Watching Ep 3 of Season 1 of Breaking Bad. This is intense....highly recommend.
Airplane scene in ep 5 of Louie was one of best.
Well not the whole airplane thingie, but basically the concluding joke
breaking bad is sick good... and it gets better every season
Just coming in to say that the The Late Philip J. Fry was one of the best episodes of any animated show ever. I don't want to give away spoilers, but they did something with the story line that no movie or series has ever done as far as I'm aware. Even if you're not into Futurama, I highly recommend it.
omg breaking bad is awesome!
tyty
I'm starting season 2 tonight, can't wait.
And it just keeps getting better
really liked the 1st louie ep thanks for the suggestion hes a funny man , and the poker scene to open was pretty classic imo !
So I said it before and there was a disturbing lack of high5s, handshakes and agreement.
You should be watching QI.
If season 3 is any more awesome than season 2, my awesome gland is going to explode. In the first couple of episodes Bryan Cranston was still in his Hal character but the way he develops as Walter is just incredible. If he isn't bathing in awards by now, he should.
Being Human, on Space in Canada. Werewolves, vampires, ghosts...with witty British writing.
I found that got pretty boring pretty fast
Louie is so weird/awkward/awesome/etc.. It has no set formula and it's just interesting TV to me.
Eastbound and Down as well as Boardwalk Empire are starting up in September, both will be great.
gilmore girls
I can't be the only one who loves Family Guy, but hates showtunes...
>_<
Family Guy is great, also Futurama, The Deep and Louie tickle my pickles right now. Also, watch Sherlock.
all caught up on Breaking Bad. Show doesn't disappoint. Just read through this whole thread looking for my next project. I'm thinking about maybe watching a few of the recent shows that will have more seasons, although I have wanted to avoid this in the past. I already need to stay on top of Entourage, Breaking bad and Eastbound and down. Why not a couple more. Dexter and Friday Night lights I am thinking first.
Breaking bad and Dexter are awesome. I think the new Dexter season starts soon too! :-D
GUys, I think you should join getglue it's a check in service for facebook/twitter for movies/tv/music etc, but it will recommend new stuff to you based on previous 'likes'
Any new shows coming out this month that might be worthwhile to check out?
I've never been a huge fan of any drama series unless you count Entourage. Typically they are too slow, too tense, and/or too gory. The Wire was decent. Sopranos seems pretty good but I haven't watched enough. Everything else has been really boring or just doesn't agree with me.
Entourage is by far my favorite show. I think a lot of shit that happens in Entourage doesn't really make sense, and while the acting gets hated on more than it deserves, it's not great (Drama>>>>E>Ari>>>Vince>>Turtle). The entertainment value is INSANE though; I've enjoyed each season of entourage significantly more than any season of any other show.
The other shows I watch or have watched on the reg, best to worst, are:
1. Family Guy- occasionally the jokes, plots, whole episodes even, get a facepalm, but this is the only show that makes me laugh super hard consistently. If you don't enjoy family guy you are a huge donk.
2. Curb Your Enthusiasm- dont try watching it with a chick, but this show rarely blows and usually has a fantastic ending
3. Arrested Development- really sweet show conceptually and generally very clever but overall a little bland and when a joke on AD sucks it often REALLY makes me cringe. like when they tried to make a joke that buster had attended high school for an extra 2 years without anyone noticing. that kind of fail makes me want to punch people
4. Weeds- fantastic for first 3 seasons. now i want to break the tv every time i watch it
5. South Park- Either it is a shadow of its former self or I've outgrown it, maybe some combination of the two...I would rate it far behind the others now but still worth catching every episode to see what happens. When I was in junior high-high school it was by far my favorite show.
I really don't think it's worth sitting through the 90% of Family Guy that sucks for the 10% of it that's gold.
I would post a graph to prove donk status but you'll probably take me at my word.
And PS get into Sopranos, definitely worth it.
Paulie one of best characters ever
in that category I think that futurama does not get nearly enough love. Futurama imo is consistently better than south park and family guy.
in other news... Boardwalk Empire starts tomorrow!!!
What's the best way too keep track of what epiusodes are coming up and seasons. Is there an RSS or something I can use, I'm now watching so many I need to keep up with.
Just finished AD too, was worth the watch.
yeah i cant wait for boardwalk empire either. it looks great.
The Office (UK version).
Could watch every episode in a day, and you won't regret it.
Is anyone planning on watching that new ABC show, "My Generation." ???
Ive been watching Dexter (one of my gf's fav shows) and i like it. Season 5 starts soon so im trying to finish season 4 before it does. Im sure a lot of u would like it.
Modern Family season 2 just kicked off, I think it's the best comedy on TV right now
Trying to watch "Bored to Death" on HBO on demand but through 2 episodes I'm not feeling it, any thoughts on this one?
I love Bored to Death. It picks up towards the end of Season 1. Jason Schwartzman is pretty fantastic in everything he does.
Additionally, My Generation and The Defenders starts tonight. I'm pretty excited for these two new shows.
zomg Dexter rawks! Thanks guys.
and his gf loves it
Just finished season 3 of Breaking Bad, life fels a little empty now :(
Need something new, series so far I've liked: Dexter, Breaking Bad, 2 seasons of True Blood, and first 6 seasons of 24. Liked all of these. Loved lost but got bored with it after a few seasons.
Couldn't get into The Wire, bit too slow (and doesn't help that I watch these with my biatch).
Recommendations for next series based on the above?
I'm thinking 3rd series of True Blood, as first 2 were ok, then maybe Sopranos as I just missed the whole Sopranos thing over the last 10 yrs or w/e, but wondering if that will work with the misses, any other ideas? Also I need at least 1 whole series.
I still think Lost is pretty cool/addictive
My Generation was really good. I will definitely be watching this one.
Bored to Death and Eastbound and Down are both back tonight after Boardwalk Empire
Simpsons/Family Guy/Cleveland Show as well
omgomgomgomg An Idiot Abroad is finally out! Haven't seen it yet, but it's going to be the best thing ever!

I kind of lost interest in Mythbusters when it seemed like every episode the myth was: If you rig [insert destructable item here] with explosives, will it explode?
But they had some very cool episodes like when they tried to make a led zeppelin, or seesaw saga... or can you teach an old dog new tricks?
Actually they had a couple of good ones. I'm hoping the latest season doesn't dissapoint.
Zomg Mexican border slingshot! I have to rewatch that one.
Edit: They have hired a fkn epilleptic to do the mickey mousing.
Ok seriously, what is it about " It's always sunny in Philadelphia"? I'm watching this saying "meh, it has it's moments", but every so often I end up with tears streaming down my face from the Lol's. Just started watching season 3 and the football episode was epic.
Eastbound and Down (HBO)
fucking love it!
football ep was one of my favs of the season. season 4 an 5 are the best, season 6 is so far good, but i can tell they've changed up some of the writing staff, and it's not exactly the same. i cannot figure out why they didnt bring the mcpoyles back. those guys were awesome
Ok, so Mad Men, I get it. It's the 60's, people smoked a lot, they smoked anywhere and they smoked a lot. Women are second class people that cook and clean and are on the planet to find a husband and become a homemaker.
Please tell me this gets better. I'm 5 episodes in and this may be the slowest series yet.
Modern Family continues to be the best 30min show on today
Boardwalk Empire slowly but surely getting good
yeah modern family is amazing.
jyms it gets better, but not quicker. If you don't enjoy the dialogue I would not bother. But more does happen!
not many good new shows this year, we already gave up on :
Detriot 187
Running wilde
Hawaii 5-0
Hellcats
Like:
Big C
Boardwalk Emp
Lone Star (this was kinda cool but canceled)
Nikita was OK but no room on Tivo schedule, thurs at 9 too busy
Not sure
Terriers - have like 4 eps on TiVo but first few were OK, slow
Blue Bloods - only watched 1, probably won't continue
The Event - puts my wife to sleep, I kinda like it
Rubicon - have 11 eps on the tivo, if you think madmen is slow...
It started last year but anyone who likes teen soaps should def check out vampire diaries, the commercials don't do it justice.
what are the chances that a typo could not only form a legible half sentence, punctuation and all, but also make you sound so lame when what you meant to say was so awesome. But don't worry, I got you covered on the edit, buddy.Quote:
anyone who likes teen soaps should def choke on a fat cock and die.
csb
Would you call FNL a teen soap?
"Community" continues to be consistently brilliant.
I watched a few episodes of community, but I found it to be way too 90's-era-sit-comy. I still have fond memories of many sitcoms, and its fun to catch the odd Seinfeld episode, but the format is really dated, so its disappointing to see promising new shows be brought down by it.
This episode (s05e05) of Dexter made me so sad. Peter Weller (Robocop, Naked Lunch) as an extra?

I LOVE ZOMBIE MOVIES
THIS IS GONNA BE SO AWESOME
OMG OMGDOGMSDGHSDKLGH!!IGHSKGH
edit: I wish it were on hbo so it could be more awesome, but I can live with amc..
The pilot was soooo good! I don't know how well this will work a a series, but the first episode was just amazing. There was some serious Omega Man feeling at the beginning, and the lead cast just shits in Charlton Hestons face. He couldn't be more convincing. Overall I think it's the most convincing zombi movie I've seen after Return of the Living Dead, if you can call it that.
tbh, I'll keep my expectations low for the rest of the series because I don't think they will be able to maintain the level of awesomeness that they have set with the pilot. I would love if they proved me wrong tho.
Watched the first ep last night, I'll continue to watch, zombies are kewl
It's on my dvr, I'll watch it when I get home tomorrow night! I love zombie stuff.
In a related note, there's talk of Danny Boyle coming back to direct 28 months later
OH SNAP. I think a lot of people didn't like 28 weeks all that much, but I thought it was pretty awesome. Def will go see 28 months.
As for walking dead, I'll def keep watching, but I can't say that I was blow away by the pilot. Don't get me wrong.. it was good, but the acting and casting is kinda meh. Also the makeup seemed really inconsistent.. someone zombies looked like pretty impressive halloween costumes while others looked like top notch costume work done by pro's with CGI added in to put it over the top.
The character development so far as been pretty weak too. It kinda feels like the writers would be more at home on the script of Party of Five. Just like lost had some awesome sci-fi elements, WD has zombies, so I'll stomach the lame character development.
Just an FYI boost, I read some of the original comic this show is based on and quit because I found the characters extremely frustrating and annoying. I'm hoping the director of this show uses some of the ideas of the comic but doesn't stick to it too closely.
I just watched the first episode and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to more.
Second episode of the walking dead fell off a bit but the third one is apparently the nuts
Ya, I haven't read the comic, but I'm glad someone else can at least see what I mean. Its not unbearable yet (haven't watched s01e02 yet), but I am just a bit worried since I already am having an issue with it and the show just started. Really, I wish they had just licensed Left 4 Dead. The game has a pretty big following and there was a big mainstream ad campaign for it, so its a recognizable franchise, and they would have way more autonomy when it comes to a storyline since the game is multiplayer based.
edit: just watched s01e02. Not bad, but still the writing and acting can be so dull at times. "Would that be considered theft?" Seriously? Worst line and worst line delivery all wrapped into one. That little scene could have easily be reworked in a way that didn't seem so improbable, but also would have foreshadowed them hooking up in the future by being a little more flirty.
I'm going to keep watching because its not lolbad, and zombies are cool, but I have a feeling that it will never quite live up to my hopes for the first hour long zombie TV show.
