    Default On getting paid off

There's been a couple ghey posts like ZOMG I have a big hand deep how do I get stacks in?

Making big hands will often give you a nice upswing but it's not the cause of real poker profit.

Leaning on weak players, reading hands and playing hands against poor players is.

I crush weak players by getting them to take 2-3 way flops against me with weak hands and/or poor position. Then I apply pressure to hit a flop. If I think they're peeling light, I confront them with a second barrel for an uncomfortable sum of money. If I think they're trapping or give too much action I shut it down and get a lot of free cards. If they play back at me, I'll ship it in with any good piece of equity.

Against stronger players, reading hands, body language, stuckiness, winning the fight to isolate the fish, etc. is more important. If you can figure out what they have sometimes, you will probably have an edge or at least be a little less worse off.

Big hands happen and when they do I almost always just play them fast and hope the other guy caught something or will pick the wrong time to go with a hand. I certailnly want them wondering if I really have it or I'm just bluffing. The guys I play with regularly know I play my good hands fast because they've seen me stack lots of players like that (probably themselves included) and consider me very dangerous because of that.

I bet more often as a bluff than for value in general.

Exactly, hence protecting our bluffs can be more important than getting paid off.

What happened to win flips get paid?

Some people don't realize the difference between between 1-2ptbb and 4-5 ptbb is that one extra bluff or valuebet every few hundred hands.

I think I make money when I manipulate my perceived range to cause opponents to either undervalue or overvalue the particular part of their range they are holding to suit my needs.

I guess that's kinda what you said ?

Im not 100% sure of the exact intention of the OP, but it kinda just seems like a PSA to take advantage of small and medium sized pots. Which was actually a major breakthrough in my game and winrate when I realized that a HUGE portion of the people I was playing against were actually only playing "one street" poker. Hit or quit. And once I started isolating limpers, 3-betting habitual isolators, and taking stands for the 6-10 BB pots i started noticing that waiting on my nut hands to get stacks in were pretty irrevelavant when I can just pan the creek and get rich picking up tiny nuggets of gold piece by piece.

So hard to do in isolated HHs, but would love to see some examples of what you mean Fnord.
Just dipping my toes back in.
