check-fold and non favorable river

Also given the stack sizes a bet on the flop will set you up nicely for a river push if a non scare card hits.

put him on a range that calls the flop, decide what % of those hands call turn.

By betting again in this spot, it's tough to extract value out of a 6 or 5 that might call a flop bet. With few draws, this seems like a decent spot to check behind and pick off a bluff on the river.

You should be asking yourself why is he calling your bet after the flop? If he is loose then he probably has over cards or hit a pair on the board. If he called your cbet then he will probably call you down to the river unless you over bet the pot and end the hand right there. I would have made a bigger cbet on the flop, say 3/4 of the pot then you would know for sure where you stand. If you are willing to bet again on the turn then you should have just raised more on the flop in the first place. If he called a bigger bet by you post flop then he has to have something. Do you know how he perceives your playing style? What has he seen form you in the past? If you are playing tight aggressive then he has to have some hand to call your bet. If you consistently bet half the pot on the flop then he may be playing you and looking to take this pot from you on the turn or river. Keep in mind how you play appears to him. At his stage in the tourny he too has a good idea of your style of play. Once you know the answers to these questions then can you decide to bet or check-down this hand.
