    Default Scenario

Can someone come up with a scenario for me for the following please.

"This is a tough one but I feel like I am ahead of half of his range and behind half, but if I shove I feel like I can fold out some of the range that beats me"

    Thanks

    Isn't this like a two-way bet/merging ranges what not?

a board where river completes a straight and flush and you can get him to fold a set/straight?

    that kind of hand?

not necessarily because we never said he calls with anything we beat

but yeah, scary board + we shove a good hand for fold equity

That was my thought, call down with say TPWK because he might have been barelling, and draws hit. If you're fairly sure his range is TP better kicker or air, you might still get folds from his TP hands because of the draws that completed.
Just dipping my toes back in.

a little town called none of your goddamn business
well first of all, i think instead of "ahead half" you mean "ahead exactly the amount of the pot odds im getting"

being ahead 50% is usually a huge coup and its hard to beat the equity of calling unless he folds a huge percent of his range.

OP never said calling wouldn't be better, just raising folds SOME better hands and that happens a lot

Thanks for the responses guys, merging was sort of the concept I was getting at but as pointed out there are a few distinctions between merging and what I outlined. I could have said 'If I shove I feel like I can fold out some of the range that beats me BUT he calls with roughly the same proportion of hands we beat"

When is merging a good idea at lower stakes compared to higher, what examples might be given for scenarios in each level and what are the differences? Can anyone back up each level with hand histories?
