youre right, this is pretty unusual line, looks like youre pot controling the flop and turn, and then decide to vbet river...doesnt make sense to me..i would either cbet then shut down or if taking ur line flop&turn, i would definitely check behind...i would hate to be raised, but it would be an easy bet fold once u lead riv i guess...

Looks good, pretty hard to imagine you're beat when he checks the river, might as well take a stab hoping he calls with worse.

I think if you have a better read on him (where you know what to do if raised) you should usually bet the flop but vs. an unknown I can understand checking back.

hmm, I usually make it 5700-5800 pre.

This line feels solid... though, I'm a wimp and I wouldn't vbet the river without more history with him. I'd use this hand to see how comfortable he is in the BB.

These spots are interesting because I wonder what the difference is between:

    A) Betting the flop and calling a raise

    vs

    B) Checking a flop and calling a turn bet (your line)

I tend to think betting the flop makes for an easier thin value bet on the river. If you get called you can always check back turn and be in a great spot to make a good river call. In game I probably would have played it like you did.

At first I didn't think he would have much Qx in his range after betting >50% on the turn (making a small river bet not very useful), but I'm okay with it now. I still think you could go bigger and Qx will still decide to herocall a similar %.

If the river is a blank I think betting 2/3rds is way better than your <1/2 because its harder for you to rep made hands
