I would raise pre, not post... here's why... pre, he could be throwing out a rather 'tame' bet for many reasons... blind steal, feeler, etc etc... he could do so with A-rag, small/mid pair, maybe even KQ / KJ... so by raising and noting his response, you get a much better read on what he has then doing the same post... if you wait until post flop to raise, he now knows if any of his cards hit, and if he's really aggro, he fires as soon as he matches something... once you raise pre if he 4 bets, you dump... usually he'll flat call... then read what he does once the flop comes... btw, not that i would, but folding A-10 if he bets big is not the worse fold in the world... in any tournie situation, you dont want to be calling down hands which can easily be losers........... Opp might fold or raise (in which case you can easily give up) but what if he flats and the flop comes like it is? I'd need a whole lot of metagame, reads, table image etc. to 3-bet ATs preflop in this spot.
