You may be inducing a bluff on the river, but without a read?

2) Do we think he can fold to a $12 bet > 35%? We might beat like 5% of his range here, so I hate to just check if we can find a way to profitably bluff. It's great for metagame, too.

in #1 I felt like his range is so weak, that I wont get more than two streets of value anyway. It seems to me, that a bet - check - bet line usually gets a second call more often than a bet - bet - bet/check line. Im rarely firing this turn with air and theres a decent chance at these tables that opponent will bet the river turning his 86/44/A2 into a bluff. Im not a big fan of pot controlling turns, but it seems to work good for value.

Not sure what to make of #2, I figure to have some sd value and he won´t ever fold any heart. I may very well get him off AJ/KQ/AQ tho.

This month still sucks as Im still in the red (basically I am since Dec 08). Lot of pressure on my roll since semester fees are due and some bills want to be paid, so 50nl is my place to be right now. Off topic:

Since like half of the OPs around deal with getting in shape as well I´m gonna write a bit about my progress.

I´m gonna be in sick shape this summer. After chilling out almost the entire december I got back to the gym and my running shoes. I´m out running three times a week, getting in 15 to 20km/week. The weather sucks big time, as we still have loads of snow and ice and it´s kinda hard to run a decent average. I´ve signed up for the Hannover half marathon in early May and am aiming at <1:35hrs. I´m gonna run the HM with a friend mine and he´s already ahead of me.

Bike- and skateparks are closed, so that theres gonna be no dirtjumping and dh training the next weeks, until the tracks are free from snow again I´m sticking with snowboarding to get my weekly fix of gravity and speed.

To improve overall strength and body tension and to lower the risk of getting injured when Im racing Im hitting the gym three times a week and am indoor climbing two times a week. Basically I just began to climb, but got all hooked up. Looking forward to go climbing outdoor when the spring arrives.

GL w/ the HM. 1:35 is way faster than I'll run. I've been a distance runner for 30+ years - I started when I was a little kid. I really like what the running craze has done for the sport with so many quality road races and courses and support nearly every weekend of the year. So best of luck. I hope it all works out for you, especially the half marathon.

What it comes down to is that a scare usually polarizes our opponents betting ranges, ie he´s more likely to continue with his bluffs and less likely to valuebet the thinner part of his range. Turn brings the Kh and since our villian has been told at DC/CR/2p2/FTR that this is a good card to double barrel, so he goes ahead and fires all of his bluffs and semi bluffs along with his nut range. Interesting thing is, that most villians are not thinly value betting their in between pairs like a J or TT. I'm running through scenarios in my mind. I definitely think you're right. Villains with a reasonably wide stealing range often fail to play their medium strength hands aggressively. Interesting how the equity works out in this hand.

Im so tilted and upset right now. It´s my first day into semester break and was so excited to have time to really grind again and I get smacked right in the face. Fucking HM missed the HHs, but I just had AA<KK pfai, JJ<44 on J47 and 99<QQ on 934 witin 20 minutes, along with a couple of smaller beats and some spew I dropped 5 BI in no time, shortly before I had this month in the green again. FML. I know, variance blah blah but this fucking variance shit going on for months is driving me fucking insane. Im thinking about quitting again in the back of my head, but theres no way I can´t beat these games. Seriously, wtf is going on?

This post sounds so fishy and stupid even to myself, but I can´t see where this is grind is going to take me? How am I supposed to stay motivated and focused to play well, when I get shit no matter what I do?

I do study and analyze. I do eat and sleep well. I follow decent BRM. I do workout and do have a social life outside poker. I am aware of when I do well and when I suck. I see what my opponents are doing and adjust accordingly. I do not let specific hands during a session have an impact on my state of mind. And still all I get is a kick in the balls in the end. 18 BI below ev over 80k hands yadda yadda (and thats only the ai coolers). Im not far from seriously considering riggedness. I never believed in doom-/boomswitches, but fuck, what else is this suposed to be?

#1: I call, the runner runner fish hit, but our range is pretty weak so the fish could be trying to steal the pot and we have top2. Yup bet bigger turn.
#2: I'm happy to check behind, here, either we are way behind any pair or way in front of anything else and plus we have position. If he has 77-88 he would never fold to a flop bet after calling a 4bet with it.

Im not sure about the AJ, but you´re prob right about A5/A4/A9. I get scared, when the passives suddenly wake up, but in hindsight folding seems sucky.

Feb wasn´t a good month at all. Actually, I ran like dog shit at ongame and took like enough beats for months. 18+ buy in gap between ai EV and $won puts me on life tilt. Going thru HM I realized, how I took that run as an excuse to not look at the hands I butchered. I´m playing horrible damnit! It´s like my plays make total sense to me during the hand and when I get back to them few days later I feel too embarrassed to even post some of them here.

Getting a stake at FT is a good thing. I feel comfortable there and can´t say that 50nl plays a lot different than on euro sites. Overall I haven´t got into many 3-/4betting wars and can´t remember tangling with specific opponents. I´m grinding along and get stacked by feesh, over 50k hands at ongame I´m up on most "regulars" and have several 44/7 types vs whom I´m down one or two buy ins each. Depressing to see the bad players beat the shit out of me.

I lost my track somewhere after the first multi buy in drop in Jan. It´s like I got sucked out on a bit and then decided to play almost exclusively a showdown game vs the donks. The old micro stakes mantra of "make a hand, take them to value town". As a result I got raped in non-SD pots and the reliance on few big hands per session made my variance skyrocket, along with phases of insane monkeytilt, when things like JJ<44 on J42 occured.

#1: The problem is that he is repping only a FH ... a 1 AF guy is not pushing worst here ... maybe flush at worse ...
In the heat I think I call, but seeing the hand I would say it's a fold.
#2: Tough fold. Nity is not bluffing missed draws here vs your line.
#3: I Jam the flop. Our equity on the turn goes down a lot if we don't hit.
#4: I would call vs this guy and never 3bet with that hand.
#5: Why do you take an average hand here to bluff the river? better take a complete bluff.
#6: Why do you bet over pot on the river? Do you think that villain can fold an Ace? If you put him more on a FD then $20 would be enough.

On #5, I rarely, if ever get here with less than TP, so I am bluffing the bottom of my range. Actually turn is more questionable, but his sizing made me elect to call. I´m pretty sure he mucks 2pr, not sure about the Jx.

#6 is expensive, yes. I just figured, that this person has way more in his range than pair+, I´ll give him credit for calling down loads of FD´s and gutters and don´t have any Sd value vs those 36s and KTs

How'd we miss the turn on #5? It's like the theory of greater pain, it looked fine when we saw the river.

When I went back to the turn, I was thinking that this is fine if we intend to bluff scare cards AND we think he can fold a good portion of his range when a flush hits. I think the flush is still in his range, so this whole line is really borderline.

The call on the river sucks, the fold makes the turn suck even more, the push has some merit based on the scare card. Still, I think folding is the best play.

Ongame has me still on lifetilt/doomswitch. after doing well at FT I loaded some 100nl tables at tower at got stacked again right off the bat. Gotta admit that most of it was pretty spewy, tilting after losing two flips and a couple of small pot beats. The nightmare continues, its like almost always when I catch a hand they either have the nuts or total air they fold on the flop. Driving me insane, literally.

Take a break man. February ended REALLY bad for me. I gave myself a day off for perspective, considering taking my money out of my main site, etc. I was considering a lot of stuff like playing on another site without RB or just going back to live poker. After a couple of days I was just like, wtf, it's variance, it got to me. A few nights sleep and I had perspective on it. I'm a winning player, so are you. Just keep playing, and do everything you can to forget shit like "they either have the nuts or total air". You have an edge, you WILL win over time. Simple.

Yea, once again I got fancy. I do flat the Aces once in while vs EP raises (HH is messed up, we´re 5 handed)

I like the first hand. If he knows we're floating him a lot, especially on a dry board like that, he can easily put us on a king.

I hate flatting a single raise with aces pre-flop, but this type of play has worked fairly well against my laggtard ass enough, so I can't really say it sucks. There's a lot of draws in there but I think the most likely holdings are like 88 and JJ. Slightly ahead/way behind... The bet is just too big.

Title change, since making pancakes has shown to be a powerful tool of tilt control for me. As I´m writing this, I´m running between the kitchen and my comp, listening to Jewel and making awesome pancakes. Actually I´m using an instant pancakes mix, cuz I´m a lazy ass but they still can be considered "awesome". I´ve found, that using resolidified butter is the key to deliciouseness. I can´t eat as many pancakes as I´d like to make, which let´s me see myself opening a pancake bakery and getting rich of other people having breakfast. not a bad idea, since they aren´t yet as popular here as they are in other parts of the world.

I prefer them with chocolate chips and bananas, with blueberries or with peanutbutter and jam. I´m gonna try out some sort of "multigloboincredibilo fitness pancake" with protein powder and oatmeal soon.

Overall it´s still a good month, I run great in PFAI flips and am still very happy with FTP. 1) When I'm at the table I call this tourette's syndrom poker. Usually the spaz on the river is a big hand, so fold for sure.

2) You wanna punch nutsinho? A smallish 3bet followed by calling a 4bet... unless you've gotten out of line recently with the preflop agro, I have to believe you're beat. I think I'd pause and check/fold and reeval the turn.

3) My first thought is that it's a power min-raise so it's a big hand, but then it's also a big donk, so I think pretty much anyone goes broke with aces here.

So things have been going really well lately. When I opened this thread I was about to write something like "oh noes I run hawt, Im scared that bad things will happen to me" but apparently thats not the case. In todays sessions I happened to run in god mode, but overall it seems like Im just doing better than before. I managed to cut my nonSD losses in half and actually have decent streaks, where the red line does not drop over several k hands. Prob to some degree just a FT thing, where games play way less aggro than ongame´s, the sweet software doesnt tilt me as much and Im table selecting better than before. Compared to ongame table and seat selection is way easier, b/c empty seat actually are empty and not just appear emtpy until you try to sit down.

I feel bad for not studying anything regarding poker atm, but I have two exams to take until Wed and will prob start reading and watching vids again when those are thru.

April is still going goot. I think I can play some 1/2nl soon enough, I just want to finish my exams before I can fully focus on poker again. I had an okay morning session and an awesome bike session yesterday. Snow and ice are melting and trail after trail becomes rockable again, so we went to a bikepark nearby and got our downhill training for this season started. It took me a while to get used to the new bike and I was amazed how fast that thing is going when u stay off the brakes. British craftsmanship ftw. The guy I went riding with is incredibly fast and I learned quite a lot about choosing lines and cornering. I pussied out when I came to the final jump, which is a high speed 36 foot gap and I feel really bad about it. Next time Im gonna make it, promised. I already have enough speed when Im coming out of the forrest and have the technique to pull such jumps (I usually take jumps this big, when there´s no gap between the transition and the landing), I´m just having a mental blockade.

So Im finally done with exams and stuff. I gotta write two termpapers on the reliabilty of elctric networks and another on local power production before Im taking up my internship during summer. Yet, there will be enough time to log a decent number of hands until then. Recent days were swingy swongy, but overall okay despite some major spews.

So Im still having a decent pokermonth. I cut my session length to 60 mins and seem to do better this way. Actually, I dont have a set time limit, I just quit when I start browsing FTR or pron while playing, which is usually after 60 - 80 mins. Otherwise Im doing okay, Im grinding a "solid" tagfishy 20/18 style and so far people cant or dont want to exploit me. Im less FPSy and if Im doing weird it mostly on the turn, where FE is usually quiet high.

I had an awesome day yesterday going downhill riding. I cant emphasize enough how sick the new machine is. Pick your line and go dor it, no matter what might be in your way. Not much poker for me lately as I´ve been busy with rocking the trails and building/shaping. Yesterday was again amazing as we went to one of europe´s largest bikeparks. Went there with a couple of pro racers who again showed me how to go really fast and how it´s all about picking the right line. No worries about how to carry speed thru the turns, when u can go almost straight thru left/rights if u catch the right spot to jump. I did a 10ft road gap which felt pretty good, over all my progress makes me very happy.

Im gonna play some FT now and will prob post hands later.

And btw, the new "Mando Diao" LP is really good.

Poker went meh yesterday. I feel like Im only making money by coolering the shit out of everybody and being a lucky bumhunter. This is really bad, as the next "cold run" is going to be one of those extra ugly "XTR-drops-2k-in-a-week"-things if I continue to play like this. Good thing is I realize how poor Im playing although Im in the green, bad thing is I dont know what changed over the last 5k hands. Im gonna drop to 4 tables for now and focus a lot more on not-autopiloting.

Last night I went downtown watching Crank 2 in the theater. Some people like Jason Statham, some dont, but theat movie was the shit. Regardless of a retarded story line and meh sfx, the music, cut and camera were the best I had seen this year. Also, I like Amy Smart

We went to a bar after the movie, where I instantly fell in love with the girl bringing us beer. Unfortunately do I always crush on non-tanned tiny blondes who rarely have spent more than 17 yrs on this planet .Not that I had a strong preference for underaged girls or something, it just seems like that the older you get, the less skinny girls in your age are seen. I suppose Id either have to hit a one outer in finding a skinny, cool and smart girl which isn´t too young OR I get rich soon enough, so I can hit on girls who are easily impressed by a BMW or something like that. Also, I have to out more than once a month again.
