    Default The Importance of Bankroll

What % n do most of you use to decide what games you can play.

    Limit
Its been said that for limit you need between 100 - 250 big bets i.e. 250*4=$1000 to play at the 2/4 table. I think for the net 100 bets is ok if you feel you play better than the avg player.

    SNG
From what i've seen 30*entry is a safe number to go with, allthough some people have argued that as little as 10 is ok with a higher chance of going broke. This is also considered an effective way to slowly build your bankroll if you are a good player. Low risk, low pay but some people easily maintain a ROI of 40%, playing 2-3 tables at once.

    NLHE
This is where i'd like some input, I havn't played ring games for at least a month and although i'm still a new player I think my skill level compared to then has vastly increased (now i'd say i'm avg instead of very bad player).

What bankrolls are generally seen to be needed in order to keep from going broke from variance?

Seems obvious but i'll state it anyway.

Obviously you can never play with "scare money" i.e. the rent

Also, i've made the mistake and i'm sure many more people have who have played a higher game than they should but not because of skill levels but simply because there bank roll couldn't pay the variance.

You can't expect to play and never lose, if you are going to put in $50 and expect to play for any amount of time. The low low tables are your only chance of not losing your money quickly.

Please feel free to correct/advise me on any points.

Also I would like to add that from what i have read bankroll can be the only diff between a player making 2k a week to a player making 200 a week with equal skill levels.

    Limit
For limit i keep hearing 300x the Big Bet.
A 3/6 would require a 1800 bank roll. I think thats a bit much for an occasional player in a 3/6 bankroll but considering i play without a bankroll i'm the wrong one ot talk

    SNG
    For the occasional SNG's I used 10x-15x.
If your playing them seriously 2-3 at a time for 9-10 a night then i belive you'd need to double that.
I kept 10x for the occaional SNG and did fine. When I started playing 6-7 a night 10x wasn't enough to get me through a bad night or two.

NL? I'm not sure, i'll let someone else handle htat.

Well I don't think I really agree with that. The higher limits you go the better the players are. U can be the same skill and both dominate at the NL 25 but when you jump up to the NL 200 you could both completely suck. I don't know for sure since I've never played the higher limits. I'm assumming you are talking about making 2k a week by playing at the higher limits and not at the same tables.

With me I think for the NL 25 tables a bankroll of about 150 should be plenty. The most I have ever lost in a bad streak was 92 I believe and that was when I was new and playing by what I now consider to be shitty. The best way to do it I'd say is become good enough to make money where you can withdraw all your original deposit and then play with your profit. Then just keep it all in and withdraw whenever you get over like 300 or something.

Bankroll has never mattered to me at all because I'm in the position where I have a lot of disposable income so its not like I can just play with 100 and if I lose it I can't play for a long ass time. I wouldnt worry about it too much unless you are really cutting it close with bills and stuff. Play with 100 or something and if you lose it all just redeposit.

    Hope that helps.
