The Importance of Bankroll
What % n do most of you use to decide what games you can play.
Limit
Its been said that for limit you need between 100 - 250 big bets i.e. 250*4=$1000 to play at the 2/4 table. I think for the net 100 bets is ok if you feel you play better than the avg player.
SNG
From what i've seen 30*entry is a safe number to go with, allthough some people have argued that as little as 10 is ok with a higher chance of going broke. This is also considered an effective way to slowly build your bankroll if you are a good player. Low risk, low pay but some people easily maintain a ROI of 40%, playing 2-3 tables at once.
NLHE
This is where i'd like some input, I havn't played ring games for at least a month and although i'm still a new player I think my skill level compared to then has vastly increased (now i'd say i'm avg instead of very bad player).
What bankrolls are generally seen to be needed in order to keep from going broke from variance?
Seems obvious but i'll state it anyway.
Obviously you can never play with "scare money" i.e. the rent
Also, i've made the mistake and i'm sure many more people have who have played a higher game than they should but not because of skill levels but simply because there bank roll couldn't pay the variance.
You can't expect to play and never lose, if you are going to put in $50 and expect to play for any amount of time. The low low tables are your only chance of not losing your money quickly.
Please feel free to correct/advise me on any points.
Also I would like to add that from what i have read bankroll can be the only diff between a player making 2k a week to a player making 200 a week with equal skill levels.
