1/20 two table home game w/ points awarded = $190+I knocked out a Bounty player for $25 total = $215!!
I broke the 3k br mark.
I was out stacked three to one, when we started and the hand before that I had busted him for the chip. I knew that Q was seven better than a random hand and I was patterned in tilt. This was the next hand, after I had the chip and lead in Shark Scope he was one of the most important player to lose and had said that it was his first final table .. I patterned he was shoving ATC will tilt. It was a guess, but I have luck and was right.

Well I haven't won anything or been placed yet but am slowly getting there... I entered a tournament yesterday with 1000 entrants and was placed in the high 90s...
I entered another three today and in the last one I finished 94....
I seem to be bailing out in the 90s
Problem I had this time around was every had more chips than me such a horrible thing, because you never know if they are just forcing your all in because they can, or because they have a nuts hand.
I had about 8k chips everyone else had about 30k, I had AKo UTG and raised to 4x big blind plus 3x big blinds (1200 chips) the guy I was playing called.
Flop came out with A 7 Q
So I've got high pair as there's two aces I'm thinking chances of him having an ace are low, so am thinking he might have a Q plus a highesh kicker.
Anyway he ends up raising by my chips count, I check.
Turn brings out a 8 and river something else, he has Q and 8.
I think I played the right move so have concoled myself with the fact that If I keep playing the right moves I'm going to start my bankroll off eventually with one of these 4$ prizes!
well done mufa and dj!
Update:
Just reached my first milestone in my challenge to turn zero into 20,000 $ (hehe... could take some time)
Well, not really a milestone more a milimetre stone!
I was placed in a tournament that resulted in a cash prize...
http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/3355/firstwinir0.png
There were 500 runners and I finished in the 40's which is consistent with the general pattern at the moment (i'm finishing in the last 9/10's) but falling at that stage. I'm not sure if it's because of my ability level or if i'm just mentally phasing out at that stage. I'll have to work hard to particularly refocus in the later stages.
The reason being. I finished in the 90s in a 1000 runner comp today, and the same yesterday - so I'm not quite sure if that's my ability at the moment or just mental weakness!
Anyway. This is the first tiny weeny step in the right direction! :)
$20,000? What happened to $100,000? Bigred isn't going to be happy knowing you are stopping at $20K since he wants you to give him some of your moneys when you get to $100K.
haha! well... if 20,000 hasn't devalued by more than 1000% by the time I reach it I will continue onwards and upwards, but this is the first part of the project and I'm sure it will keep me occupied for a couple of years!
I just hope it's as easy as playing with play money, I have 670,000 play money chips on pkr ! (wishful thinking stops here, I know it won't be ;p )
REDBRG - wow congratulations man, must have been a great feeling seeing that last card appear - that's amazing :-) I read you would have to play for 8 hours a day for a certain number of years to statistically get a royal flush... CONGRATULATIONS!
Well after about 4 months of play I finally broke the 1k milestone today... yay me!
http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7...tonefc8.th.jpg
congratulations! the first $1k is always the most difficult to earn.
I just placed 6th in AP's Juicy July Freeroll last Wednesday, my first final table in a tournament after placing 15 the day before & cashed $25.00.

*Am dominating 5NL. Crushing w/o a doubt thanks to FTR/IRC-ftr
Today I won 1k in one hour, 350 hands, my best ever (in 200 NL). Was just going to play a couple of hands before going out to meet friends (which I'll do shortly) with the aim of getting 200 dollars in one hour (my current goal per session), then completely donked out on the 1st hand when I called a 7$ raise with 67 s. The board came up 45 of hearts (my suit, of course) and a king. Of course I bet, he raised, I reraised he even more so and I pushed. And no hearts or the two cards I needed came up (I mean, 8 or 3 of hearts, how hard can it be???)and he had AK. And I was 200 dollars down with donk written all over my face and the notes of everyone watching.
After that things righted itself quickly. I hit my flushes, I had (probably drunk) oppos calling down my over bets on river with str8s when I had the flush, I correctly put a 3-better on QQ or JJ when I had kings and took him down, I got lucky while reraising my set of sixes on a board with two spades, getting reraised and then pushing in the last of his 40 bucks. 5 of spades came up, then 5 of hearts and his flush didnt mean much. And took down a couple of hundred here and there with bluffs where I was (reasonably) sure villain wasn't on a proper hand.
It was one of those glorious nights of poker when you know you ARE the best and make the correct calls (yeah right). Warm fuzzy feeling inside, I'm now happy and content whereas a week ago I was down and out with 1K lost in one night when my aces got cracked twice by sets and nothing worked. So I'm also writing this post to be able to go back at it and remember this one the next time I hit a downslide.
Finally got my my roll up to $100 playing 2nl on PS. Started off with a deposit of $10.
Depositing another $50 now and moving up to 5nl. When I take roll up to $250 will deposit another $100 and move to 10nl
Played in the Pokerstars Summer Games Promo - Pot Limit Omaha this week. These are freerolls where in the first game you have to place in the top 50 to get a ticket to the next one. You get $5 for hitting the top 250. First round earlier this week I made it - game froze once you hit the top 50 (I was around 30th).
So today played the round 2, 1400 players, top 140 get $20, top 5 get a seat at the finals. I played the first 2 hours and was in the top 10 for about 30 mins with 500 players left to go. Took an hour to eat supper (sat out) and played with the kids, played a few hands and finally kicked it in at 130th. Woulda been fun to shoot for top 5, but woulda had to spend at least another 2 hrs intent on playing (just wasn't a convenient time).
Best part: I HATE PLO. :P
Never played it before. Maybe I should give it more thought?.... Nah
:diamond: @Poker Stars: Little over a month ago i decided to forgo bank roll management temporarily. I was playing $1.00 s&g 9 handed NLH. My BR. was down to only $12.00. Started playing $3.40 9 handed NLH s&g. Now my humble BR. Is $54.00. @Carbon Poker: i entered my first bounty ($11.00 NLH ) I came in first and won little over $50.00.
Your honing bad habits by forgoing BRM. But nice score anyways.Quote:

playing 1 table $10 SnG exclusively (after trying everything from $1 to $20.
in the past 2 or 3 weeks, I went from a bankroll of 3 buy ins (started at 10 with the option to put another 10), to 30x.
I had lost a lot of money in the 1st week I started playing online, and now I'm within 15 bucks of breaking even.
So I'm pretty happy :)
I've kept from having to redeposit. Got down to $22 then won a small $2 MTT for $138. Wife is so happy I didn't ask for more money!
Ok I am totally siked! I just finished a session and I have to say I played some kickass poker. I opened two tables .5/.10 and bought in with $4 each table. I played the smartest most concentrated poker I have in a long time. I made some great folds and perfect reads. I ran like 17/12/4 and got some great value out of the few hands I did play.
I fought of the erge to play marginal hands and some pretty good hands OOP. This was a major step for me as I typically make the basic noobie mistake and get cocky, startingp playing things like suited connectors etc., but not today baby!
I know this would not be a big deal for many of you but I am just really excited that I put together all the things I've been reading for the last couple weeks on FTR. This made for a good session.
In the end I started feeling like it was slipping away so I did the right thing and stepped away. I added 3.5 BI's to my BR and some confidence that if I do the right thing then good things happen in my poker world!
Now the next challenge will be to do it all over again with the same discipline as I did tonight!
Well I'm going to take a shot at a $3 MTT and see if I can get ITM. Wish me luck!!!
Well hot damn the streak continued pretty well for me. I entered a $3 MTT along with 386 others. I played really tight for the first round only playing 3% of the hands. Mid way through the second round I got down to 800ish chips and I believe the blinds were 200. Found the right time and got all my chips in the middle with three callers and bam back in the game.
Continued to play very smart and patient. Picking up good pots when premium hands. Next thing I know I'm in the money and above average chip stack. I knock out a couple more good hands and suddenly it's FT time. I played it very smart as I was short but figured I still hand to be patient. Well I ended up in 5th adding $67.73 to my BR along with several knockouts which were .50 each.
Overall today was a great day and I owe it all to what I've gleamed from the wise men and woman on FTR!
BR started the day at $81.25 ended at $154.23
THANKS
i broke the 400 mark :P
Finally!! I'm positive.
In the first 10 days I lost about $300, playing everything from low stakes cash tables, to every sng from $1 to $20.
After that I've been playing $10 SnGs exclusively for about a month now, and now I'm positive, with $14.05 in profits. (about 350 total games since the beginning)
Sharkscope shows $-17, but I won a bit in a regular cash table, + the 1st deposit bonus, and I'm counting that. (I never imagined I'd be playing so much, and I only deposited 25 bucks at first)
:)
This is tiny compared to what some of you guys achieve, but....
Was finally a winning player after 6 months of playing Single Table SNGs and 27 / 45 man MTTs. Then came the most horrible losing streak. After blowing over half of my bankroll (and going a tiny bit crazy) I took 2 weeks off, relaxed, did other things etc. It slowly started to dawn on me how much I'd been over complicating things, trying to be too clever, too tricky. I'd built my bankroll on playing ABC poker and I realised that that had somehow gone out of the window.
So.....
I just finished my first Micro stakes SNG in 2 weeks. I FORCED myself to play my A Game, as basic and 'simplistic' as that may be. And I won.
Woo!
Won my first SNG last night.
Promptly followed it up by 2 2nd places and another win!
It was at seriously micro stakes, but still, the first step on the long road :D
My accomplishments this week:
1. Doubled my bankroll in two days (around $300 to over $600).
2. Made my first cash out ($500) to pay the rent.
3. Played my first serious sessions of ring games and had two very good sessions.
4. Nearly doubled my newly-decreased bankroll in one day ($130 to $230).
I've had a pretty big week. I deposited $50 back in early October, and in a month's time, I took it up to almost $700. After that I had a pretty bad, up-and-down run (bad cards, bad beats, bad play) that took my bankroll back below $300.
1. This week I have been playing much better and having some luck. I played in like 6 or 7 of the $11 27-man SNGs on Stars, winning 2, finishing 2nd once, and getting in the money another time. Between that, winning a $16 9-man turbo (once my 'roll was over $500 again), and doing well at 0.50/1 LO8, I got my bankroll back up to a healthy $630.
2. I've been playing poker pretty much full time over the last month and a half, not working any other jobs, living off some money that I had saved up. That money just ran out this month, but I was able to cash out $500 to pay the rent this month. This is a huge milestone for me... turning $50 into an amount of money that I can live off of, while still having some left to continue playing.
3. Since my cash out took my bankroll dangerously low, too low to continue playing the $11 27-man tourneys, I turned to mostly ring games today to get it back up. I had worked up to 0.50/1 LO8 before my cashout so that was mainly what I played, but I also mixed in a couple $11 9-man SNGs (very cautiously) and a game of 0.02/0.05 NLHE. I lost my SNGs, but my cash game winnings were enough to bring today's winnings to about $100. So today was my first really good session of cash game poker... I might just be a convert.
4. Winning that $100 while not playing too underrolled meant that I nearly doubled my money again, for the second time in half a week. Getting back over $200 after cashing out leaves me feeling very comfortable and a lot less worried about being forced to drop down in stakes. I can pretty safely move up to 0.05/0.10 NLHE now with my sites set on 0.10/0.20, and it won't be long before I can move up in LO8 stakes as well.
So overall I'm up $633 (from $50) in less than 2 months, along with a $50 deposit bonus. My next goal is to get up to about $1500 (hopefully within a month and a half) so that I can take out $600 to start a FT account and another $600 to pay January's bills while still leaving me with some money at Stars. We'll see how realistic that is...
Started a roll with play money, converted it into 12$ real money. Now, Im at 25 nl and almost 700$, not a single reload whatsoever :D
I placed 3rd in the FTR freeroll tonight! Making the final table and getting a nice cash was good to help reenergize me for grinding through the micros.

Well after playing pretty much all day long and loosing about 1/5 of my BR I decided to play a MTT. So I bought in to a $3+$0.30 along with 401 others. I decided I wanted to be ultra tight during the first round so I readwhile keeping an eye on my table as not to miss any of the top 3 which I managed to catch a couple and doubled up 3 or 4 times. Reading this was perfect and I played like a rock.Quote:
soupie's Win MTT Poker
At the first break I was running 15/10/44. I opened up all most all of the tables and let HEM work for me while I continued to play like a rock.
Made it ITM and figured hell this game plan is working well so I continued playing really tight. Next thing I knew I was sitting at the final table.
Now my original goal was to at least make 6th which would give me enough added to my BR that I could cash out of FT, $100 minimum, and transfere to PS to start my grind properly.
Well long story short I think I can truly say the only stupid hand I played was when I push over the top of a 3bet with my opened ended str8 draw. Well guess what that's the one that busted me out of the tourney!
Dealer: HarleyGuy13 finishes in 5th place and wins: $81.20 :P
Goal accomplished +1! Made my day

Woo. On a side note, I'm pretty much halfway to 5nl now. Double woo.
Man I was on a bad run of not getting to the final table and thats what I base my play on I don't base it on cashing only I had a 1-10 FT ratio before I started playing alot of ring games and then my play slipped and it went down to a 1-14 ratio but finally this week I hit two final tables in a row I came in 7th in one becuase I had to post fold it do to having a Christmas Party to go to I left in second place with 22 people left so I'm surprized I final tabled that one and the next tourney I played the next day I came in 4th place after getting a horrible beat lol had AA vs 57os and guy spiked 5 on flop and 7 on river of course and finished me 4th. but so far I am having decent success at MTT's I play adjust to table if the table is loose I play tight if table is tight I play suited connectors and un suited connectors added with AQ+ os and Ax s in position otherwise ATs+ and all pairs depending on situation. If the table is loose I play AK+ AQs+ and TT + and then adjust as table does.
Ever since a friend of mine took €15k in the Belgian open, tournaments have peaked my interest. But I have no experience with them apart from railing him, so I was entering some on prima with VIP points. After 2 PL HE tourney busts, today I played a $5.50 NLHE and came in 34/600 for $14, and a $3.30 6-max NLHE and 28/800 for $10 (end sucked, busted on a 70/30).
Peanut money, but a pretty cool experience and I think I'm gonna play more of them.
YAY!

I got into the last 99 of a hubbles holdem tournament on pokerstars, I advanced to the weekly round 2 2000 prize pool tournament, i went out, coundnt catch cards worth playing with at all. And i got to the last 50 in a hockey challenge round 1 on pokerstars, im in the semi final now, it plays in 5 days im pumped lol
William, (Willforrest) on pokerstars
Played a local cash game for the first time, the other night, and actually went home up $15 from my original $20.
I bought in with $10, turned it into 123 but finished up 30something.... should have milked the profits instead of giving it all back!!!! Lesson Learned.
I won a tournament! My 3rd biggest cash ever. €1 entry, and €64 payout for first.
I have also learnt how to make profit at 2nl ring games now. Boy its hard work, but I can average almost +$1/hr I think. Just need to remember to play when I am awake, not asleep.
Won my first live MTT. I took a really bad hit to my chip stack at the start but didn't panic, just waited until I had some good cards and managed to double up.
After that I played some of the best tournament poker I've ever played, really focused and a lot more aggressive than usual. Made it to the final table as one of the short stacks. Everyone was so tight as they payed 7 of 72 and there were 9 left I made a real effort to blind steal as much as possible. Made the money, doubled up and managed to win the thing. Not much money won for first by most people's standard's, but it meant a lot to me.
I managed to pull off a 4th place finish in the NLHE Freeroll on Pokerstars (out of 9000) which got me a ticket into this mornings Round 2 - giving me a shot at real money.
i won seat in $2000 freeroll and won 40 cents and grinded it up over $4 in 10 cent tourneys and sit&go's.I know this is penuts to most of you,but i done it with no way of putting money on pokerstars.I plan to move up when i get over $10
Have managed to finally play decent online poker. Not an easy thing when you're an old casino vet like me, and only played live until recently. Figuring out these forums too. Let's call that an accomplishment as well, for now. Still don't know how people play 20 tables.
small potatoes for this forum...i cashed in a ftp freeroll over the weekend.... id been getting in the top 100 or so for a while..
did wonders for the ego even if nothing for the br
