Go Bruins!
They went.
My bad, just saw some footage, you guys do know how to riot :) wtf
Poor Nuckie's, they broke the streak. Every Canadian city to have hosted the Winter Olympics, also won the cup in the very next NHL season.
Montreal 1976 Olympics, 1977 Stanley Cup
Calgary 1988 Olympics, 1989 Stanley Cup
Vancouver 2010 Olympics, 2011....

NHL Awards show was surprisingly entertaining except for:
-Wierd ass band playing OMG song (but next presenter's comment was great)
-Dumbass "Housewives"
-Dierks Bentley song was kinda lame
-Preds didn't get any awards (which I expected)
High points:
-Opening monologue and host, in general
-Ryan vs Ryan skit
-Hansen Bros
Looks like another Canadian team to lose in the finals!!!

By the way Sasq I'm rooting for the Preds this year. Even if a chunk of their roster is comprised of ex-Canadiens...

Oh and LOL HABS. Their fans have nothing to riot for this year.
LA>VAN. Theres no way LA is an 8th seed, this is an absurd 1st rd match up. Prob 7 games.
SJ>STL. Sharks are on fire, Blues are not. Sharks have veterans, Blues not really.
DET>NSH Detroit is too good and too experienced, they just need to take one of the first 2 games for it to be a lock
CHI>PHX. Hossa. If Toews is back they'll get it done in 5
NYR>OTT. zzz
BOS>WAS. Backstrom not 100%, Green not 100%, no Vokoun. GG.
NJ>FLA. Panthers will get demolished.
PIT>PHI. Wow.
Pittsburgh wins cup, just too much talent and the best coach. I should prob bet on those, I'd get good odds on all these underdog picks :D
I'm ready for my annual disappointment.
VAN>LA 4-1
STL>SJ 4-2
NSH>DET 4-3
CHI>PHX 4-2
NYR>OTT- zzzz
BOS>WAS- No Vakoun
NJ>FLA- sweep
PIT>PHI 4-2
^^^^^
that looks like fun
Van>LA 4-1
STL>SJ 4-1
DET>NSH 4-3
CHI>PHX 4-1
NYR>OTT sweep
BOS>WAS sweep
NJ>FLA 4-2
PIT>PHI 4-3
very excite for 2nite!!
Bruins ready to ruin more dreams
The Flyers look like a half-decent sleeper pick to me, I'm shocked no one thinks they can beat the Penguins.
I concur, if one team can it's the Flyers.
I fkin love hockey, overtime goodness already!!
Also I'd like to change my pick to nashville > Detroit with 15min left in the third. First time I see them play in 2yrs and damn they lookin good
Flyers are not really a sleeper pick... The reason no one is picking them to win is because they are playing against the 2012 Stanley Cup Champions in the first round. Unlucky for them...however, this win could change everything.
They were 8-2-1 or something vs. the Pens the past 2 years, and have now won all 6 games at their new arena.
I don't really know what to make of them since Bryz is so schizo, but he's also been the hottest goaltender in the league for the past month.
If Bryz stays hot they have most of the ingredients of a Cup contender:
1. Ton of depth, featuring the league's No. 3 offense yet only 1 player who had over 30 goals.
2. Legit superstar in Giroux.
3. Proven veteran playoff performers (Jagr, Briere).
4. Kids maturing at the right time (Schenn, Couturier)
5. Several players remaining from Finals team of 2 years ago.
They're not one of the top 5 teams in the league and maybe not one of the top 10, but seems like a team that could make a lot of noise.
I think people are sleeping on the Rangers, too.
Yeah, everyone acknowledges that the flyers can win and very well may win. But the pens are a sexier team and it's not as if people's picks carry and weight or importance.
Still though, the flyers have shown that they can only win when the refs graciously ignore the rules and force feed them goals.
Lol, yes we should have won 3-2 in OT instead of 4-3.
Was wondering if I should've edited. Of all the pet peeves people have in this world, I don't understand that one.
EDIT: Though I should point out that this is like my favorite skit ever

LOLPENGUINS
Yeah, they're suffering from that Green Bay syndrome. Everyone mints you as the champion-elect and you end up DOA.
Usually, I like to cheer for the team that beats mine, but fuck the flyers.
It's funny, I always liked the Penguins. It's always been the Rangers, Devils and even the Caps that I hated more. Despite the fact the Flyers and Pens played an epic 7-game series in '89, I always liked a lot of their players. I'd go to games and whistle at Jagr, but I thought he was great. Lemieux was the greatest player I've ever seen; I went to a game at the Spectrum that was his first game since coming back from cancer, and we gave him a 2-minute standing ovation.
Of course, the Flyers have a historical reputation for being a rough-and-tumble team, and have been Public Enemy No. 1 in the NHL for decades.
It says a whole helluva lot when Rangers/Devils fans are rooting for the Flyers.
This flyers/pens series is just epic. At this point I don't care who wins it, but nothing would be better than for it to get to a game 7.
lol, Rilla's team is about to be swept by a lower seeded team!
You think this is funny!? You don't know my pain!
Honestly though, everyone is pretty low on the Pens and the organization right now. I don't much mind. Playoffs are a wild thing; they hardly ever go as you would expect but the Pens are getting roflstomped embarrassed and have seemingly become what they truly hate - petulant little bastards.
I rather hope that people start to blame all this on losing Talbot. I always loved Talbot and he is made for the playoffs. If there was one guy who could elevate this team to playing like they're worth a damn, we let him go.
Fleury's given up some bad goals, but honestly Bryz has given up just as many.
I've always tried to give Crosby the benefit of the doubt, but he's been exactly what the most irrational Flyers fans have always said: an annoying little POS. This must be exactly what Bobby Clarke was like in the 1970s.
I could not have envisioned a series in which the Flyers just outgunned the Pens but that's basically what's happened. Every time the Pens score what seems to be a backbreaking goal or in Game 3, when they got within 1, the Flyers would answer, almost immediately.
Giroux is a superstar, arguably the greatest offensive talent the organization has ever had except for Lindros. The rookies have taken turns dominating, first Schenn, then Couturier, then Read. Rilla's absolutely correct in saying that Talbot is an immense playoff performer and heart-and-soul guy, and Jagr and Briere have flown under the radar but have been brilliant.
If this series gets to Game 7 it's unlikely that either team will be able to field 4 lines because of suspensions/injuries.Quote:
