Yeah, I just block people I don't like. I don't want to de-friend them as they'll eventually find out "we're not friends anymore," but I just block those that annoy the piss out of me and move on. I think I've only blocked three, and here's why by person:Quote:

Person 3) much like the guy from Person 1, this girl FB'ed all sorts of things. No I don't care what your kids are having for dinner. No I don't care that the laundry is done. No I don't care that your ex-husband is crazy and an alcoholic (too much information), etc.
I hate FB and love it at the same time. I'm sure I've posted "teh ghey" on there before but at least it's not every day.
P.S. Blocking people doesn't block it from your cell phone, which I don't use often, but it's always funny because those same three people are on there when I check that way...
Boost you never post besides a few random replies here and there!
ha, I post! I think I have like the 3rd most commune posts ever or something. But idk, maybe I havent been posting much lately... just busy trying to get rich and whatnot.
and ya, I just ended up blocking them.
I meant FB posts, of course I see your ass on here which I also love!Quote:

Right, I've already known how messed up a lot of this stuff is, but the movie had some really interesting points I didn't know about. When corporations only care about profit profit profit, health and safety is going to drop way down. I think it is very fucked up how the big corporations control all of the farmers, and don't even let them clean/replant seeds. That's how nature works! Pretty messed too up that you can own a patent on seeds...
I think the part where they try to pity you to death about the 2 year old that died was kind of lame. Yes, sad story but the way it was presented was like "if you eat meat you support killing my child."
Also, long live corn!!
I really don't understand why people criticize Monsanto or pharmaceutical companies for wanting their products to be protected by patents.
Agricultural research is credited with saving over a billion lives in the second half of the 20th century, by developing improved seeds that can feed more people. If any corporation in the world deserves to make a profit, it's them. Blaming science-based food production for poor health and nutrition is about as misguided an opinion as it's possible to have.
The seeds that Monsanto owns a patent on, are ones that they engineered. When you invent something that has value to society, you earn the right to a patent on your invention. Also, a lot of the profits are being invested back into new R&D. I'm worried that if patent laws on drugs and seeds are weakened, we'll start to see a lot less of these life-saving innovations. As much good as pharmaceuticals and food scientists have done already, there's much more that needs to be done.
That isn't the part that shocked me the most, and I agree with you for the most part. However, the farmers that choose not to use Monsanto's seeds are also being prosecuted for cleaning and reusing their own seed. Also, it just seems strange that it is illegal to reuse seeds after you bought them from a corporation. Seeds produce plants which produce more seeds, that's how it works.
I doubt this practice is as common as the documentary may have portrayed, but yeah, that sounds pretty bad.Quote:

mike, you could be right that its not all that common, and I dont have numbers so I dont know. But the fact that monsanto does have its only g-men that go snooping around farms to find people to prosecute is scary. Esp when they are actively prosecuting farmers that never bought or wanted their seed. If a neighboring farm with the same crop grows monsanto, all it takes is the right winds at the right time of the year and suddenly youve got monsanto seed growing on your lot.
Furthermore this is absolutely devastating for an organic farm. They pay insane sums to be certified organic, and if their crop is contaminated by genetically modified seed, they will lose their certification AND possibly face legal action from monsanto.
I do understand where you are coming from. However in the end international food monopolies are not a good thing. Even if we ignore any possibilities of truly evil schemes, the fact is monsanto would be happy to have one variety of edible corn, one variety of tomato, ect. Thats just a depressing world to live in :(
why you guys picking on the weak powerless corporations? the only thing they want to do is control all revenue and politics...

But I felt like I was going to have a panic attack... it probably took another 1 1/2hr+ after I busted for the thing to end.Quote:

haha! you need to have class to kill yourself after you murder people, amirite?
i should have taken pics. fail on my part.
i was not planning on buying or cooking this fish when i went out to get some shallots for a shrimp "scampi" i was preparing tonight. i stopped in the store that sells shallots loose and was thinking of trying monkfish for the first time if it looked good. the monkfish looked great and so did this other fish in the case and i asked the fishmonger what it was and he said blowfish " chicken of the sea". My brain wasn't clicking that this was the blowfish(pufferfish) that is poisinous. It just looked so damn tasty. i get home about 20 minutes later and tell my mother-in-law that we will have monkfish and blowfish for dinner and she instantly asks if that is that poisious fish. --my brain clicks in that i bought BLOWFISH, japan's leading killer of foodies.--------WTF who sells blowfish in the US, the most scared consumers with gov't warnings on everything.
well we lived.
resul.ts the shrimp and monkfish played wonderfully with the lemon, wine and shallot sauce. the blowfish needs a lighter sauce than what i cooked up.
wait so you went in, bought blowfish and there was no warning on the package and the guy didn't even say it was poisonous?
google came up with no recipes, just don't eat it is what they saidQuote:

You can eat blowfish. When we went to the beach last month people were cleaning them, there is only two pieces of meat that you can eat from them.
you can eat lots of things.. doesnt make it a good idea..
do drinks out of cans taste a lot different to you than from bottles?
glass bottles > cans > plastic bottles

Hi my name is GMMBB and I'm too cool to ever be on AIM and play people hu17rollz and shit, I'm going to go back to my kitchen and continue to do all the housework for my wife.

what will the year 4050 be like for humanity?
prosperous?
slums?
extinct?
replaced by genetically enhanced humans and/or machines?
confined to earth? solar system? galaxy?
how many people from 2009 will still be alive, in some form?
probably extinct :-\
if you could live for exactly 70 years (consecutive) throughout earth's existence, what 70 years would you pick?
If you figure man-kind prospers til the year 4000, I'll swing for around there. Unless you meant any time in the past. Really it comes down to how cool life is when I turn 21. So long as I avoid war or famine or strife of any kind, I think it'd be a great time to live.
