    Default Free card

    Hi all,

This is a great site + forum, I've learned a lot so far without contributing, so I thought I'd chip in and get this question answered:

I have a flush or straight draw and am on the button, with the turn or river to come. Everyone checks in front of me. Under what circumstances should I semi-bluff and when should I take the free card?

    Thanks in advance,

I'd probably bet there hoping to win it right there, plus with the bet on the flop, it would probably be checked to you again on the turn, where you can check it for a free card. I'm sure Fnord has a list of conditions hes willing to share

No conditions, unless it's an exceptional cirumstance. Bet it out. No reason to draw to a hand if no one likes their hand enough to pay you off if it hits. Like Rage said, by betting out you will often get a "free" river card. Also, if you're called and hit your card you create a bigger pot, setting up a stronger value bet. Particularly if it comes on the turn.
