[10NL] KK w/ top set...weird action.

    Default [10NL] KK w/ top set...weird action.

    Villain is 26/23 with 5% 3bet over 103 hands.

    PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    Hero (CO): $10.00
    BTN: $10.70
    SB: $2.92
    BB: $19.37
    UTG: $12.55
    MP: $25.72

SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.15) Hero has K K

fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.30, fold, SB calls $0.25, BB calls $0.20

    Flop: ($0.90, 3 players) 7 3 K
SB checks, BB bets $0.40, Hero calls $0.40, fold

    Turn: ($1.70, 2 players) T
BB bets $0.50, Hero raises to $2.45, BB calls $1.95

    River: ($6.60, 2 players) 9
BB bets $16.22 and is all-in, Hero ???

I'm not even sure where to start in analyzing this hand. Villain donks - I usually take this to mean villain has a weak made hand or a draw. Something like KT/KJ or A7.

The turn gets weird - look at villain's sizing. I don't even know how to interpret that, maybe something like a pair with a big heart looking for a cheap river? I raise to avoid villain seeing river cheap and to get value from my hand. Villain flats.

Now he jams river and I'm left thinking...what the fuck just happened? I don't think villain ever plays a flush this way - why not just GII on turn when I am showing strength? On turn, I thought he might have had a set and didn't want to give up betting lead with a strong hand but river jam excludes that possibility I think.

    I don't know. I need help.

Rasie flop is super standard here, I have no idea why you're letting him peel so cheaply on this flop when he donks and you acknowledge this means draws a lot of the time.

As played I guess I sigh call this but I'm far from thrilled about it. I expect to see flushes and sets.

I think I raise this some of the time as well but I wanted to keep SB in pot (passive fish). I should have included that in OP, my bad.

Regardless of SB, we're still crushing this board and I think raising scares away our action a good amount of the time no?

You're playing this kinda backwards imo.

Calling flop when you're for sure ahead, and raising turn when you're often behind. Also your turn sizing is pretty big imo, to the point where he's likely only continuing with flushes (given you block Kx so bad). Wouldn't mind this sizing as much if you had 777/333/TTT and he could have all Kx in his range.

This is just a flush so often imo, esp after you show turn strength. Axhh imo.

I don't mind scaring away SB when he has nothing he can pay me with.

Raise flop, flat turn, re-eval river. As played, flat turn, fold river.

That donk bet mostly means flush draw or top pair with a bad kicker, since you have KK it's not common for the villain to have top pair, so i put him on a flush draw. Now when the third heart hits the turn i would be calling here, your raise is very big and can cause you a trouble like this one, river all-in is a guessing game i always hated. As played i'm folding the river.

If he is no donk which overplays TP, 2nd pair and moves in with bluffs very often I would put him on a good flush.
It's hard to fold this good hand...

if flop was 773 or k77 or a rainbow board sure, flatting is perfectly fine. but on that wet of a board I would tend to raise here, also we need to think of the fact that villain is 26/23 which means what range is he really flatting pre OOP? probably small pairs like 88-22 and suited aces. that alone would make me raise slightly more as I expect him to have pretty much sets and FDs. you have the blockers for TP aswell so that just confirms my previous statement. raise flop, eval turn. as played I would be like FML, why didn't I raise flop? now look at me, going in the tank with this guessing shiet.

    Over 103 hands...

Has he made a river overshove previously? Have you called a river overshove without the nuts previously? Has he seen you tank fold to an overshove previously?

I feel like when I see these kind of bets, villain is saying one of two things...
    a) I have the nuts,
    b) you're only calling the nuts.

If he has a really solid read that you're folding non-nut hands, well he could be doing this with the nut blocker Ah.

We're talking about a 26/23 here... solid stats, he's very probably playing the HUD game and referring to his notes.

Either he thinks you're not capable of folding big hands, or he thinks you are. Which is it? There's your decision.
