i was discussign animals you could kill without weaposns. Rules- bare hands and feet. What coud you kill. Horse? Punching ineffectual against? as is cow. Dog yes cat yes all other small animals/rodents yes ranging from crush to chopping right hand. Getting into the larger mammal neighbourhood becomes grey area. giraffe? work the body and e head will fall. Getting to primates becomes tough as they are better fighters. thoughts

there atcually arent that many larger animals that you would call pussies, maybe cows, but trying to strangle a cow (prob best tactic) may still be tough. even sweet horses can turn violent if provoked. fighting a bluffalo would indeed suck, even if you landed a choice uppercut as it came in. you would break your hand. and kicking wont work as you have no shoes on.
the animal would prob have more fighting smarts than you bargain for too. conclusion, most beasts can fight and animal kingdoms in general owns humans.

I was at my cabbin, way up in the mountains.. And i saw a sheep standing there and i decided to run after it. Little did i know there was a cliff not far away. The sheep got so scared it jumped off the cliff, and i could see the the sheep getting further and further away until it splatted on a stone :/
humans biggest strengths include intelligence (including the ability to create and effectively use tools such as spears) and the ability to communicate (via language).
therefore, give me a large caliber rifle and a couple buddies with the same, and I could take down some of the biggest land animals alive.

whats funny is how you guys think you could kill a dog with your bare hands. yes some humans can, but take the kangal for example. a dog bred to protect sheep from cougars. not like any of your skinny asses would stand a chance against that thing. im pretty big and strong and i think i would only stand a chance against smaller breeds of fighting dogs. a pit bull may only be 40-80 pounds but it will drag and shake your ass across the floor. dogs dont really kill any humans other than women and children though. they're just not efficient enough to kill grown men much, but a grown man killing a dog bred to fuck shit up is an entirely different thing. of course if a man is trained to do it he would be quite successful.

i personally find it kind of a shame that animal fights are illegal. i am very against treating animals improperly like those who fight animals do, but i am also not clueless enough to think that piting animals in duels is cruel and unusual or some shit. anybody who thinks animals fighting/killing each other is wrong is ignorant to how things work in the wild. each and every wild animal is lucky to not get eaten alive, starve or freeze to death, or some other horrible shit that modernized humans no longer endure.

I have had two mastiffs and now have a newf.
We had to put down our 2nd mastiff because she was too aggressive. And that is a bad combo in a big dog even though she was a runt she still weighed in around 120lb.
Our first mastiff was kinda "slow" like if he was a person he would ride the short bus. But he was a gentle giant all 200lbs of him.
My newf is around 140 I think but looks bigger because of the fur. And we play fight all the time. Inside the house I can kick his ass with a head lock. Outside he beats the shit outa me if I turn my back on him he will charge me knock me down grab my shirt sleeve and drag me across the yard.
Now with out a doubt either of the mastiffs would kill me in a fight but I was younger when we had em. The Newf I think I might be able to kill, he does have a minor case of hip dyspalsia(sp?). I am not to sure though a few times when I have got him on his back and pretend to choke him he has kicked me clear off himself. It is hard to tell because he is so gentle even play fighting he always makes sure to not bite my skin just my clothes(which sucks when he jumps me in nicer clothes)

first things that came to my mind were breed, size, training, etc of the dogs. i mean there's just such a vast difference between say, a little poodle, a police K9, or a real badass dog like some of the ones you're talking about. among the fighting dogs, i think just about everybody would get f'd up by them. i mean, most people aren't good at fighting other people, and a dog is far quicker, nastier, faster, more ruthless, has teeth, etc.Quote:

So one of the things I'm going to try to do this summer is spend more time outside.. stuff like walking, running, maybe try to pick up stuff like biking and/or hiking.
One of the things that kind of scares me is an attack by an animal(s), particularly dogs. Say that situation comes up, what do I do? I'm about 6'3, 200lbs and in very good shape, but the last thing I want to do is fight a rabid/stray dog. Any prevention tips? Say I had no other option but to stay and fight, then what? Keep my composure and try to strangle it? What about carrying some kind of weapon, e.g. pepper spray, a gun (ccw), knife, or sharp stick?
mmm thats much more gross and squishy. Snapped neck FTW. I would think my 2nd choice would be to go for the throat, or possibly the underbelly, depending on how badly I was being mauled/bitten. Face/eyes/nose actually is probably a good idea if you're truly in trouble.

honestly, the only kind of dog to be any kind of worried about is one bred for fighting. those dogs are stronger than all others, and they withstand pain better than almost any other animal. even a small pitbull can drag a big man across the ground. even then i personally wouldn't worry about a pit bull. its the larger mastiffs that are gonna be where to worry, but even then i think a large man can hold out for at least a long time, and a large intelligent man can kill it.
dogs are really inefficient at killing singlehandedly. they are against other dogs simply because they can go for the neck. their evolution is that of pack hunting. unlike if youre attacked by a tiger that shits will kill you in a second.
get a dog off its feet and its capability nearly vanishes.

Lukie, where do you live? In Colorado on the front range, if you are hiking you really do have to consider mountain lions. There are warning signs on the trails up in the foothills.
They say for mountain lions, make noise at a low pitch (show that you are male) and raise your arms up to look big. Don't fucking run, it triggers the chase impulse in them. They say to pick up small kids so they dont run for that reason.
If they DO come at you, throw shit at them, like rocks, your cell phone, etc. My uncle that lives at the trail head will pick up one big rock and a handful of little rocks if he hears something he doest like. Little rocks to throw in the eyes, and big rock to club it in the head if it comes to that.
oh and wufwugy, good point about the neck. I imagine it would be pretty tough to do that.
Oh and someone correct me if I am wrong, but there is no fighting back against a bear attack. You cover your head and hope to live, amirite?

Couldn't you argue that our bare hands are designed (thumbs) to utilize weapons and thus, picking up rocks or sticks in the environment (but not crafting them) should be an aspect of bare hand fighting?

But your size is pretty much the best prevention method you have going for you so far since if an animal is going to see a human as prey it's generally going to be smaller people like children. Plus have a workout partner, safety in numbers ldo. And pepper spray would be your most effective weapon of choice.
That's for grizzly bears. If they attack you it's because they believe it's in self-defense. If a black bear attacks you, it's because he's hungry. Black bears don't often see people as prey, but in very rare circumstances they will and that's when they'll attack.Quote:
