It used to be at the bottom, and the justification for moving it to the top was to make the forum more newbie-friendly and user-friendly. I suspect that the explanation for moving it to the bottom is the same.

Because all the regs that used to populate this forum have decided to post in just two threads once a week and spend their internet days elsewhere. If the commune has the traffic the commune will go to the top.

The FTR regs put it at the bottom.

FTR needs traffic, and the commune is not conducive at this time to traffic

The Great Fire of London was the opposite of a disaster. Sure it resulted in many people suffering a horrible painful death, but it also went quite some way to wiping out the plague in London, so it actually had the knock on effect of saving a great many more lives.

Now I've spouted my vague memories about what I learned at school over two decades ago, I checked to see if my comments have any factual basis. While there were no major plague outbreaks in London after the fire, it disappeared from most other major European cities around the same time. And the slums where most of the rats and fleas were escaped the blaze, so it's questionable.

Still, I was fucking there so I know, don't argue with me.

Yup, which is why you're saying "is" instead of "are", because noone ever went on a shooting rampage after someone disrespected grammar.

Grammar is a tool to convey ideas from one mind to another. If the message was conveyed, and you're hung up on the grammar, then you're doing it wrong.

It was intentional. This way it conveys a subtle nuance of internet speak. Believe.

I do everything wrong. Except grammar.

It drives me crazy that people get so bent out of shape about "its" versus "it's" and "could care less."

I'm all: "Interesting you say that 'I could care less' is a 'meaningless' statement because I just said it, and you knew what I meant so precisely, that you actually relayed the meaning back to me. Maybe you should learn the meaning of words like 'meaningless' because you'll be disappointed to find that when you immediately recognize the meaning of something it doesn't qualify as 'meaningless.'" Etc.

I do think misapplied quotes and ellipses can be confusing though. It's taken a long time for me to realize that when my dad emails me, "Thx..." he's not trailing off into some inaudible snide remark. I still don't know what he means by it, but it's not that apparently.

I fed the dog the cat and the bunny.

I fed the dog, the cat, and the bunny.

Some things drastically change the meaning... even still... a little context goes a long way to clear up any actual confusion.

In my experience, the people being corrected are usually the ones getting bent out of shape.

Sometimes grammar doesn't help at all. For example:

"finger puppets": Am I a charming entertainer of your daughter or a sick bastard destined for prison?
"I had her head in my lap": Am I a charming entertainer of your daughter or a sick bastard destined for prison?

    WHICH IS IT?!?!

Here in the UK we have signs by schools that say "SLOW CHILDREN CROSSING".

How I laughed at the lack of comma as I ploughed into four retarded kids at 55mph.

Your fake stories would be taken more seriously if you punctuated them properly.

And OngBonga has a homonym problem,
the children don't have learning difficulties, they just haven't had their weetabix yet,
or their junk food obesity causes them to be sluggish.
