I watched the first ep and was like meh
First 3 or 4 episodes felt like Magnum PI, like individual little pulp stories. Was entertaining but not very deep. The plot got a lot more involved as the season wore on. It's not seriously dramatic - it's fun.
Plus, makes me want to drink bourbon.
Timothy Olyphant is one of the worst actors of our generation. Literally
How does he get work? He's mostly just expressionless and angry. I couldn't stop laughing my ass off in Deadwood in that one scene where he was supposed to be really pissed off. Because when the actor is super happy he still looks like there's a cucumber stuck in his ass, so when he's angry, he has to like shake and shit
That may be, but he was the same guy in some other stuff he did at that time too
I'm gonna give Justified a chance though
He played the lead in Hitman. So ya, worst actor ever.
Watched my first ever episode of Sopranos last night, I love it! And I have a whole series waiting for me. Awesome!
LOL watched first episode of Justified and they were talking about how he's such an angry man and doesn't know it. Poetic
But actually, he's not Angry Guy in Justified like he was in Deadwood; he's Too Smart Guy now
Justified is not bad. I'm not sure how much I can like it though because my haterade knows no bounds, and my elitism refuses to allow me to enjoy anything that reminds me of the old days when I used to watch like Law and Order and shit
I think I'm hooked on Justified now too
Benny you suck
You crushin on TimothyO?
Not really. He's doing a not bad job, but the show is fast paced, storytelling and dialogue both quite good.
I just watched Season 3, Epiosde 12 of Breaking Bad and I must say, this was one of the best endings of a TV show I remember in a while. The sick part is that it wasn't even the season finale!
Giving myself 2-3 days before watching the season 3 season finale. WHEEEEEE!!!
Sons just getting sicker every episode. 2 part season finale gonna be off the hook.
Just started watching Life's Too Short:
Warwick Davis Johnny Depp Life's Too Short Full Clip - YouTube
1st episode was meh imo
Sons is really good right now. I can't wait for the finale.
I've just started watching Mad Men. I'm about halfway through the first season and I guess I just don't get it. It's not poorly done, it's just uninteresting. Does it get better, or is this show just not for me?
Sons finale is a 2 parter so you'll be waiting a couple weeks.
oh fuck yer right. awesome. I can watch last week's now and still save up the last 2 eps. FUCK. so much could happen in the next 3 eps.
Idiot abroad's second season is going on right now.
Carl Pilkington is awesome.
Seriously, fuck Dexter...
I was resistant to all the dexter hate around here for a while. As a new father, I found the whole parenthood angle an interesting venue for character development.
After watching the most recent ep with a more critical eye than I have been... ...I can't fight it anymore. Show has jumped the shark. I'll finish up this season cuz I'm committed, but ugh. y'all are right.
I guess the plot moves a bit more as the seasons go along, but if you don't like season 1 I doubt it would be enough to make you like it. It's really more about the characters/conversations/period.
The period is the only attractive part. I actually despise most of the main characters. Roger is pretty interesting as are the second tier players in the office. But I really can't stand Peggy, Pete, Betty, Duck or, except to look at (and only some of the time), Joan. Don is only great when he's doing ad work. His personal life and all the brooding is annoying, as are all his women. Boohoohoo, no one knows you!
For the most part, these characters aren't very deep. Certainly not what I'd expect from a 4-time Emmy Winner for Best Drama.
it's hard to come into something knowing it's the 4 time emmy award winner, probably sets your expectations too high.
i think it's a bad show to marathon due to the pace.
it's also maybe a bad show if you don't watch a lot of TV. I get my fixes for quick moving plots, action, romance, easily lovable characters etc elsewhere. I like mm because it isn't those things. I assume that's also one of the reasons critics/award voters like it, they also watch too much TV.
we'll have to agree to disagree on the character depth because I can't speak from the 1/2 way through season 2 perspective.
^^ this could be why I gave up on it before. I had just watched marathons of The Wire, 6 Feet Under and caught up on Breaking Bad's first two seasons. Maybe I need to just watch it more sporadically and not have such expectations. I might give it another go. The doc hasn't steered me wrong before.
I've missed the last 2 eps of dexter as I've started watching sopranos. But dexter seemed ok when I watching it. But now I've started sopranos I have absolutely no desire to watch dexter anymore. It seems dull in comparison.
HOLY FUCK BWE
yeah crazy ep, great season
Luck looks abso amazing from the trailers i've seen.
usually gambling shows suck balls but i am optimistic
I am all caught up now with Breaking Bad. The last three episodes were so so good!
Next up: Season 1 Episode 1 of The Wire.
louie is like the best show ever, not because it's good, but i think it's just because louis ck could shit on a plate and i'd love it.
I watched 4 episodes of Mad Men today and I take back what I said, sorta. The way they handled the Cuban Missle Crisis was awesome.
his HBO show was kinda like his FX show in that it's about his life, but it's not similar in any other way. He demanded total creative control from FX, which he didn't have from HBO and it's infinitely more honest than the horrible sitcom-like abortion his HBO show was.
We let the whole dexter season build up, then watched as other TV died out for the holidays... with no expectations it was OK I guess, then I hated the last 2-3 eps... but after the end I'll be back I guess. I feel dirty though
I finally got to marathon Breaking Bad after putting it off since season 1.
That show is pretty good.
of course I'm slowrolling ya but that last episode, the last scene, was like a huge blow to the gut.
Possible spoilers
It does two things. It recolors all of post-cancer Walter White as a manipulative sub-human and the only guy skilled enough to snatch that poisoned cig from Jessi's pocket has a bullet wound in Mexico, so it creates a plot hole where Kid sneaks a poisoned cig, Jessi goes apeshit and nearly blows Walter's brains out before he coaxes him towards a common enemy once stood.
CAREFUL GUYS. DON'T SPOIL.
That's why it's hidden?
Breakin Bad season 4 Spoilers!
Season four's end was kinda wtf for me. Why did gus's face get blown off??? WTF, so silly! Then he walks around and fixes his suit for a bit before just dying. Wut??? That was both cool and lame at the same time. Also the ending itself was cool...im thankful its not a super cliffhanger like season 3 was though.
***BREAKING BAD SPOILERS***
I've always felt that the BB universe is similar to the Grand Theft Auto universe (esp IV). It's not way over the top cartoony, but it is a very specific kind of stylized. The scene in question may have pushed the boundaries on this, but I still think it was fine. Hell, maybe the show runner was just pissed about the whole "did gale actually get shot" speculation, so he spelled it out clear as day this time around.
**********
Blue Mountain State is pretty good. Decent humor levels plus a high volume of attractive ladies in their barely-theres.
Fuck fuckety fuck fuck fuck!
I just Googled something about sopranos and accidentally read a major spoiler.
*****?*? SPOILER * * ? SPOILER ***********
What I read was that tony kills Chris. I know nothing more than that and its feasible although somewhat unlikely that I misinterpreted it. I'm half way through season 5 and really pissed at myself for not considering the risks prior to Googling what I Googled.
Sherlock
Each episode is like a movie (1.5 hrs), 3 episodes in a series, they tend to be solid to v good. S2E3 is GOATish.
yeah I have only seen season 1 but loved sherlock. All the masterpiece mysteries are watchable, some are pretty slow.
did anyone watch the first 3 episodes of The Firm? I used to love reading John Grisham books, and so far this show looks true to form. Supposedly the first season is already approved for a full 22 one hour episodes.
Does anybody know a safe way to watch sherlock on teh internet?
only dangerous ones, sorry :(
Sherlock series 1 is on netflix.
Who's this boog character? Korean spy?
I think "boog" may be his alias
I just finished Sopranos.
Sigh.
SPOILER ********* SPOILER ********* SPOILER (sorta like mebbe)
So the dudes dead right?
no different than tarantino's suitcase
I disagree. But I'm too tired to explain why and I can't imagine anyone cares or hasn;t had teh conversation regarding the briefcase before.
