Ah that's cool. Should you ever find yourself in Leuven, or in Limburg, more specifically Genk, Hasselt or thereabouts, be sure to hit me up and we can go for a drink. Never met someone from FTR before.

As for my trip to the unibet open, I missed the first qualifier this sunday. I told my friend my policy was we'd only play for it with money we won, so we just did some satellites but didn't make it. Took a satellite into the 75k guaranteed though, which we proceeded to win. First place 15600 euro, 7800 each. So now I have a big instant bankroll and I'll be doing all the qualifiers on sunday from now on! Already won a satellite yesterday so that I'm the qualifier for next sunday. And yesterday I went to city hall to get a travel pass.. get that good karma flowing

I recently bought a pair of earbuds with an in-line mic. Worn properly they kept falling out. L in right ear and R in left ear they fit perfectly.

the trick the mind plays on itself is that it looks at what you really want which it wants to kick you off of, then it says "but thats not what you really want, this is: but this is something less than that yet you cant get it." so then you're in a neverending spiral of lowering expectations but never even seeming to be able to meet them. the solution is to just reach for the stars. then you'll get what you want or die trying

Hahaha, was too funny/awesome/random/disastrous to be true.

    Russia IMO
    LiveLeak.com - Russian Insurance Scams

    Translation:
Russian laws have a very strict policy for driver's fault in case of hitting pedestrians. By federal law, driver has to compensate for damages even if he's not guilty. Even IF he'll ever succeed in proving this. Because we're talking about pedestrian set-ups. Let's begin with cases, where intentions are not clear at all, and actions are totally inadequate.
00:17 Bloke wearing a hoody is calmly approaching the Zebra. What could go wrong? Hands ahead, he traps just under the wheels. On purpose or not? Wouldn't do any good to him
00:28 This girl is going to run like mad out of obscuring auto. When she sees there's no profit, stops and calmly walks off.
00:40 Now the cases with 100% on purpose "wheel diving". Not clear if set-up or just suicidal.
00:55 Man lurks for a right bus to dive into, spends quite some time
01:18 A group of teenagers is crossing the Zebra as usual. Suddenly one of them takes a dive.
01:54 Now the cases, proved to be real set-ups.
02:00 "Witness" wrecks the mirror, "Victim" drops a phone, van obscures the view.
02:20 "Victim" with an expensive laptop
02:30 Just the BMW he needs
03:10 "Witness" man, the "victim" with iPhone 4 and a lorry to make them unnoticeable.
03:15 Sound of a hit mirror. Same script: broken phone, damaged arm.
03:35 "Road police" and the "witness" car get on scene in less than 10 seconds.
03:48 After seeing the dashcam, they pack up and drive away.
03:52 One of them even managed to be recorded twice
04:25 Classic scheme is to demand compensations for broken laptop or phone, damaged arm, "to pay the doctor", incapacity for work during an important meeting.
04:35 By law you HAVE TO always call the road police, whether it was a set-up or not. Even if the pedestrian says, that they're okay or if they walk away leaving an acknowledgment note.

watched an interesting (to me) movie last night called The Oxford Murders. I won't go over the whole plot but it did bring up two interesting ideas that I have thought about before.

    1. Butterfly effect. Most people reading this will get what I am saying how a small and insignificant action can cause a significant and seemingly unrelated action at a future time. Even for those who 'get it' I think the effect is still greatly underestimated. From what you say to someone, the text you send while the other person is driving, to when you sneeze in a room. Even if doesn't directly lead to a murder, a car wreck, or a sickness, you are still changing the world around you in some small way and all that implies.

    2. Sequences. e.g. 2... 4... 6...??

The obvious answer is of course 8 and I would always answer it that way but even in grade school I thought to myself it really doesn't have to be 8. It can be whatever you really want it to be as long as the sequence itself was appropriately complex. The movie has a good but disturbing way of showing it.

    2... 4... 8... ??

The simplest solution is to just double the numbers and use 16 but there are a ton of ways to complete it. 14 is a solution as well (+2) (+4) (+6)

One-indexing the prime numbers, the following formula generates this sequence:

    Prime(n) + (((n) (n-1)) / 2)

    Good luck with that.

Speed detectors work as you're driving towards or away from them, not when you drive past them. They measure change in distance between 2 objects over time, NOT velocity.

You could drive in a circle around a speed detector as fast as you want, and it will register a speed near 0, since you're neither approaching nor receding away from it.
  70. #9070
In Belgium I got a ticket for 70 kmph where is it 50, and 3 letters arrived from france for more speeding tickets (since when do they send them across countries wtf) for a grand total of 360 euros. Fuck me.

If you get a ticket driving across the country in the US, you generally can just ignore them with no real repercussion. Sure you'll eventually have a warrant issued for your arrest, but you're not getting extradited even across counties much less state lines for a traffic warrant. Just don't even return to that county again, or be very very careful if you ever do.

    .
Now that I am back in Belgium, I've looked it up. You do have to pay, or the belgian justice system will take care of it, think bailiff at your door if you keep ignoring it. They have agreements now across countries, which sucks. But they're in french and not my language, so on monday I'm gonna return all 3 to sender writing "Translate to english please" on each one, and hopefully never hear from them again.

I got a speeding ticket outside of Durango, CO. A year and a half later, when I went to transfer my driver's license to MO, they wouldn't issue my license until I paid CO off.

Not true. I know someone that got a ticket in Missouri. She ignored the letters to pay the ticket. About a year later, she was pulled over in Illinois, where she lived. When the cop ran her license, she found out that Illinois suspended her license because of it. I had to go bail her out.

I think it depends on the state -- some states share that information, others don't talk at all.
