Super excited for the release...
yup
I hope I can play on the asia server from u.s. until i get back to Thailand, would suck to have to reset all my characters in a week...
i think blizzard said you can play on any server from anywhere, but characters cant transfer.
i didnt think i would want to play D3, but after trying the beta i cant wait
This game will end my life.
Never played the previous ones, just watched a gameplay trailer for the new one. It looks awful. I hate the birds eye view approach. If the gameplay was more like skyrim it would be great as the story is cool but the vid left me with no desire to play it what so ever. Thank fucking god! As I don't have time for this Shit. Also pleased the new gta isn't out til October as I know I'll be losing a month to that one.
I thought skyrim blew and I think the isometric view is much more tactical and fun. First person is becoming boring, and it enables games to be cookie-cutter (3 or 4 first person shooter engines are used to make the 100s of first person games). I think first person would be great with full 3d/peripheral vision (vr goggles).
must resist temptation
building a new computer for this! (also cuz my PC is 8 yrs old)
I really hope I can play this on my 1 year old laptop...
my 5 year old desktop wont run it, so i have to use my work laptop. i'll deal with it once someone asks me why its installed on a work computer.
laptop won't run it :(
debating upgrading my pc but idk if i want my life ruined for a few months
how the hell are you people knowing if your computers won't run it?
Also it seems like this game isn't very resource intensive?
Can You RUN It | Can I run that game | Game system requirements
click on the link for D3 and it will tell you if you can run it. It mismarked my video card, but other than that it seems pretty accurate.
oh man... I remember a friend of mine talking about this like 5 years ago and it is FINALLY HERE (almost)
fuck I wish I didn't know about this :/
It says I fail on the video card. Are there external video cards I can buy for a laptop? I'm passing on the other parameters by wide margins.
this game will be around and super popular for many years. i didnt even play diablo 2 for the first time until like 2009
if my shit doesn't run on it, me and everyone in this house are gonna be in the paper tomorrow
I'd just like to point out that I can run it but won't. Button mashing games make me drink and beat random, innocent people.
there's a chance you'll still be able to run it. i have a high end video card and it said that mine didn't pass on that site for some reason.
on another note, if you need a button clicking fix until the 15th, Path of Exile is having an open beta weekend right now. Havent played it yet but its very diablo-esque
You're in canada, you value the summer much more than I do.
because everyone clearly wants to know, here are my thoughts on diablo 3, having not played it yet:
Seems like same old, same old, with a few new (but as is always the case, restrictive) classes and a bunch of new gimmicky gameplay elements and updated graphics. You'd think after 10 years that the game would come leaps and bounds, but this is really just a polished D2 with some new features that might keep it fresh for a while, but ultimately not that long.
What makes the diablo franchise suck shit is the absolute lack of character individuality / differentiation. Whatever you do with your character, some other idiot will have done the same thing and likely have done it better. It's like you spend all these hours "working" up a character (sure, probably having fun in the process) and when you get to the point where you essentially 'max out', what's the payoff? Oh hey good job doing all that work and stuff, get in line with the 850 thousand other guys who chose to play a barbarian or a sorcerer or whatever the fuck the class names are this time because you're pretty much exactly the same as all of them.
Anyway, whatever, I'll probably play it anyway. Fuck you guys.
I played the beta through a couple times. Can't say I was impressed at all. Really no different than diablo 1. Graphics are a few years outdated already.
Gameplay through the first ~11 character levels was totally the same. Even at higher levels with runes and such I don't know that different characters of the same class will ever really play much different.
I'll probably pass on D3. I am sure I can find other, more fun, games to waste my time on.
Graphics are so not that important to video games imo. In my general experience the better the graphics the worse the game, so I'm happy to hear that the graphics aren't that great for D3.
I'm hoping that they don't stray away from D2 much aside from having better balance, reasonably updated graphics, and a larger variety of possible builds. From what I've read, it seems like that is pretty much what it is.
re: bode's gpu
1) gpu, vid card, same same.
2) I'm not sure if this is still the case, but iirc, back in the day there was a difference between gaming cards and workhorse cards. I'm not sure why this would be, or if it is still the case, but your high end video card may be high end for running modeling software, but not for gaming.
re: diablo3
I'm on board with KoRn. Being a big blizzard fan in the past, spending countless hours playing WII:Tides of Darkness, Starcraft, Broodwars, Diablo, and Diablo II, I almost feel obligated to feel excited about Diablo III. Yet, I don't. The fictional world is fairly interesting, but the story was never THAT great, and I just don't care to click click click and then click some more. TBH, I'd feel the same about the GTA franchise if it weren't an open world format game.
That being said, I eagerly await the next Half-Life installment, and will happily build a computer just for it.
I believe this is still true. I looked into it a year or two ago, and the gaming cards are more geared towards speed, and the professional cards are more geared towards accuracy. But I believe that's really only applicable to real-time rendering -- I didn't find anything that said rendering a final image from Maya, as an example, was significantly faster on a professional card over a similarly designed gaming card.
Installed and ready to go....9 hours
I've decided to sit on the sidelines for a bit. Maybe try it out in the winter. Enjoy the game ya'll
took me 5 hours to build first computer.... installing now :)
low graphics settings works fine on my 1 yr old dell laptop
you all should run a script, while you play, that tallies the number of clicks you make in game. I bet it's a both hilariously and disturbingly high number.
Getting it on release day was just about pointless.... So many issues and servers are completely down right now for maintenance.
does anyone have an extra guest pass code they could let me use? cant really buy this for the next few weeks but would like to be able to put in a few hours here and there and get to the level 13 cap atleast.
AAAAA++++++++, would play again.
looks like the guest pass codes only come with the retail versions, not the digital downloads. I would love it if someone could hook me up with one.
fuck i wish i had built a computer a month ago...
sigh at the fact that there appears to be no speccing in this game.
I'm sure the current generation of spoiled-rotten video gamers complained at how D2 was too specialized. It just seems dumb that there's no character customization beyond picking what skills are active. Also why isn't there attribute speccing??
So far I'm feeling pretty mixed about it. I like the difficulty, the graphics, the tactics/strategy of playing is great too. But the consequences for death aren't severe enough (as is usual in new-millennium games), and the customization is kind of non-existent.
Also i absolutely hate the fact that anyone can equip anything and that everything is dependent on weapon damage. I liked in D2 that there were certain build which were gear dependent and some which were not. Now, every build is completely gear dependent and there's no reason to favor one type of weapon over another; u just equip the one with the highest dps, whether it is a dirk or a spear.
There isn't a hardcore?
Without hardcore, I would have tired of D2 long before I did. Having your character actually be dead when you die was so cool...
lolz hardcore is a bit too hard core for me even. In D2 you lost experience, your map, and a shitload of gold. Seems like a good middle ground. In D3 it seems like all you lose is some item durability.
meh, hardcore is the shit. Give it a try man, you'll be surprised how much more fun it is. After playing hardcore I couldn't go back to regular, it was just so boring. Simply put, non-hardcore is like playing poker for play money.
Just finished normal mode, bought the game yesterday but didn't get to play too much then. Most challenging so far was actually the diablo fight. Not diablo himself (party of four witch doctors, just stay at max range) but when he summons the shadow clones. they insta-killed us all twice, third time one guy manages to break away with a sliver of health, and somehow survived and revived us. Upon the second summoning of the shadow clones, the other 3 die instantly, and now it is me on basically no health to run around and revive them. But I managed and we beat him.
I am not sure if I should be starting HC already tomorrow (all I really ever did in D2 was hc) or play on in normal to see the other difficulty levels, as I hear it becomes really tricky to not get one-shot to death.
Anyone exploiting the Azmodan glitch to level? It's pretty sweet!
Negatory please to be informing me.
Anyone playing on inferno difficulty yet? This video explains very well what it is like, and it is not even an exaggeration:
Diablo 3 Inferno Tactic For All Classes - YouTube
Thats what i sound like playing it!
This game is designed so weird for endgame. Every single game I have played in act 2-3-4 in inferno has been: after you meet your first elite, just run until you die, everyone revives at the body of whoever managed to run the farthest, run with all the mobs chasing you very much like in the youtube video trying to gain some more ground, rinse and repeat until you get the objective done. Then corpse-hop through the next instance. And the next.
Lol ya, demon hunters are op at it though.
Thoughts on the pony level? I thought it was kinda meh, though the chubby purple ones give me nightmares.
The pony level is so goofy I just refuse to acknowledge it exists, so I haven't tried it. The cow level in D2 was something really cool, sure it was cows but the setting was very diablo-like. Unlike this new thing.
And yeah Demon Hunters are just OP at everything atm :P. Even with worse gear they do wayyy more damage than me (witch doctor).
Also I haven't actually beaten act 2 inferno yet, stuck at the last boss Belial. But my friend has and he has invited me into act 3 and act 4 so now I can go there anyway. My friend is ofcourse a demon hunter. And how did he clear act 2, 3 and 4? In a group of 4 demon hunters. No joke.
How is demon hunter overpowered?
Demon hunters have a skill called Vault, that lets them instantly move 1 screen's length in about a second. With the right skills/mana, they can spam it 6-8 times. They also have a skill that makes them turn invisible for a few seconds, and a passive skill that grants them bonus movement speed whenever they use either skill.
So, instead of fleeing from the chickens screaming like a little girl like most classes...the demon hunter opts to be roadrunner and laughs at all the mobs
The way inferno is now, mobs do so much damage that the optimal strategy is to go full glass cannon, accept you will die when you get hit but just try to kite and deal as much damage as fast as you can. And this is what Demon Hunters excel at.
That sounds really shitty. I'm a monk and if that's how it works than I'm like super fucked.
You should just play what you like tbh, I am still playing my Witch Doctor too even though it is not the best thing.
But it doesn't hurt to level a demon hunter on the side. :) There is a fast way to get to level 60, Siege runs. It is pretty boring though, so I have only leveled my demon hunter up to lvl 37 so far as you can here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD_pw5L7G8s
I'm a lvl 60 barb struggling in act 1, but i refuse to skip content. and dieing is part of the fun. plus gearing for resistances helps quite a bit.
overall im pleased. 2 weeks in and i have 40 hours into the game.
this is basically inferno as a witch doctor
My Diablo 3 Inferno Tactic - YouTube
switching to barb ldo
Im hating my Witch doctor. Blowgun ppl to death, or keep all your skills on cd. Whichever you choose, pray nothing so much as looks at you. At least my wizard's kiting moves look cool :/
With a very fast attack speed weapon and +15% attack speed on rings, amulet and gloves, it is fun to machine-gun with a Witch Doctor though :). Check out the beginning of this vid as I mow down a Treasure Goblin.
Respendent Chest Run Inferno - YouTube
(this is act 3 inferno Respendent Chest run, great place to farm, I got the weapon I am using in the video there earlier, after running it for an hour)
Ya, hes effective for sure. Its just I feel too much like a wannabe Demon hunter doing it.
Yep that is the main problem, you have a bit more CC but you simply do way less damage. Although now that i have 34k dps, things have become a lot easier, I can farm all of act 1 including butcher easily, and I can actually kill elite packs in act 2. In act 3&4 it is still impossible though. Gonna level my demon hunter now for a bit :D
estimated real dollar value of 1m g?
About tree-fiddy.....
But, I think it will be around $1-$2
Hrm, apparently theres a fetish build thats had a lot of success. It uses the fetish passive and like, 2.0 attack speed to constantly spawn the minions that dont autodie in one hit.
Fetish Sycophants : the WD's secret weapon? - Forums - Diablo III
I see your point, but idk. Combination of wall + kiting forever might eventually spawn 1...which can live for quite awhile it seems. I need to get my shitty AS up to try it out
1 mil coins is 30 dollars to people spamming the chat box. I would never buy at that price, though.
Ya not yet anyway. The good gear is going for about 20 million, so just pay $600 to get one lolol.
i think its going to be around $4-5/m after the first few days
Yeah prices for gold are going to bottom out real fast once the RMAH comes around. From what I hear there is already major botting going on to acquire gold. I saw a screenshot of one bot and it was getting 400k per hour, just for smashing pots and vases.
Also JKDS i did most of act 3 yesterday and tried that build - it doesn't work, the summons get oneshot by even the puniest mob. Too bad I would really like a build with minions that works on inferno.
The thing I hate most about this game: when I'm attacking something with right click and run out of power, I run at them and die. When I'm trying to run from something and left click, I start attacking and die.
Also, spammers.
Other than that, it's super addicting.
No idea how people get to lvl 60 so quickly.
That is why you always hold shift when you do a ranged attack, you will never move forward.
And just got my demon hunter to level 60 with a total of 17 hours played on him, power leveled 25-50 with siege runs (like in a vid i linked) and had friends do diablo for me to get to the next difficulty and give me quests so I basically skipped whole acts just got to whatever I needed :P. He has nice damage but my god he dies so much easier than anything else.. I can understand why noone plays demon hunter on hardcore.
Yeah, I even bound it to tab since I didn't have the pinky range to work 1-4 and shift but i still don't like it. I guess I'm not used to thinking with this key setup like I am awsd+qer like in TF2.
I think I'm going to try to develop an eye for my arcane power so I know to stop attacking before it runs fully dry.
Wizard is pretty bad ass. I switch up my build all the time and a lot of things seem to still work in Hell... unless I run into a quick mob with invincible minions in a tight space.
It still helps a lot on the higher difficulties (hell+inferno) to get your pinky action up. You will often want to shoot at targets which are out of your vision and there is no way to do this without shift. For example the butcher on inferno, I always try to run out of vision and then shoot at him (you can see on the mini map where he is), this way his attacks cannot reach me while I keep firing at him. He is on an enrage timer of about 3 minutes, if you don't kill him in enough time he will set the whole room on fire. And inferno generally is all about kiting, run and shoot.
For me personally, I kept running towards mobs too often even when I had mana because I kept misclicking so I was forced to use it.
Damn.
I often wish elites and champions would show up on the mini-map since I usually find myself hydra-kiting them unless I'm playing around with blizzard/wave of force.
I have the "attack while standing still button" bounded to spacebar. Works perfectly.
My firsts character was a WD and I leveled it to 60...what a massive waste of time. Only really good spell it has is the zombie bears but you need to be right next to the enemies to use it and in inferno, that means you die. DH is so much easier.
Hey JV, tips on getting through act 2? These fucking snake lady's man...
23.7k dmg, 2.7 atkspd, 25k health, 300 resist, 2200 armor, 1500 intel. Snakes dont give a fuck and one shot me...unless i have spirit vessel...then they ghost and repeat. CC useless!!! HOW KILL ashsldfkjas;dkfjas;kg;kh;kj
If there's a perfect elite, it definitely has invulnerable minions.
I played through most the content in coop so not too sure about witch doctor solo. I cleared act 2 and 3 with monk+WD(me)+2 DH. Act 4 still impossible atm. Still, some elite packs that spawn crazy abilities you just have to skip, there is no way around this. This is easier in coop because one person can lure them away while you teleport to the furthest out body to bypass them. As solo you need to do something similar, lure em and park them somewhere, then revive and run the other way. If they are too crazy strong and you cannot skip, don't be afraid to remake the game. As for killing them, you need hex and wall of zombies to block them off, and enough room to kite backwards while you dwiddle them down. Also get Fetishes to block them off and Big Bad Voodoo to increase your damage output. It will still be impossible if you don't have enough dps to take them down fast enough.
Your stats are from my experience the minimum to clear act 1 but not enough for act 2. The most important thing you have to do now to deal with act 2 (which is the common roadblock for everyone) is gear up more. For reference I have 32k hp and 35k dps. Not a single piece of gear I bought for more than 80k gold, only my weapon would be worth more but I found it myself. Off the top of my hat looking at your stats, you have very high attack speed, that is very good if you have enough mana regen to not run yourself out of mana. Now you will want to get all the +dmg and +int you can. First thing buy a mojo with the highest +damage you can find, this will be a good upgrade. If the dps on your weapon is low you need a new one too, I have 900 dps 1-hander with +120 int. You need atleast 800 raw damage on it.
And yesterday I played on my Demon Hunter and did act 1 solo. I had spent all the gold I had, 1 million, on gear and my stats are 25k hp and 55k dps with sharpshooter. It was seriously retarted to play like this coming from a Witch Doctor. I melted everything I came across before it even got to me, including all elites. Just spam Nether Tentacles, everything dies. There was a mini-boss I found dead offscreen without even seeing him alive! Apart from the butcher who oneshot me a few times it felt like playing normal difficulty not inferno. Will try act 2 solo later, that should be a lot harder.
Tip for getting through A2 inferno: Wait for the difficulty nerf in the next patch.
Patch 1.0.3 Design Preview - Diablo III
does anyone else have a problem with horrible lag lately? the first 2 weeks the game was out i never had a problem. The last 4-5 days i've tried to log in to play between 8-12pm and the lag is so bad i can't even kill one mob without getting mowed down before i get a shot off. And its not just an issue with too much going on in the game. I look like i'm running in slow motion through town.
Oh well fuck me. Most my dmg comes from attack speed :(
At least ill be able to get out of act 1 now though i guess...not sure if i like the difficulty nerf or not. I mean, act 1 is such a joke and i hope the others dont get like that.
So they are going to tone down inferno act 2-4 difficulty to make it more like act 1 *and* stop the damage scaling in groups? Inferno is gonna become a breeze.
And I just started progressing in act 4 too. Killed ikatsu (first mini-boss) solo with my DH and Rakanoth (first boss) with my WD. It's going to become a lot easier once the patch hits, maybe hardcore will become possible now atleast that is a good thing.
Currently at diablo inferno. Or rather Shiablo. Pretty hard, but despite still being in crappy gear the rest of act 4 was really easy for my DH, I went through it solo in a few hours. My current assesment of inferno is that for a DH, if you buy a decent bow with 1k+ dps (~700k gold) and some cheap other gear (~300k) that you can do all acts, and the only big problems will be Belial (endboss act 2) and Rakanoth (boss in act 4).
Thats what my friend is saying too. Hes rockin some high dps bow and is bragging about how all his gear is super cheap. I HATE HIM
Apart from weapon you can get quite decent gear for a pretty cheap price. The main problem is that if you want to upgrade it you are suddenly looking at millions of gold for a single item..
I don't know how much I will be able to play D3 in the near future, gonna be moving soon, and I in a few hours I leave for a bachelor party weekend so I'll be afk from WW for that time.
I can finally play act 1 on farm, but still die to certain elite packs.
800+ resists (with shout), 14k dps, 26k life (LOL), 5k armor. Prob will be able to do act 2 once nerfs hit... though need a little bit more life.
