Just went to see Rampart. Three girls in the row directly in front of me were drunk (still drinking, but to clarify I was drinking too, but not quite drunk, and certainly not as drunk as them) and talking through the movie. A guy a few seats over shushed them, then snapped a little later and quiet yelled through clenched teeth (think George Costanza) to "JUST SHUT UP!" I guess enough liquid courage got into me, and the next time one of them talked, I kicked the back of her seat real good. Almost instantly the one next to her started to object and I kicked her seat too. I'm really not sure that this was the proper play, as they just got belligerent and lolthreatened, "if you hit our seat again, I'll hit you" or some such nonsense. I laughed it off and told them to shut up and maybe my foot wouldn't slip again. I guess I was on edge due to the audacity of these girls, so as soon as one whispered again I gave a good strong kick. They really got riled up then. My friend, who as far as they knew was the one or one of the ones who kicked their seat, tried to calm everyone down and asked me quietly to cut it out. So since my friend asked me to stop, I did. When the movie ended they mouthed off some and tried to stare us down. Despite not believing in karma, I told them to enjoy the karma induced aids and cancer they were sure to get, and let them know that they were miserable lowlifes for ruining the movie for everyone else.

I'm almost sure that a less aggressive response, and possibly no response at all was a much better play, but I enjoyed the altercation and I'm pretty sure I'd do it again.

So, a couch surfer is currently staying in my apartment. It's a long story, but I am subletting from the lease holder for fairly cheap, the location is good, and while I don't really feel compelled to hang out with my roommates, I also don't have any grievances beyond minor annoyances. So I don't really object to the couch surfers, and really the few that have been here, I barely even notice.

This one though. Oh man. She is constantly here, she is into that whole raw food/smoothie lifestyle/diet, she doesn't read emails or articles or recipes or whatever-- she fucking listens to them on her cellphone with the robot voice thing verbalizing them. She is CONSTANTLY munching on carrots or celery or whatever. She is always in the kitchen. This is just absurd. This chick must have the lowest level of social awareness of anyone I've ever met.

My roommate (the lease holder) has said that if the couch surfing thing ever gets on my nerves, to just let him know, and I've just brushed it off so far. But I think I'll actually have to be an end to this shit...
