    Default check/call river?

i can't decide on my river bet. this guy is very very bad and i think he might have any ten here and call a decent river bet, but i am leaving myself a little bit exposed. i think i could've check/called, right?

id have prob lost a stack here by open pushing the river

As played i think check call is good but a block bet is ok. i think ucall the raise because u prob cant put an 8 in his hand.
If hes really bad could you have over bet the turn hoping he caught a part and thought you were full of crap?

Depends on reads but damn I probably go broke here...

I don't see a problem with a call on the river, though.

sometimes i check to induce a bluff from missed clubs

I check-call that most of the time. Atrocious river - so by check-calling you pay off an 8 the least possible amount, and you induce a bluff from a lot of hands that missed or were worse than yours the whole way. I also don't think he calls an $18 bet on the river with a ten.

By the way, if you check and he overbets the pot on the river, it's pretty likely he has an 8. I would guess either T8 or a club draw that accidentally turned into a straight.

I'm with dale. Check call is the best option. You want a showdown and its cheaper to check and call than it is to bet and get raised. Opponent could even have 89 that got there on the turn. If not, let him bluff it.
