Default 2NL 44 HU IP AI OTT for protection?

    BB: $5.16 (258 bb)
    Hero (SB): $6.32 (316 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4 4
Hero raises to $0.06, BB raises to $0.21, Hero calls $0.15

    Flop: ($0.42) 8 K 6 (2 players)
BB bets $0.27, Hero calls $0.27

    Turn: ($0.96) 2 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.50, BB raises to $1.75, Hero raises to $5.84 and is all-in

The stats I had on this guy (22/18, 5% 3b if I remember correctly) pointed to him being a sensible player, however after about 10 hands it became apparent he was either tilting like mad or drunk. Or both. He'd been 3betting me pre about 75% of the time in this game, raising post flop a huge amount, and basically betting every chance he got. His bet timing was instantaneous like 80% of the time.

So to the hand, I probably butchered this so I'd like to hear some thoughts on how other people play this. I called the 3b pre because I felt that had I hit a set I would be able to get his stack a LARGE percentage of the time, not to mention I could probably call down profitably on many good runouts?

The flop I called because he was literally cbetting 100%, his range is super wide there.

The turn is probably a check back and call the river? As played, I thought that given how he was playing he still has a really weak range and that this might qualify as a decent spot to jam for protection?

Anyways, like I said I probably butchered it.

    Thoughts?

Fold flop. Pokerstove your equity vs even a very aggro range for the opponent and I'll be shocked if you have greater than 35% equity. Add to the fact that 44 on K86, even with a spade, will have a terribly hard time realizing what little equity it has.

The turn is extremely bad. You're just in such bad shape when he's not bluffing, and even when he's bluffing he'll often have 14 outs. I like your bet, not for protection but to bluff and with the intention of bluffing the river if he check calls. It's not a protection or value bet though, although it might have a small element of that in it's EV.
