    Default Lukie's Guarantee

Ok, I'm going to make this quick.

October: Best month ever. I basically started playing again after a couple month layoff in the early-mid stages of this month.

November (ignoring the first couple days of the month to make this post sound more badass): worst month ever. I'm down about 12k. Over 100% of this has come from 2/4 and 5/10, split roughly equal. For simplicity's sake, lets say I'm at -7k each, and +2k at 3/6.

This is unacceptable. I refuse to pull the variance card. I need to play better.

I'm going to have a goddamn winning month if it's the last thing I do in November. End of story.

+30 buyins at 2/4 by November 30th. Watch. I'll post my progress here if I deem it necessary.

    Tomorrow is a fresh start.

Truthfully, when I was really making a ton of money was when I was playing with some real agression to my game. Once things started turning around and I tried playing tighter and got a case of fancy play syndrome, thats when things started going downhill. Oh, and the fact that my last 75 big pairs have been cracked in reraised pots doesn't help.

for the last few weeks, pretty much.

The thing is though, even if you play 0 hands, you have a good chance of winning.
  18. #18
we can do it for a symbolic sum, like a hundred bucks or so. i can't play a zillion hands because of school etc, but it would be fun (probably profitable and motivating) and i'd make a serious attempt still

lets doooooooo it. So basically, whoever can make more $$$ at 2/4 from now through the end of november gets $100?

Just to reference a starting point for me:

  20. #20
it's on. here is my PT stats. i'll probably play 400nl at pokerroom too, and they suck with importing into PT (missed hands all the time). i'll just let you know how much i deposit there when i do. i'll only play 400nl there anyway, so. (non-existant action at 600nl, which still is a little too scary for me.) gl.

Well, I've only played on stars and party so it's kinda hard for me to say. They are certainly tougher then the old party. I don't think I'm a particularly great player but I'm a long-term winner there, hence they can't be too hard.

btw, you should play some at 2/4NL on stars. Might as well get some hands in together.

just played 3000 hands, up about $600.

I dropped over $2000 before I quit. I was up about $2800 at one point. Poker makes me want to cry sometimes.

playing past your bedtime -ev. the games get much tougher then as well and concentration goes way down.

considering that I got up at 5pm today, I hope 2am isn't past my bedtime.

agreed though that the games get a lot tougher, but I had a lot of nasty setups as well. A couple combo draws missed, KK < AA, set under set, etc. I mighta spewed off a buyin or 2 as well. Standard I guess.

ah! your wakeup time needs to be centered around the euros! they are a goldmine.. they start paying you off around noon eastern time on the euro heavy sites, and peak around 5pm. you are missing out on some action.

    rofl, qft.

right now my pt looks like this: 9.4k hands, +800ish. So I've played about 6k hands and about +4 buyins since we started.

If I stopped spewing off buyins before quitting, that would be much higher.

here's some i've found useful. i *try* to stick to them, when i do it usually pays off.

    1. pokersitescout.com is a great resource. dive into the stats and look around. you will make a lot more $$ playing during peak hours.

    2. play in regular sessions.. with start and stop times.. 50mins to 1hr is best for me.

    3. cut down on distractions, empty bladder before playing, take care of dogs/wife/obligations before each session. also use a different part of your brain between each session (physical activity/chores). aggressive music is good (rage against the machine), turn off tv.

    4. post nightly hh's, and comment on others. include horribly played hands as well as braggy hands.

    5. post daily progress to keep yourself accountable, you will make a lot less bad plays when you know someone is watching over your shoulder (ftr).

    6. have multiple accounts at different places, always play for bonuses and rakeback. keep your nickname secret.

    7. dont play tired/hungry/angry/tilting. its ok to quit before the bb hits you, playing that last Axs UTG because its your last hand is a good way to lose money.

How do you get a read in an hour, or do you use a HUD?

HUD. by 20 or so hands i have a good idea on how a player plays, if i dont already have stats on them.

this goes both ways though, as if you keep playing regular sessions oppos dont have any reads on you yet. so you can get away with stuff you dont normally do, or get paid off easier.

i suppose you could try and build a "false image" of yourself as well, by starting real loose or real tight and then switching gears.

ps, I hit my first 2 outer EVER yesterday. ship it! (this was literally not 30 seconds after I lost my 3rd straight KK v AA allin preflop in about 10 minutes-no joke- but other then those, I ran pretty good last night.)

    incentive:

When you make plays like this, I'd imagine that you have pretty cool looking poker graphs. Sandstorm's graph is not cool.

lukie, on the 86 hand, what do you think the SB has besides a set? he wasn't even the PFR but he seems happy to get the money in. only thing you are hoping he has is 56 or AA.

hmm, this guy folds 56 preflop and AA gets repopped by him. I think both have very few exceptions.

Taking an objective look at the hand NOW, it's hard to put him on a worse hand. He could have a decent draw though I suppose which I would have a decent edge against. Do you think you can find a fold to his c/r without much invested here?

Also, what do you think about the 98s hand? Lately, I have been checking this flop here more often then most regulars, both with made hands and with A high. I can certainly check/push AA here (obviously doesn't matter since he has a set, and probably irrelevant anyway since I don't think this particular villain has seen me do it).

The whole hand was kinda spewy but whatever.

ok so I played about 8k hands today. I don't think I've ever played more. In fact, I'm sure of it. I only made about $200 though. However, considering that I was only in the green for about 5 or 10 minutes on the entire day, and was down $2000+ for much of it, I think that's solid. Basically, while my standard graph probably resembles this shape: /\, my graph today would probably resemble this shape: V. This is a good thing.

20 more buyins by the end of November. lalalala

If my calculations (and pokertracker) are correct, I've played 17,000 hands in the 3 days since we started this prop bet. Lol.

you know what sucks? having AA, getting half your stack in preflop, calling the second half on a Q-high rainbow board, and see K7s river his flush (he threebet preflop btw). ARGH

    update: 4500 hands, +a buyin

The icon is clapping Bigred, not blowing kisses. On the other hand, Me thinks there has never been a thread started by lukie that you have failed to post in. And mighty fast as well. I'd even bet you have the pool pic saved in your my pictures folder. (prolly not the only one either).

And pulkl up your thong, we can see your ass crack.

This is probably the coolest hand of the night. I can't say that I've ever had a 6 card straight flush using both hole cards before.
