I'm feeling the grind for the first time in weeks. Lets see where I reach this time. I'm grinding the 6.50's after taking close to 3K out of my roll to pay for unnecessary shit I shouldn't have to pay for. Heh, that's life.
I was superrolled for the 6's, and now I'm adequately rolled for the 6.50's. But no matter, I'll try to reach my eventual goal of 5.5K this time.
My goal is modest. With a 5.5K roll, I could grind the 27's for a good living on my pirate island. I could do higher, but I feel that higher the only thing I will get are nitfests that run only half the day, and I hate that.
I got about $500 on stars right now, after having today withdrawn $300. Let's see how the road to 5K will pan out, and how it all unfolds.
I lost all my hand histories ever, since I made some idiot backup decision in 7 that actually overwrote my old Vista OS backup, but its all good, since I did not really use Prospector or Tourney Manager that much anyway. I only used it to see session data, such as the amount of games I have played during a session. Results on sessions would make me results oriented, and its totally normal that I would finish a session -20BI or +20Bi. Grinding SNGs is a madhouse lol.
Oh, and I'm officially reopening my bar if and/or after I reach Goldstar this month.
Its pretty good, but we have to like kill all politicians here and then it would be perfect! They are all selfish, corrupt bastards imo.Quote:

I've actually had a couple of these and they are pretty delicious. My girlfriend is from Brazil and if I understand right that is huge down there and may even have come from down there. I actually had one with alcohol made by University of Sao Paulo because her dads friend has some sort of connection but it isn't for sale to the public. First time I've ever actually seen the drink anywhere other than with her family. Pretty cool.
Yeah, its Brazil's national cocktail. The remarkable thing is that there are literally millions of variations on this particular drink. But all share the cachaça rum and tons of sugar as main ingredients.
Its pretty much the nuts yo. I have seen it once at a bar I was at, and then I saw it on an episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, in which they went on the story etc. And then I tried it, and got hooked lol
Bah. Roll was at $650 yesterday, now at $550 today. Goddamn how can i not win a single 80/20 ever, blah blah.
Holla Jack!
Gotta celebrate I got accepted for that internship. Hook me up with some Grey Goose and dirty bitches, as both will be rare where Im going.
Congrats!

Jack, new avatar chick is hawt, but something about that pic is bothering me. It's a kind of natural pose in the middle of what seems to be a busy street. Where in the world do gorgeous women wander around in lingerie?
Its more of a lingerie-ish bathing suit at the beach. I wonder if I can photoshop the dude out of the bg though.

edit: meh, I had some cheap rum yesterday with mango juice, and today i got such an awful diarrhea its uncanny. I guess I can't drink cheap alcohol anymore (except green rum which is cheap but I haven't had issues with it), because I also once drank white label in massive quantities and shat green the next day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7LvUSofgmI
1) Bananas, cut in blocks
2) Ice
3) Nestle's Homemade Vanilla Low Fat and No Sugar Added Ice cream
4) Some Bacardi 8
5) extra creamy milk Carnation or Frisian Fag
All of these to taste obv. The Bacardi should be no more than 2 or 3 shots, we are not looking to make this alcoholic rather just to give it flavor. You can also use the rum of your choice.
Experiment with the amounts but don't overdo it. We are looking for your own taste.
Throw all of these in a blender, and press pulse a few times, just enough to have no big pieces of ice left in the drink.
You can also garnish with some sprinkles of Cinnamon.
Note, you should not add any sugar, or honey, or splenda or equal to any of this. Its all naturally sweet.
You can also substitute the bananas with Sapodilla or some Mamey Sapote, and you will have a variation of the great taste.
Serve immediately.

Monday, June 1st
A new month begins on a Monday. This month happens to be halfway of the current year in which I have seen so many ups and downs, in all aspects of my life.
Seems like a fitting date to reopen the bar.
First up, poker. I have been crushing the games I play in since January or so, maybe even more. But I always had to move some money out of the sites to do shit with it, sometimes necessary and at other times not so necessary. The end result was that I got my money to a fairly large sum on the PokerStars, as I had about 150 BI for the 16s and was about to jump to the 27's near end of February to mid-March. Needless to say, I again had to move money out of the site, this time leaving me behind with like a measly $500.
The little I had left, I grinded for some time with it, but quickly decided against it. I had halved my $500 roll to just $250, "running bad". At one point, it seemed I was unable to win in significant pots while being ahead.
I was crushed, so decided to lay the smackdown on poker. Roll going down that much and installing of Win7 made me put poker on the slow heat, let it sit there for awhile while I think about my next move. I have not touched the grind seriously until about the beginning of May. I only decided to grind again upon seeing some people visiting my bar, even though I had not updated in a few months.
I had a little motivation again, and decided to do some grindage. Put goals for myself, which were try to reach any VIP Level that was not bronzestar. I started May again in full speed.
But again, midway through May, I was running like absolute dogshit. I have not been able to put together wining days playing the same games I so soundly crushed just two months prior. I started seeing monsters under the bed. Stars was out to get me. Whenever I had a pair, someone had a better pair and I gave him or her full action. Whenever I had Ax, someone had Ax+ and again I gave him full action. Get it in good, lose. get it in bad, lose. It started to get on my nerves.
At some point, I deposited some money to get my roll back to around $500 and see if its psychological reasons behind my losing. But it continued. Break-even session after losing session after break-even session.
Had I lost it? What the fuck is wrong with me? Why do I lose so much, and how is it so that people seem so lucky vs me in allins?
It turns out, that somewhere along my now short hiatus from poker, I went into complacency mode. I was not competitive anymire. I couldn't give a damn. I thought "hey, I achieved silverstar 4-tabling, I'm on the top of the world! Maybe I should try for goldstar, ... meh, later". And I forgot how to play.
I was getting beat, sure, but showdown poker is idiot's poker and I have stated this a long time ago in my other blogs too. I just forgot it. I forgot the fundamentals, the core gameplay that makes a player to be able to win at least in my case.
I have tried and tried to get back in the zone, but to no avail. I have dropped a ton of buyins since I started to play again this month. I ceased to win.
But then, it happened. Somewhat. I have won a few games again. I have started to see things like I saw them before. And this is good.
In some other post, I will cover life.
Basically, it means, JUNE HERE WE COME.
TL;DR
THE EPIC RESIDENT COSMOPOLITAN ICONOCLAST BARMAN IS BACK.
I will try to put down 1K VPPs total, play 4 2-hour sessions of basketball, run for half an hour in the morning and fuck 3 different girls within the next 5 days. GOGOGOGOGOGO
0/1000 VPP
0/3 Girls
1/4 Basketball sessions
1/4 morning runs
0/1000 VPP
1/3 Girls
2/4 Basketball sessions
2/4 morning runs
LOL, why when I want to grind I will not get time to grind? Its like a curse. WTF
But I can't compromise the others, since, well, health first. We'll see.
Looks like you're priorities are straight, keep up the effort!
Thanks man.
Here's a fitting tune:
http://www.imeem.com/people/0LT-aYn/...easy-life-mix/
Also, tonight I saw the juciest regularly running 3/6NL live game ever. I already know what to do with my profits (when I eventually stop breaking even and/or running bad). Either busto or robusto baby!
I'd need at least 3BI before taking a shot imo
0/1000 VPP
2/3 Girls
4/4 Basketball sessions
3/4 Morning runs
It was a hectic week, but no poker. I am also going abroad today, so no direct internet access for a week.
Great 80's cheese:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EHpozHn-QA
ok so get the fucking poker in there somewhere... so it took me 5 tries to type somewhere, im kinda drunk. but seriously, either get the poker in or change the order of your goals to girls/basketball/runs/poker (which is perfectly acceptable)
hahaha i hear ya.
i was out on vacation last week, so no poker at all again. No basketball or runs either. See what I did there?
This week, play resumes though.
Thanks for dropping by! Here's a little something for ya I discovered while on my trip:

But do you know what people really want? They want what they’ve got. It’s a simple formula: You have what you want because your actions produced your results. Not your words and certainly not your wants.
I dont know what I want and neither how to find out. I thought the trip to the middle east will enlighten me and give me a better idea of myself, instead Im just focusing on being 11 for the next 24 hrs.
The great quote currently in my sig will help you with that. Ponder on this for a bit.

Dilemma's.
A friend just called me up to ask what I thought about 3 weeks in Colombia by the end of July. He is very busy, but another friend of ours (whom he kept better contact with than I did) is getting married and invited him over for his marriage in Portugal. My friend would then tell his people he went out to Portugal, but instead, we would go to Colombia obv. For 3 weeks.
Colombia, as I have mentioned various times before, is chock-full of the most stunning babes you will ever see. I obviously want to go there as much as a fat kid wants to go to a candy store. As much as George Foreman wants to grill. But a few problems came up with this suggestion:
a) I'd probably need an estimate of at least $2K for the trip, taking into account a cheap $30 hotel and spending money.
b) I have been going out quite a lot lately with a ladyfriend who is in town and who is, incidentally, from Colombia. I always pay for the girl whenever we go out.
c) I was planning to buy one of those petite laptops, and I really need it for future plans I have. With the accessories, like a tote and a sleeve, its probably about $1.25K pre-shipping. If I'm going to Colombia, I'd need it.
d) I was also planning to go on a cruise with a whole group of friends. The cruise takes place in November, but I would need to pay it off mid-August. That's about 1.5K. And if I go on the cruise, I'd need the laptop too, but its a bit far away so its a non-issue right now.
So, unless I start regularly getting in $200 days, Its not gonna happen within such a short timespan. Something's gotta give. The question is: What?
Edit: and then I see my sig.
Quote:
But do you know what people really want? They want what they’ve got. It’s a simple formula: You have what you want because your actions produced your result. Not your words and certainly not your wants.
Money is just paper, go for it.
I missed out on the Vegas trip this year and realize I shouldn't have. I've got enough money, and can make more. The 1k I would have spent in Vegas (if not more) would have taken a dent into what we have saved, but I realize now I could have made it.
To make up for it I'm going to Vegas August 1st-3rd, then Jamaica the 4th-10th (the Jamaica trip was already planned). Freaking just go for it or three months from now you'll be saying, "damn, I should have done that."
You are right UG. Now I'm undergoing some hardcore grindage to get the monies.
And thanks for dropping by. Here, grab a cold one
http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/1349/hoegaarden.jpg
I see you brought three, counting you and UG there´s one left for me, right?
Only thing I can say is: Make dat mobniez and travel as much as you can and spend as much time with your friends as you can.
I could have finished my studies almost a year ago, had I spent more time with reading and writing and less time with freinds, adrenalin, girls and booze. I confessed to my dad, that my degree is gonna take some more time, cuz Im a lazy fuck and he was like:" Well, better live your life now, instead of leaving kids and wife behind in some midlife crisis later on"
Tnx for the words man, I'm in grind mode for a few days now. I will either make it or fail admirably.
Tonight I'm having

In my opinion, the Vodka is always for the short skirted chick, even if she's on a star trek glass.
On a somewhat different topic, this pic makes me think that I should have more mixers at the home bar. Maybe I should have mojito mix or something. Tips from the playa/bartender?
edit:wars becomes trek... I blame the crown royal. Next stop: glen livet 21yr.
Barman's choice: I need two meters of good beer and a place to fall over.
@dev: not really, you just need the essentials at home. Like OJ, Coke, Sprite, Lemons, tons of ice, and a rum of choice, whiskey of choice, and a vodka of choice. You might go crazy and add cognac, vermouth, gin or tequila, but very few people will drink this casually when at your home.
Going for mojito's and caipirinha's at home, while nice, is possibly overkill imo. Time is much better spent in kickass lighting and sound, and a good bed. Skip TVs, really.

So, I have a renewed interest in bikes.
I was discussing with a friend about bikes, and I did not know any of the terms or whatever.
Then I embarked upon the net, to see what's up.
I found a few, most notably the Yamaha Raider 2009
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/7...dersxv1900.jpg
And then another friend of mine pulled up in a Suzuki Intruder 2009
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5...m1800r200c.jpg
At this point I was ecstatic about Japanese hogs (I'm learning the terminology here), but the first friend i was discussing with, an older guy, insisted that I should check into Harley Davidson. So I went to the website and I found this:
2009 V-Rod Muscle VRSCF
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/5...c01swsw128.jpg
which I think is like the most good looking of these kinds of bikes I ever saw. its 17K, which apparently is a lot for bikes. And apparently, because its a Harley, it does not depreciate as fast as the other two. Plus any of the above bikes get at worst 40 MPG, and imagine the chicks you would pick up. which got me thinking...
At the moment, I need my own transport. Transportation issues have fucked me up for the last few weeks, because my main car, a big black suv, is down to the shop for repairs but apparently its parts are made of unobtainium. My second car, a mt old mazda coupe, cannot be driven by my mother, but apparently she needs to be everywhere during the whole day, so I have to put my life on halt to chauffeur her around. I can do this once, maybe twice, but not for weeks straight. its driving me crazy.
Yes, I know a car is better, but it hardly if ever rains around here. Plus, its that time of my life in which I want t ride around to "BORN TO BE WILD", you know? My old english teacher, a very classy guy, used to go everywhere on his bicycle, why can't I do the same on a Harley?

You sound like a noob to bikes, so don't jump too fast. You need to ride a similar bike a couple of times to see if you want to live with such a big, heavy motorcycle. Like you say, they are also expensive. There are smaller, cheaper bikes of the same style. You might even like a "standard" type bike more than a cruiser. They are lighter and more nimble as well as being comfortable.Quote:

Tnx for the input mate. Yeah, I'm very n00b in regards to bikes.
I thought biking around was all about looking good while acting mean, and picking up all the chicks along the way? Big leather jacket, Timberlands, mosquitoes in my teeth, the works. I don't want speed inasmuch as I want a pimp ride.
And the link you gave me was great. I started looking at all the bikes, and definitely like the cruisers more than the standards. Maybe only the muscle cruisers appeal a bit more to me.
And then I saw this:

I just haven't seen turn or river blanks in a long long long time. Villains hit like barry bonds fully juiced. I cannot win allins when ahead. I cannot outdraw when behind unless i'm massive chipleader, like 9:1. I cannot hit any ten out flop draw ever. What's the chance of missing ten consecutive coinflips when it counts? I dunno, but I just did just that. Runners? I see one every single fucking game.
But posting more of these hands is not adding anything of value to my blog. So I won't.
Negativity breeds bad play which in turn breeds more negativity. Complaining that you run like shit will only make you run worse, and what's worse, no one has any sympathy whatsoever.
Whenever I run bad, I try to keep a cool head. And if that fails, as its been happening lately, I tell myself someone else has been running worse, and probably for a lot more money than I did. Its a comforting thought even though its also a bit evil, and one I hold onto tightly.

Why the hell did I raise that river? I should have kept it on the turn once I hit, with him raising and me perceving him as a full ring nit I should seriously contemplate folding.
And the most crucial question being why the hell did i limp pre?
WTF

Toto, which are some good universities in Germany? Particularly with globally recognized degrees and such, and specially with Social and Human studies like Psychology. And hot chicks obviously.
Is there any good one in Stuttgart?

I will lose some weight. I'm happy I can now attain this level of determination, which was previously impossible for me.
Cheers mate! Im sorry I didnt see this before. In general all the unis are full of hot chicks, there´s little difference amongst our universities. The Techs are quite bad pussy-wise, but thats not your prob (and very soon neither mine anymore^^)Quote:

Life's good atm, plus gonna start official phys training either today or tomorrow.
My body is my temple.
I feel as if my whole outlook on life has changed, for the better for some reason. Its difficult to put into words what's happening or what triggered it, but I like it.
My lifestyle went from sedentary back to fully active, I am doing my utmost best to keep it that way. I'm motivated, focused, happy, the colors are beautiful; I definitely like it.
Find the message in this vid. And then live by it.
Ah, women. Understanding them is an artform.
Hey iPhone,
fuck you.

The internet sucks, but the food is good and I love the women.

God dammit I need that.
I've been running like shit at poker the last few days, and a good strong whisky on the rocks will always help with that.
But fuck poker. I set out to lose some weight, and dammit I did it. I like the fact that people ask me all the time if I look a little bit skinnier or their eyes deceive them.
I have written several updates for this over the days, but it has not been possible for me to post any because I always end up not saving them, hard-rebooting the pc or whatever else. So this is a short one, this time making sure I post the bitch.
Haha you know how it is.

I am writing this post because my roll is right near my postcount once again, and I made myself that promise that I would keep.
I have not been grinding seriously since like forever. The first time I decided to grind seriously, was after I made my first $1K (poor roll management and a crazy cash game and I swung it all the way up to $5K, and then back to just around $1K, so yes, I am not to be trusted in cash games), and I wanted to make a killing. I have pretty much always played SNGs, because my tilt control is absolutely horrendous if I am not constrained (rule #1: know thyself). Online, it's easy to just sit in another cash game and go on monkey tilt because you got outdrawn once again on the river, and end up bleeding your whole bankroll to the guy who did it because you were trying to get even.
So yes, the first time I decided to grind seriously, I got bad beaten because IRL someone broke into my SUV and stole my laptop. I had just made $1K online, and felt at the top of the world. Most know how hard it is to grind up to that first philosophical milestone.
I then withdrew pretty much all of it to get a new laptop. You know how expensive laptops were back in '07. I was also grinding without an internet connection at home, so I had to stay at the Uni until like 5AM playing $4 180s (before the steal that is). After my computing equipment got stolen (a custom Asus Z70V I worked hard to buy just a year before that, which was pretty much top of the line back then), a girlfriend offered me an old Sony Vaio (which didn't even have a functioning keyboard) as an interim solution. Beggars cannot be choosers, as they say.
After that event, I really did not give a fuck to grind seriously again. I had to buy a new one, and the one I bought cost around $2K, so I withdrew the $1K I had and had to work for the other $1K. It seems that around here, when people know you got some skills, they will do everything to get those skills at their disposal cheaply, and I ended up having to work almost an equivalent of $5K to pay off the laptop I got. So no poker, just me making billboards and stickers and whatever the fuck else the guy who got me the deal needed done.
I did break the magical mark once more, and went all the way up to like $1.8K playing SNGs, and then had to withdraw again for all tons of unavoidable RL shit that happened. I am happy I had a cushion, albeit small and whatnot, that I could depend on once again when called upon.
Fast forward through all the shit and sidegames and whatnot to today, about 4 years later. During all the time that went by, I was just like Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: nothing but a shadow of my former self, forced to flee from daylight and mice and whatever. But thankfully, this month (March) marks the first month ever that I have played enough to be a Silver Star just 8 days into the month. I am shooting to get to Gold this month (I have never ever even been GoldStar during any month), and then platinum in April. I have a confidence in my game I just did not have before, and my bankroll is growing steadily, alongside my amount of VPPs. I have a plan to reach supernova, but this will go into action later this year, hopefully right around September, month in which I will be armed to the teeth in new and up to date computer equipment I will be personally getting from the States when I visit there in August.
Sitting around and not grinding is not gonna get my goals done. All the big guys, Spacegravy, DutchSlugger, A 1 i s h A, Jorge Arias etc. grinded their asses off to get where they are now. They didn't just sit around looking at forum pages and magically got all their merits in. Poker is a ruthless meritocracy, someone once said, and I am prepared to undergo the same to achieve whatever merits are in store for me.
I am fully confident that if all goes well, I will finish 2010 as a Stars Supernova. That is my current goal, and with my (current) modest amount of volume, it will present to be quite a challenge, but I will climb that mountain. I showed in the past if I set me a goal, I would do it (the weight loss thing). I will do my utmost best to not fuck this up.
Playing 6 tables currently, I am looking to move to about 10 to stabilize there. Next long-ass update will come after (if ever!) I make PlatinumStar or my roll reaches $10K. Cash games will pretty much forever remain sidegames for me, or until I can get my tilt demons under control.
The drive, and the motivation.
Just 6 hours a day. Just 6. After that, I can do as I please.
C'mon, I can definitely do this. I am currently in what we will call the preparation phase.
I got a freakin' new chair, and I already went to inquire how much for a brand spankin' new iMac 27" with core i5 in it. The preparation phase is the most important one for the coming onslaught. I will do this.
This is the next goal, monetary wise. If and when I reach 10K I will be buying one, and then things will get serious.

The HM chair... yeah I've promised myself one of those when I become baller, I think the yellows a bit lerry for me though would like blue or something. Grats on your Silverstar :) Gold star all the way now!
it sucks but I failed miserably on the GoldStar for this month. I got stuck at about 1.5K, and couldn't find the time to grind more.
That said, my internet connection seems to have finally stabilized.
Since upgrading my line to a lowly 4MB, every 3 hours or so my connection seemed to restart itself, taking a whole 5 minutes to do it. That, coupled with a few open SNGs, meant buyins flushed down the drain. Today I tried my hand at a session that started at around 6am, ended at 10AM, with only like a few secondlong hiccups, which are entirely tolerable for me.
This hopefully means that I can grind longer now with less worry of having a ton of big games open and my inet doin' its disco thing costing me a whole chunk of BIs.
And now,
Bring it on, April.

I am shooting for at least 1K tourneys total, if I get in 50 per day I can be done by the 20th and take the rest of the month off. After 1K it would depend on how I feel if I plan to play more. Obviously, 5 days on and 2 days off is better, so hopefully I will be done by the 26th or so at latest.
The aim is still at 8 tables min. for 4 hours min. per session/day. So 1K should be a little on the conservative side. @ $1+ average rake per tourney, should be a shoo in for Gold, and possibly even Platinum.
Adage of the day: if you get a bad beat and you actually care about it, it's indicative that you are playing too few tables. load more and stfu.
im really needing a drink right now..hangover cure right?
you got stella back there?
Sure! Here you go

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/151/mojitoi.jpg
the trip is in a bit of jeopardy right now. the original plan was for us to stay at a girlfriend on mine's aunt's house. but it turns out quite a few of my friends put their names as in they were going, about 8 in total. my friend does not want to inconvenience her aunt with that many mofos in her house, so she told her cousin to find a house for rent.
once that is settled, we will be on our way. supposedly beginning of august or so. without housing we will not even think about going, since staying for a month or so in a NY hotel is not something anybody but Carlos Slim Helú or Bill Gates could even think of doing.
I hope we meet Flomo!
Over the past month, I played close to 600 or so games at PokerStars. Over that span, I dropped close to $500, or about 30 buy-ins. I have literally been unable to win a single flip when it counts. Oh, I will win a flip when it's for like 15 chips, but when my tournament life is on the line, it's been lose lose lose. Lose when a favorite, lose when a big favorite, lose when a slight underdog, lose as a big underdog. I hold K9, I know for a fact that the fucker has Q9 or some other shit, think about folding, but then I call anyway. He has Q9o. Board gives him a straight, and then a flush on the end for good measure. I got kings, the dude has like 67o, lops two pair. Or he has ducks, flops quads. Boom, my chips are gone. Over and over and over again.
Not to mention all the bubbles because of this. Out of those 600 or so, I probably bubbled 150.
Holy shit. I have never been a net loser over such a sample before. But I have also never 8-12 tabled before. Coincidence? I think not.
2.3K VPP down, 700 to go. I just hope I don't piss away my entire bankroll before I become GoldStar this month, hopefully tomorrow. At least I still got like 175 Buy-ins to work with.
thanks for the drink!
damn i'll be out here before august. i'll have to get south some time.
Good Luck on the Tables!
Np.

BUMP! wipes the cobwebs from the glass...
Mix me something exotic and blue please bar tender!
GL man, just saw that you're working towards an Embody. Me and Alexos both splurged and got ourselves one and while they're great they are mega expensive. Herman Miller just came out with a cheaper version called the Sayl that looks pretty sweet imo. Link : SAYL Chairs - Products - Herman Miller
Maybe something to look at if you're in run bad mode atm.
Good luck!
