Default Getting Staked @ 1/2 live NL... Advice

    Sup guys,

So i have recently acquired the opportunity to get staked @ 1/2 nl at mohegan sun. This is the first time i have been sponsored by someone, and I hoping to hear some thoughts from anyone who is, or has staked at a live game before.

the BI @ 1/2 is $300, rake($1-$5), we have decided on splitting profit 50/50.

One question i have is how long should i make my sessions? (8-12hr)

Next, from what i have read it can be a profitable venture. So I would just like to hear back from anyone with advice or experience.

Length of sessions and being staked really have nothing to do with each other. Play sessions of a length where you stay comfortable and profitable.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

What's your actual deal though? If the deal is just 50/50 profit split you have so many more things you want to iron out first. For example there's no way that if you go to the casino and drop a couple of grand only to decide you don't like live poker the guy is going to be fine with you walking away from the deal.

1/2 live is a rakefest with a tiny hourly rate as it is even for an extremely strong player, I hope you're doing this just for recreation because I'm pretty sure a fry cook at mcdonalds would have a better hourly than a 50/50 split deal at 1/2.

As Renton said rake is a huge factor in 1-2 which makes it extremely difficult to have a good winning rate in. Another thing to consider is what times you are going to be playing. If your playing on weekend nights the competition will generally be looser then if your playing at 1pm on a wednesday. Best of luck and keep us updated on how it goes.

This sounds like free practice to me if anything. You won't be making much money. My best advice is to just go on Friday and Saturday nights to catch all the fishy fish.

If you are cleaning up stay awhile, if not maybe try another table. Good luck to you

I agree with the above posters that the rake is just too great to overcome at $1/$2 live cash games. However, this could be a good deal for you and a great opportunity to grind some small stakes live poker without risking your own bankroll.

Pretty much any staking scenario at these levels that doesn't require you to buy-out if you're in makeup is good for you in my opinion. I do see a high risk for the staker tho.

Eat at home, walk to the casino if you can, and see if you can edge out a profit over a couple of months I say. As long as you're happy about trying this out and have things worked out with the backer beforehand... more power to you.
