Default 3b bluff reg, unexpected visitor

    .5/1 No Limit Holdem
    6 Players
    Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com
    Table Afterburner

    Stacks:
    UTG (101) 101bb
    UTG+1 (179) 179bb
    gyro (CO) (184) 184bb
    BTN (86) 86bb
    SB (92) 92bb
    BB (40) 40bb

    Blinds: 1/1

    Pre-Flop: (2, 6 players) gyro is CO
    1 fold, UTG+1 raises to 3, gyro raises to 9, 1 fold, SB calls 9, 1 fold, UTG+1 folds

    Flop: (22, 2 players)
    SB checks, gyro (174.9)?

SB 18/1 over ~30 hands or so.

I expect him to have like...AQ/AK and 77+ or so? Obv he's not folding any of those pairs...is there any point in c-betting this flop? I just wanna check it back since he's not folding pairs. I guess we can maybe get some value from AK or fold out that equity...iunno.

    bet.
    bet like every turn.
then bet the river if you improve and check if you do not.

to hell with this editting crap. mods shouldn't have to show if theyve editted their own posts.

even if he folds 80%+ of 3bets overall and everyone left but the 18/1 is tight?

I used to 3-bet this kind of stuff but this hand is never in my 3-bet range here, just because it doesn't deserve to be given I'm not 3-betting this spot absurdly wide as a bluff. It's obv +EV, it's just the whole long term play vs short term play thing, what's the optimal 3-bet bluff range. There are a large enough % of hands that play better as a 3-bet bluff than this, but are too weak to flat, that we don't want to 3-bet this IMO.

I like betting flop as i like the prospect of being able to use my mega equity to get him off some better pairs by the river and of course we're doing awesome vs any range to get it in on the flop so if he raises that's all good.

preflop is whatever as long as its not your standard

I would certainly bet the flop for a ton of reasons mainly having to do with implied odds and protection. Protection for when your hand is good + protection vs bluffs. What if you check the flop and he bets AQ for two streets on a jack turn, etc. You're quite alright with getting it in vs AA on the flop as you're like 2% behind, but the implied odds and free rivers you get by betting flop more than make up for that.
