    Default Show Me Your SC's

Wondering if any of you studs can post some routine SC hands where you took down a nice pot. SC's don't seem to produce much for me, and I'd like to see some good examples of how to play them profitably.

PS. I don't want to see any BB specials either...real hands plz k thnx.

so you know he gives up easily post-flop or something and you just call with anything and attack? maybe that's what i'm not understanding. i was under the impression that ppl are scooping bigtime pots with sc's but i guess just stealing regularly from nits with them can be pretty profitable.

    From this guy:

Pre-flop: I have a hand I want to play. Probably around the top 30% of hands, although he might raise the top 2% or so even bigger.

Flop: I missed, please fold or let me see a turn card. That's also a wonderful board to play back at someone on.

Pretty much just Ax hit that board (this guy's range is so wide, we can pretty much ignore pairs.) Everything else can't fold fast enough.

edit: Also it's a terrible board to 2nd barrel on, yet a great board to float weakish thinking players because they know it's a terrible spot to fire the second round.

    Marry Me Cheryl!!!
Fnord posted the obvious aggression one.
Heres the reraised pot with implied odds one (pokertards obviously :P )

Im winning lots of pots, showing down little, hence table image is a little aggro, but for the nits, their HU will stay say im playing a very conservative game.

Edit: lol it isnt owrking but i hit the turn and c/r all in and get called by a set of aces, who obviously took one look at his HUD and called easily simply because my stats suggest i have one pair AK or a set, not 87s.

Just a few for the hell of it...SCs for me don't tend to win big hands all that often (not a shock)...but my VPIP is pretty low anyway, so they help bump it up and they are easy to dump post flop...I use em for blind steals, limping with other limpers, bluffing/semi-bluffing, etc. and don't continue with them very far unless I hit strong.
Obviously it's pointless to show all the times that I've raised J8s, Q9s, 9Ts etc. and stolen the blinds.

seems to me that sc's show more profit when you can get HU with a nit rather than limping behind like 4 others with something like 56s and praying not to get flush over flush'ed. i'm speaking mainly about full ring btw.

Fnord on these hands you are playing your opponent, I am just thinking about the cards. You also hit on those hands too, and pushed villain when a scare card hit.

Reads, although timing certainly feeds into my willingness to fire a second barrel. When I sense legit weakness (not Hollywood) I attack.

My point here was that pertaining to the cards that is what I look for NOT how to exploit them. I am still working on that. Thanks for posting these Fnord.

Well obviously what works for Brunson is only 2 major ideals of play.

He's established he's aggressive, and that if you play at him, he'll fire his chips into the pot if he's got a reasonable hand and a re-draw.

If you're on the button with SC, and your opponent raises, and you and maybe one other guy calls.. you're looking for an OESD, or an OESFD. says he won't commit more than 10% of his stack to this manuever, because he isn't getting odds should his draw hit. If he catches an OESFD, or an Open ender with a backdoor flush.. he raises the opener, or bets out if he gets checked in to. Should his opponent re-raise... he fires out an all in

Lets say you think you can isolate one opponent with a limp call from an early position raise. Then with an OESD, OESFD, and a backdoor flush with draw. (or even a gutshot with a straight draw too)... Bet into the guy. he raises you back, put him to the test. shove, and let the cards fall.

You make up your own hands/situations that may fit into these categories, be a pro-active thinker about how YOU want to dictate these situations to your opponents, don';t be reactive about how other guys dictate the play to their opponents.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

You make up your own hands/situations that may fit into these categories, be a pro-active thinker about how YOU want to dictate these situations to your opponents, don';t be reactive about how other guys dictate the play to their opponents.
this is only when you have lots of fold equity

bump. i still need to work on these friggin things. question to those limping them in lp after multiple limpers: how often do you find yourself flush over flush'd w/ sc's like 67 & the like? seems to me that in multiway pots after the 3rd flush card hits and someone (maybe multiple opps) is giving you lots of action that you are toast a lot of times. am i wrong to think this? i know the chances are low but given the nature of the pot and timing of the action i'm terrified in these spots. i'm talking full ring here. i'm pretty scared of this happening, but i also hate calling raises with them since i usually won't get very good odds to draw anyways. any other thoughts?
