I think the only thing I can think of would be mandatory health savings accounts. This would be because young people or just people in general might not understand health related risks as well as a group of policymakers might. Of course that begs the question that the policymakers would only know better if they were put in power by the private sector that knows better enough to put the knows-betters into power. The idea that government can make a better world than the private markets may be a tautology. |

All that's been presented is a case of a dishonest non-disclosure. I haven't seen any definitive evidence of malice. The dishonesty was caught, punished, and corrected. What should have happened instead? |

That would probably require enough people discarding the anti-market bias so that they don't encourage intrusive government. |

the fuck are you talking about! Chromecast only works with chrome and youtube. If you want to quantify functionality, the steam link does everything chromecast does plus games. And it costs as much as a fancy loaf of bread.

I'd be playing Witcher 3 if it weren't just beyond my new 'puter's specs. I've been watching a youtube series that's over 100 episodes in at this point @ ~30 min each. Tons of content.

I've been doing some research into VR and I apologize if some of this is shit because I've been awake for 20+ hours trying to fix my sleep schedule from new years, and I'm easily entertained right now. I've been clicking through all the recent VR posts from the lifestreamfail subreddit and my lungs are hurting from laughing:

If you can create a generic sandbox map, the bugs can be turned off at world gen. Having done so, turn off pollution, too. Pollution's only purpose is to trigger the bugs to attack.

Path of Exile is my jam. I'm trying to beat it without using any trades and while only using the kind of build I find fun (as opposed to one better suited for beating the game). Very hard. |

My new character this league might be my final attempt to beat all the content. I'll probably level up to 92 (the highest I've gotten), then stop trying to level anymore and instead try to complete the content using lots of deaths. There's a penalty to experience when you die in the late-game, and I always wanted to get a character up to 100, but it's so damn hard. Most builds that can finish endgame can do so around level 90. The people who do it in the permadeath league get to 100 or close though. |

Path of Exile is free to play. That and it being based on Diablo 2 (which I loved) is why I started it. Got hooked pretty quickly. |

Speaking of Diablo2, was anyone else active in hardcore, with the resetting ladder every few months? That shit was so much fun/so stressful. Going back to normal was like going back to play money tables.

I guess I've been overlooking that one because I've been burned by highly stylized platformers too many times before. But also some of my favorite games of the past have been highly stylized platformers.

Yeah, d2 had essentially the same thing. I forget if we used logout macros or just alt+f4. I think the key that kept it fun was that the ladder reset regularly, and being on top, or towards the top, at any given point gave you bragging rights and I think a special avatar in chat (beyond the hardcore red halo). Because of the reset and the incentives to be at the top, you kinda had to push your character and balance the risk of dying vs the reward of big XP gains. If you just played it safe where you could never get caught off guard and have your HP drained in seconds, you'd never be competitive.

Only watch these if you've either been in VRchat and you do know the way, or you don't know the way but you also really don't care to know the way, then watch these. But I would consider these massive spoilers for VRchat. Yes, spoilers for VRchat. Go check it out if you haven't already

Main problem with Witcher is I want to play a game not watch a movie. I try to play games the way they are intended, consume majority of content, take it somewhat easy to soak it in and figure it out. Doing that, I had only two straightforward fights in 1:30 of play time. Not fun. |
