ESPN Releases Results of Fantasy Draft

ESPN’s team of poker drafters selected and published their draft picks for ESPN’s fantasy poker league dedicated to the 2013 World Series of Poker. WSOP this year will consist of 62 bracelet events and will begin on May 29. In this draft, 80 players were selected by ten drafters over eight rounds, top three picks going to Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, and Eugene Katchalov.

The ESPN draft is conducted according to a format similar to other pro-league drafts where picks are made following some predetermined order of eligibility; in the case of ESPN’s poker draft it is last year’s cumulative performance of a drafter’s selections. Similar to other sports, poker draft picks represent a player’s perceived mastery of the game and the ability to win bracelets and cash. Of course, these expert picks are also very useful to anyone playing fantasy poker.

Caesars Entertainment Plans to Launch Own Poker Site this Summer

Caesars Entertainment Group will go live with an online poker offering in Nevada “sometime this summer” and will use the World Series of Poker that it owns to promote this service, according to the company’s spokesman Seth Palansky. There are some speculations in the industry that Caesars will try to launch a poker site during the WSOP, but Palansky did not confirm or deny these rumors.

The website will operate on the technology developed by 888 Holdings Plc., who provided software for WSOP’s British, French, and Italian sites.
As an indication that the launch date is, perhaps, not too far away Palansky added: “It's going to become very competitive in a short space of time. There will be more offerings in the market place.”
