Default APPT Macau hand vs Shaundeeb

blinds 50/100, i have about 11k he covers. I've played with him in a previous tournament at turning stone, a small buyin 6-max tournament. He knows i'm an online cash player. He's, from what i hear, a good tournament player online and live. If he remembers anything from our previous tournament it's that i'm capable of v-betting thin and making big folds.

I've been sitting tight, he's playing probably like 25/20 at a 9 handed table. Last hand i squeeze to 1600 in the BB when there was a co raise and a button call. They folded and after the hand shaun said, "did you even look at your hand?"

Anyways, the very next hand Shaun raises to 250 (standard) in late MP. Before he does this the BB has left and for some reason the dealer didn't give him a hand, and puts his BB in the middle. I don't know if he noticed this. A player who called the initial pfr last hand and got squeezed out by me calls on the cut off. I'm in the SB with and make it 1100.

I think this is the correct move because i've noticed that online players typically give credit to someone the 2nd time they do something while simultaneously not giving them any credit (aka he's not gonna 4-bet light and he'll call enough with worse).

    Anyways the flop comes:

    1) i choose to check here because of all my blockers, although in hindsight i think bet/shoving is better. I'm probably neutral with his stack off range while i'm going to get a lot of value going bet/bet/bet. Sadly in the moment i checked.

    he checks behind

    turn is a

I bet 1500, he raises to 4600 after waiting about 10 seconds. 2) Fold or shove?

Checking the flop is a gigantic mistake vs. Shaun Deeb specifically because he pays off too much vs. good aggressive players. But if you haven't played with him that much then you might not know that so I can't fault you too much for checking..

Anyway it's a fold as played, I don't think I've ever seen him show up with cheese in a spot like this. 66 is a huge part of his range, and he would make the (bad) preflop call with it for the exact reasons you mentioned in your post. He might have AQ as well but I think it's usually 66.

    I'm guessing KK or 66?

I kind of disagree with mcat as I too check the flop. I'm not sure I don't just call preflop though, as I'm starting to hater threebetting and building pots with hands like AQ/KQ. Raise size seems kind of large though I'd make it something like 800, chances are you're not going to get called by much worse with that raise size. Idk I don't think getting it in on the turn is too bad but fold is probably slightly better.

I bet the flop and reluctantly get it in if he raises. The turn is tough... I probably shove b/c he can't put you on much of anything after you check this flop.

I call or fold pre, the dynamic you describe is a bad spot for a TP hand.

Once you three bet I can't really see giving up on this board, if you want to fold the turn I would check instead.

what do you guys think of c/c the turn c/c river? (given, again, that i think i mistakenly checked the flop)

given your check on the flop, I like check/calling best.
I agree w/mcat that 66 is his most likely holding. I don't think he has KK or AQ here hardly ever - I think he's betting the flop there with those hands.
The only other hand I could maybe put him on would be a broadway hearts hand where he picked up the flush draw on the turn (but I haven't played with him enough to know if he will semi-bluff the turn).

Yah I was thinking this is JThearts or AT hearts in a best case scenario, and probably 666 as others have suggested.

    I like c/c, but as played I b/f.

This is such a sick spot. You've underrepped your hand with the flop check, but then again he can't have much other than 66 and the occasional combo draw. I still muck here i think.

    I think because it's a tourney it's best to c/c and c/c as played.
Nine to five is how to survive - I ain't trying to survive / I'm trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot //

id like never RR pre in a tourney- why would u try to iso saundeep when theres a boatload of asian monkeys playing Q3o or something

since you did i spose i agree from the previous responses that betting and getting it in is best but for the same reasons as above I would probably c/c down

you are 100 bb's deep with kq off oop in the early stages of an mtt. see cheap flops flop big and get paid by asian donks that overplay their kq type top pair hands.

Hey, I like my cash games with Asian donks playing Q3o or something!

That said, if you got a bad table draw are you playing this hand fast?

    Not the tourney life argument!

Sauce - even if you 3-bet aren't going to bust on this hand nearly often enough to worry about the +EV of future hands. I don't see how you can say a 3-bet is bad given that shaundeeb called the 3-bet with 66.
