Well, I'll be able to get my money. So thats a good thing. I cashed in all of my FPPs on last Friday and will cash out my roll of $30.5k

    April is...over...

I was feeling very good about my game at midstakes 6m too. Going to be going to Turning Stone in Central NY a few times a month now probably. I also think I will be investing a few K in partypoker stock in hopes that the US legalizes poker sometime in the near future and party comes back.

I totally feel for you cbat. you were beating MSNL and moving up the poker ladder and now the government has gone and fucked it all up

Plus now that online poker is on the shelf I'm going to be careful not to sit in live games with players like you!

You'll do fine! I'll keep this blog somewhat updated with irl stuff and my random trips to the casino. Just cashed out my roll yesterday and sent in my ID, so hopefully that'll be hitting my account soon. Also have an interview for promotion coming up.

Thanks! Probably won't be for a week or two, already did the phone interview which is kind of just a screening and I believe it went very well.

On another note: I will be going to Turning Stone today to play some 2/5 this afternoon/evening/night. Should be fun. I've been studying some, so I still feel sharp. Also been teaching a little bit (girlfriend and friend). My game still feels as if its at one of the best points I've ever been at.

If I could get there more. But as of right now, it looks like I'll be going about once a month is all, so that'll be a buzzkill on total winnings =\

Well, I've just got a promotion! To sum it up:

(9:55:13 PM) cbat28: portfolio management associate
    (9:55:16 PM) cbat28: which isssss
(9:55:38 PM) cbat28: basically there r 4 portfolio managers, for key private banking
(9:55:44 PM) cbat28: they each have ~400 accounts
(9:55:55 PM) cbat28: and key private banking is for people with over 1 million in assets
(9:56:09 PM) cbat28: and I'm the 4 portfolio managers assistant
(9:56:22 PM) cbat28: and I get to learn everything that they do and will eventually get accounts moved towards me as I become more comfortable
(9:56:26 PM) cbat28: and 2 of em worked in my spot
    (9:56:27 PM) cbat28: years ago

So basically, it's not a glamorous job, but it's exactly the direction I want to be heading towards and it is a nice pay raise. And I am extremely excited to move towards my career goal and learn as much as I can.

On the poker note, BooG and I have set up a staking deal and although I've been informed I'm an idiot for giving BooG such a good deal due to my track record at cash games, I'm okay by it because I'm compensating him for having his money tied up in the US, which was something I wasn't willing to do. Also I'd like to keep my game sharp for casino trips and in case legalization happens. http://www.flopturnriver.com/pokerfo...ge-187230.html

I'll post more frequent updates here than in that topic, which will consist of official updates on Sundays. I'm playing .5/1 6m ATM and today I was just getting familiar with the interface and setting up HEM. Also I definitely want to get the ipad2 since its there for the taking and I'll need to average a measly 333 hands per day for 60 days. I'll be giving it to my lovely girlfriend since shes been wanting one for a little while now.

    Day 1:
    Hands: 195
    +/- : +$33.80

Congratz on the new job! Can you give us a background on what you did in the previous position day-to-day, how u got the job, what your ideal job would be?

Portfolio management is prob what interests me most in finance so would be really cool to have some more info on the day to day stuff.

Thanks Alexos. I graduated from college with a Finance degree and I am currently working as a bank teller. I applied for the job internally through our career page because it looked like an awesome opportunity and I met all of the qualifications. So my day-to-day operations are that of a normal teller.

I believe I got the job because I showed so much interest in the field. I've also been educating myself through reading and picking everyone's brain that works with investments at the bank. So I used a lot of the information that I've learned over the last few months in the interview to show him that I did have some basic knowledge of the market and would be a great asset to the team and extremely willing to learn.

My ideal job for a few years down the road would be to move up as a portfolio manager for these high net worth clients. But my long term goal, honestly I'm not 100% sure, but I think it will become more clear as I progress throughout my career and also get more acquainted with the job I was just hired for, which I will start sometime next month.

PS: I didn't proofread any of this as I'm headed out to work now.

PPS: Poker update: Played a little bit this morning for about 35 minutes. I felt more comfortable and was 5 tabling too.

    5/18 Morning Session
    Hands: 254 hands
    +/- : +92.15

    5/18 Afternoon Session
    Hands: 375
    +/- : +71.16

    5/19 Morning Session
    Hands: 230 hands
    + / - : -$273.64

Made a bad call for a stack and didn't win any nonshowdown pots =\

I actually won't be playing until Sunday again because I've got a lot going on in the next few days.

Thanks man, not in immediate future that I know of, but I definitely want to get it.

Went to Turning Stone last yesterday. Played about 8 hours of 2/5 for a solid +27. Was stuck about $800 after sometime thanks to a terrible riverbluff shove and a little run bad. I eventually asked to move seats because the guy sitting after me had about $4k at the table. After switching seats I got in some more favorable positions and did well. I also realized I start getting a ton of respect after I've been at a table with the same people for sometime, which I obviously use to my advantage to barrel barrel barrel.

I've only played about 1k hands at Lock Poker (sorry BooG had a very busy weekend). I'll be getting back on it over the next four days. With my goal being about 1k hands per day if possible before I make a trip for my birthday this Friday

    Good times!

Played in an underground poker game last night. It was a $40 tournament with 64 players. Honestly not sure how much went towards rake, but they served a ton of food, so I was more than happy after busting out in ~55th place JJ v AJ AIPF in CO v SB.

I then played some cash. As people busted out they had 3 cash games going of 1/2NL with two must move tables. Did pretty well in the cash game...the skill level actually seemed to be better than that of Turning Stone, but it was still nothing too difficult. I'll probably be attending about once or twice a week and just playing mostly cash (because I'm horrible at donkaments).

I've had to settle for poker clubs as well. This one I attend is a degen donkfest. Funsies!

I went again last night and dropped about a buyin at 1/2. I didn't play the tournament and plan to do the same everytime I go. I ran a big bluff in 3bet pot as villian flopped middle set and priced myself in unfortunately... and lost a 40/60 std flip on flop for 3/4 of a stack. I felt that I played well minus the mistake in the 3bet pot by not focusing on villians stack size.

Had a great weekend with T, makes me miss her more and 1 week until new job starts!

Started my new position today with the bank. Small Sample Size: going to do well and learn a ton and definitely room for growth within the private banking sector.

Also played last night in the underground game and +232bb ftw. Hit top set in 8way raised pot for about 300bb pot. Max buyin is 150bb and I plan to do that from now on as I like the preflop freedom vs larger stacks.

First week at the new job almost in the books. Getting my computer today, so that'll be nice. Just trying to get everything situated and clean up the mess the last guy left.

Played poker for about 4 hours last night for +33 bux. Got caught 3 barrel bluffing when river hit such a small part of his range forcing him to call.

Hey buddy. Hope your live grind is going well.

I'm not positive if you have an Android phone or not but if you do, download 'Poker Session Logger' for your phone. It's an easy way to keep track of your win/loss record.

I have the iPhone and don't see it anywhere. I just use an excel sheet that I enter into when I get home from playing. I wish there were higher games spread somewhere locally. Gotta travel 1.75+ hours to get anything higher than 1/2 as far as I know.

Updates coming soon. Nothing too crazy going on, workin that 8-5 and keeping consistent with the weight room. My girlfriend moved in for the summer and is working nearby. Everything has been going good here. She's going home to visit her family for the weekend, so I'm going to hit the links with dad and go to the casino for a day or two and play some POKER!

    lol golf...

Woke up at about 7am to go golfing with the fam on Saturday. Played the worst round of the year. I probably lost close to double digit balls off the tee >_< needless to say I stopped keeping score halfway through the front 9. Hitting the ball high and 300 yards is not always a blessing because as it goes offline, the height of my shot makes the ball seem as it just keeps going. Anyways, I finished the back 9 with two pars and a bogey, so that made me at least somewhat satisfied.

    All in, 100bb more...

I then ventured to the casino with a friend and a friend of a friend. My plan was to play Saturday afternoon/night and then come back Sunday morning and get another 6-8 hours of grinding in. Well Mr. friend of a friend wasn't a poker player and complained about the idea of going back the second day so I only got to play one day. About 10 hours worth of 2/5 where I battled my way to ship a $76 win.

Started off with a little bit of 1/2 and I picked up some small pots. I lost a ~100bb pot with AA, when I barreled all 3 streets in the cutoff vs BU on JKQ74 board. Villain called river reluctantly and I flipped AA, I made a comment to the guy in the blinds who joked about me being a chop blocker, the dealer began gathering the chips together, and then villain slowly flips over K7. I look at him and ask him "really gunna slow roll me like that?" He claims he thought he had K3...No more than 3 hands later I get called over to 2/5.

I build up a nice little 150bb stack in the first hour and am sitting in the BB. The CO who was playing about 40/30 and had raised a couple cbets already made it 4x. I 3bet 4x to $80 and he flatted. Flop came 7c2h3h. I sat on AQ, I cbet $80. He thought for about 90 seconds and made it $210, I then shoved my stack for about 100bb more. He tanked for a little while and called. He flips 56hh and I am excited about how good of a position I'm in. Turn black......river 8h ldo FTL.

Anyways I rebuy/tilt/topoff, etc. Eventually I double up about 70bbs with TP2ndK and a flush draw, all in on flop vs a weaker FD. Then at about 1am I pick up QTs in CO+2 I made it $20 all day and get called by CO and BU. Flop comes T64tt, I cbet $40 and they both insta call. Turn Q, I make it $120. Cutoff folds and BU calls. At this point I'm sitting with about $350 left behind. River is a J and doesn't complete either FD. I ponder for a while and eventually knowing he will not call me with worse, but will bet his whole range here, as he was a pretty nitty older man and would only be calling turn with a FD or a set -_- Anyways, sure enough he shoves, I tank/call and flip over my QT and he mucks. I play for another hour, bleed off some chips and walk away with $76 extra dollars for my 10 hours of work. Just beat minimum wage. GG
