    Default What's Everyone Doing?

I haven't posted in a long time or checked this place any. What's everyone doing these days?

I'm shacked up with a couple of white girls. One graduates from her degree program after next semester, and the other has a pretty decent freelancing business going. I still have my writing business that's going really well, and I've been getting more into the SEO/IM game this year with a few sites that are turning a profit.

I'm currently unemployed and smoking a spliff.

Doing my teacher training finally. Going pretty well so far. Still have lessons that completely bomb but properly nailed a lesson on Thursday when my university tutor was in assessing me which was nice. Could do with putting some more effort in socially especially with girls but I tend to go out with uni people once a week & I'm not doing too badly keeping in contact with other friends. When I'm driving that should improve too especially seeing them in good ways i.e. playing sports rather than bad ways i.e. alcohol.

Other than that I'm just keeping my head fairly low, living below my means so i can eventually think about buying somewhere without paying interest all my life.

I'm still working as Physics Demonstration Technician.
My gal is doing marketing for Planned Parenthood in StL.

Now that we're both employed with our big-kid jobs, we're looking at moving on up to the East side to finally get a piece of the pie.
JK. There's no pie in East St Louis.

I quit my job and have been freelancing. Now I do actual work maybe one week a month, and the rest I just do what I like which normally means investigating and acting on ways to make/save money that don't sound like a chore, working on personal projects, skill acquisition/improvement, and life/work maintenance.

I really think some people just aren't wired for 9-5 work. I'd do it again if things got dire, but the roller coaster of freelancing is much preferable to the mundane perpetuity of the typical job.

Graduating this month with bachelors in economics. Not working yet but soon.

School has been good but not good for me. The components of my personal life that have usually been a mess still are a mess. I tried to make the best changes while in school but to little effect. That should change when I'm working again, because I like working and I like myself when I'm working, so I make good decisions then instead of just dwelling on the negative in life.

Seems a weird time to finish your course.

I'll be like 1/3 of the way through mine in a week.

Apparently all sorts of different times are used all over the world. I was like lolwat when I learned in Arizona their k-12 starts early August. Who the fuck goes back to school early August?

In N. America you can take pretty much as long or short as you want to do a degree. So, either Wuf finished early or finished late, or started early or started late, or some combo of both. Most people start uni in Sept. and graduate four years later in May. The college football season pretty much demands it.

Oh yeah I'm graduating in an odd semester. I changed paths twice. First not knowing what I wanted to focus on yet ultimately not wanting to focus on my strengths (for better or worse) yet sorta still doing that. Then switching to my biggest weakness (math). Then hitting my upper limit in math and switching to economics. So some extra classes happened and I'm graduating an odd semester.

Wuf, I think it's cool that you sort of let yourself pinball around in your studies. Maybe "pinball around" is a bad turn of phrase since I'm trying to compliment you on being self aware and evaluative throughout the process.

Thanks. There are some benefits but also some drawbacks to doing it that way.

I do IT stuff. I'm basically a consultant for when people have unruly servers, transfers from new to old, wondering if they can get hacked (security audits) etc. Also for personal security (email, phone etc) stuffs. Of course the obligatory full-stack development is also in there

The degree says you can pick up something complex and that you see it through. Don't pretend that it needs to be some shiny badge of honor. You've already shown enough.

Governor of New York called us to complete an 18 month project in 9 months so he could show the good people of new york his great public works for his 2018 campaign. So I've been trying to turn money into time. It's great when it means you can press old hands to know their thoughts and its terrible when you've got to be up constantly to address the next fire that springs up. All in all, I'm ready to move on and I know I'm ready for the next thing.

Hey boost, just saw this. You say that you'd do it again "if things got dire" which is basically why I do it - to forever and ever stave off the dire. There's no glory in the grind. Such is our position and our way.

in the gambling industry or other markets? would be curious to know what you're doing and how it's working out for you. i dabbled in this around 2013-2015, never really got anything going, only made a few thousand and found the work tedious and boring. so i switched back to client work, which can be fairly boring as well.

would like to have a few of my own products/sites that generate some cash but just seems so saturated and overwhelming. how did you start?

I'm focusing on self-help. There's such a wide range of things to cover and angles to take. I'm not ballin outta control or anything, but I'm making steady progress. The work is fairly tedious, but it is what it is. I don't mind client work, but I don't want to be doing it forever.

Funny story I'm not sure if I've told here, but it was my only attempt at anything in the gambling industry.

I made a really simple website in 2016 that was focused on shit-talking the NC lottery and funneling people towards signing up with a few US-friendly Realtime Gaming casinos that have online scratch cards. The entire focus was on the online scratch offs having 95%+ payouts while the NC lottery's scratch offs have 50% payouts instead. It was super anti-government, they just want to rip you off, they should call the NC Education Lottery the NC Education Rip Off and all of this type of over-the-top, borderline trolling level shit.

I used vistaprint to get some cheap business cards that said something like:

THE NC LOTTERY IS A RIP OFF
The government is lying to you
Get 95%+ payouts instead of the 50% payout rip off at xxxxxx.com

Or something like that, and I'd just leave them in public bathrooms or in random places in Walmart, tables at fast food restaurants, shit like that. I wouldn't make special trips to leave them anywhere, but I'd just leave them wherever I went.

In my first month, I pulled around $300 profits from the affiliate program I was a part of and another $175 or so the second month. I got tired of carrying the cards around with me and getting weird looks when I'd leave them places, but that was pretty interesting stuff as a proof of concept.

I've just been to view a house in the countryside and start a new job next week. If I get this house I'll be buying myself a 125cc moped to get about. So far so good, 2018.

I've had my hair cut since that photo was taken. And I haven't got a moped yet.

Soon, all being well. If and when it happens, I'll update my av to an image of me looking like a twat with my crash helmet on.

I thought folks were looking for neat ways to make serious cash online. Since this doesn't seem to be anyone's cup of tea, no sense leaving any breadcrumbs identifying my freaky online alterego.

Stripping down old printers for the parts, refurbing and selling the parts etc. There's the potential for me to run the ebay side of things in the future, which I can do from home (mostly), but obviously it will help me a great deal if I understand what the fuck it is these parts actually do, so yeah, gonna have to get my hands dirty before I can work with a spliff and a cuppa.

Didn't get the property I viewed. Shame, it was a nice little cottage. Still, I'll find something.

    And that's too bad.

It'll be rewarding if I'm mostly working from home. That's the prime reason I'm giving this a shot.

I've done similar, primarily with regards to gay + feet. I got too caught up in other things I was doing to devote as much time to it as needed for my existing clients, so I dropped them all.
