i hadn t taken the darkspewos deposit bonus into consideration.
hmm.
the fear is gone. i grinded a ton over the holidays, all of it on a cpy away from home so no HEM and no garphs. unfortunately i ran pretty terribly overall, ended up at something like +250$ over a bunch of hands at NL and PLO 100 but i feel like i crossed a hurdly regarding volume, tilt and willingness to play. hopefully this carries over into the new year and i can finally start posting some hands when i get back home to the grind.
i am very excited about the prospects for poker going forward. my mindset relative to self-management has rarely - maybe never - been this good. letting variance slide off my mind has been easy. it s also fun to run at EV in the first couple of sessions back :

i have hardly been playing and running hot and playing pretty much flawlessly when i do.
outside of money, i have just about zero motivation to play right now which is the result of some great things happening in my non-poker life.
depsite doing really well since the start of this operation, my level of debt hasn't changed much, mainly because of some unexpected expenses. the feb 1st goal of paying down my bank debt seems unrealistic, and i seriously don't give a shit (paying a couple hundred bucks of interest here and there is lame, but wtv) but what I do give a shit about is paying back a stake i was given when i was down on my luck. i might aim to pay back my stake before the bank, even though it makes no financial sense. it makes ethical sense, since free-loading on other people's money isn't a approach i feel great about
SOOO what i m getting at is that tomorrow will be a big grind day. i ll post some results and hopefully run hotter than the sun.
150 hands a day is solid volume amirite?

Yah I agree that it makes more ethical sense to pay off a stake.
Soo what are these outside of poker world events?
GL on the grind!
played a decent session, almost 1k hands, played awesome and ran terribly, something like 3 bi under ev and made about 40$
also whiffed my 1st 12 donkaments then binked the 11$ PLO final table only for 500ish so made some maniez on the day, also still alive in a 22$ NL omaha.
yay
congrats on your good results so far
lol plz work harder for achieving massive profits
good luck finishing the month strong!
hahah thx Vi, we are still due for some ghosting, 1 month later!
so my initial stake was 10.4k USD, back this summer during the death run. i ve made a commitment to pay back 6k of that on Feb 10th.
sooo a little operation-within-the-operation is gonna consist of really jacking up my volume between now and then. right now, with expenses covered into early february, my roll is sitting right around 10k online. if i don't run terribly i should have enough of a cushion so that the 6k withdrawal doesn't hurt me. i mean if i REALLY have to, i can probably survive with a 5k roll playing nl and plo100 in these soft games.
that being said, for this mini-operation i m gonna kick my nitty self in the ass and grind nl200 along with the plo100 games. they are just so soft (possibly softer than 100) that i can't really justify nitting it up at 100.
is making 8k too ambitious a goal for 23 days? it probably doesn't matter, since i control maybe 35% of the results through my play. however, i think if i m able to play good, solid sessions on 20 or 21 of those days, mixing nl200, plo100 with some donakements, i give myself a very reasonable shot at making the 400$ daily that i would need to hit it.
this operation starts tonight. i ll aim for 3 days off overall from now till the 10th. the only really tangible goal i have is playing in the neighborhood of 25k hands (the equivalent of maybe 40k hands on a normal site) which should be possible in about 3 hours of 8-tabling/day. the guaranteed money this should generate includes a 500$ bonus and about 3k in rake, so 900ish in RB. the remaining chunk of cash i need to generate to smash this goal is 6.6k.
i can control my mindset at the tables and my commitment to putting in the 60 hours or so i m aiming for. here we go.
put in about 1h40 session, ran well, played well, 6 tables of nl200 2 tables of plo 100
+1k bang.

lol awesome!
ugh a big part of this operation is sleep management. for a while i have been completely nocturnal (not just going to bed late; flat out producing at night and sleeping during the day). for these 3 weeks what makes most sense is to get up around 8 am and today was my first attempt at reconfiguring my routine.
it all went well, went to bed around 12:30-1 am last night... and fell asleep at 8 am lol. had a really busy day and don t think it would be a great idea to get my grind going on 3 hours sleep.
strike off one of my 3 days away from the table!
big day tomorrow imo.
raoouund tooo... faaiIIIGHT!
meh, pretty horrendous session. don't like my play in about 3 hands, 1 where I 4 bet shoved AKs pre, another where... hmm wait, i guess that's it. played really well, just ran terribly. sick sick whale sitting with 1400bb's at a PLO table, not much i can do besides take my lumps today and come back strong tomorrow... might even get back at it in a few minutes if i don't pass out from exhaustion.
it s really really important that i be as objective as possible in evaluating my play and not get too wrapped up in the emotions of the swings; that will just make putting in significant volume way too tough on my psychologically. even the hand where I 4-bet jammed AKs was fine, i just think it was probably a little more +ev to flat in position (villain had KK but we had been battling a bit...).
glad i played, EV was break even (despite 2 pretty big coolers) but i dropped 600.
looking over the hands, i realize i was never really in a spot to take anybody's money but the biggest pot i won occured when i bluffed this guy off an obvious KKish type hand:

Are you calling a shove?
I think this hand is reasonable to just call a flop wtih, cause I think we're not doing too hot vs his jamming range. Hands like QJ,QQ, KQ obv have us in very bad shape. JJ is meh too.
I suppose our hand is alright vs AQ, KK, AA though.
ya ofc i m calling a shove
i think raising flop causes him to make more mistakes than me, esp since i don t think he s squeezing KQ this deep oop
tonight, as i was finishing up an impromptu meal by my lonesome at a café, some pathetic-looking dude showed up, stumbling, hunched over, munching on the few remaining crumbs of a bag of tostitos.
he was dirty and looked terrible. after making a half-hearted move towards the cashier, he sat down at a table between two groups of hot girls. it probably says something about my own needs that i have a habit of looking outsiders and misfits directly in the eyes, especially when i sense that nobody else will. when he crossed my face in scanning the room, he mumbled - already sensing the inevitable shutdown, i felt - a halfhearted request for money to buy a coffee. i answered with my standard, hardened line "sorry man". he then slumped into himself in a position that left me uncertain whether he was sleeping, crying, or just taking a pit stop on his way back to the bag of tostitos.
on this particular occasion, looking at this particular guy, it was just too much for me. on my way out, i went and bought a large coffee, gently nudged him on the shoulder and handed it to him. unsurprisingly, he looked surprised, as if he didn't really know what to say.
as i walked out, i turned to get one last look at him. barely clutching the coffee with his right hand, he nodded off. on his way down into slumberland, his stubborn right paw brought the coffee down with it, spilling it all over his nutsack. he sheepishly tried sweeping away the burning black gold before passing out, all in the blink of an eye.
what s most interesting to me is just how helpless it left me feeling.
4 hours of grinding cash tomorrow
NO MATTER WHAT FUCKING HAPPENS.
hahaha well told story, but too bad your good deed didn't actually end up helping him. :(
the rewards of doing good deeds for the overall population definitely exist so don't give up hope, just sometimes people cannot do good for themselves -- either from lack of will or ability.
well the session of death just hit me hard. 1100$ under ev in 1k hands and -1.8k on the session, which doesn t even really do justice to the fact that i get zero equity for the two buyins i lost running into sets w big hands in rr pots. i played super aggro and got fucked hard every time i did anything thin.

past 2 sessions :
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/6654/deathrung.jpg
really unsure whether i should play another session at nl200 or move down.
tonight will be about watching hockey, drinking beer, dancing, possibly rolling one up... basically breathing a bit and forgetting about the terrible poker day.
the only poking i can foresee will involve a member of the opposite sex.
last night was a success in pretty much every aspect.
grinded today, was up close to 1k for a while, played great, ran bad at the end to end up +500.
at least the ship feels more steady now. back at it tomorrow.
HEM wasn t working perfectly for some reason and didn t tally 250 in profits, so +750 for the day in cash. still alive, getting deep in an NL Omaha tourney, hopefully it s bink time.
FT of the NL Omaha, 6 left, 1st is 800.
gl go go go!
meh, was chip leader w 2-1 lead, 5 left then lost 2 huge flips and busted 4th.
still +320ish, so up about 1050 on the day, good comeback overall.
ok here goes.
i have 1 single goal this week : wake up every day at 8 am. if i can do that, everything will fall into place.
how fucking hard can it be?
apparently really hard. i ve tried doing this like 10 times since i was really sick last spring and never been able to.
It's really hard for me too :( I have this dream of being able to start at 8 am every day because then I could play a sick donkament schedule, but that means being able to get out of bed between 7 and 7:30 every morning. That's a pipe dream right there...
I can't even start at 9 am every day, nevermind 8 am. Sighhhh
So why is it hard for you guys to wake up at 8am?
Is it cause you go to bed too late, or don't get enough sleep when you actually do go to bed?
you shut the alarm off when its going off? hmmm
I'm a morning person, so I'm on the opposite end. don't know how people stay up so late!
since i had mono, my body s tolerance for going without sleep is just shot. if i push myself to wake up early one day, i almost almost feel like i m getting sick if i attempt the same thing the morning after.
of course, living a lifestyle where i m pretty much never forced to wake up early combined with the fact that my appetite for pushing myself through disciplined suffering has all but disappeared over the past couple years makes it just such a long shot that i ll push myself into deep exhaustion 3 or 4 days in a row...
that being said, 7:57 am and guess who s out of bed.
well, can t complain about my productivity today, been going pretty much 15 hours straight, put in a long session (almost 4 hours) where i was running terribly and playing meh but hung in there and brought it all the way back to +400 then got KK into AA deep to finish off the session break even
felt extremely calm, comfortable and confident after the 1st shaky hour or so.
phew.
up at 8 am 2 days in a row? ONE TIME DEALER

Wow.. I mean.. that must be the worst suckout possible... like literally, I think that must be it? perfect perfect with the only two cards in the deck?
Actually no thats not true, cause he can run 5/6 turn and then 5/6 river. Running 8 8 vs 88 would be the worst possibly.
it's 7:57 a.m. bitches rise and fucking shine
2 for 2.
the big push i made last night leaves me feeling a little indulgent in the face of my usual reluctance to grind. have had a terribly productive day - pre poker - and am now gonna go do some hard core database studying in an attempt to get ahead of the curve playing various mediocre regs at nl200. whether i grind or not remains to be seen, but hopefully 4 or 5 hours of studying will pay dividens down the line. prob fire up some donkaments regardless...
5hrs of studying ya right lol!!!
ha we ve just spent 2 hours going through 3 regs!
long study session last night - was actually kind of fun. got some pretty great reads on a few regs that always seem to be playing.
after that was over, instead of passing out i played a few donkaments on stars, +260ish.
the big news though is that i m 3 for 3 so far, including an impressive 7:15 am wakeup this morning. hopefully i don't crash and can put in a sick session this afternoon. 1.5k hands mixed between NL200 and PLO100 would be good.
awesome, good job on the waking up!
may your efforts be rewarded today in the form of USD/euros!
let's see... you're est... so you got out of bed 7 hours earlier than me today.
damn
I told courtiee to buy one of these:
BioBrite Light Therapy Products
i m pretty attached to my slightly annoying cellphone alarm
played 1k hands, played kind of meh, ran kind of decent, lost about 250 but made most of it back playing qualifiers on stars.
just gotta grind more though.
My constant attempts at motivating myself probably seem absurd, futile and hysterical, but here goes another one :
lots of non-poker stuff happening today so gonna attempt to put in 8k hands between friday and sunday, which should get me right back on track for my mini-op that ends Feb 10. my strategy will be to attempt 2 2hr sessions of cash on fri, culminating in a cash + donkament bonanza starting around 7 or 8 pm. wash, rinse, repeat on saturday which should get me to about 6.5k hands.
then sunday will be a ton of donkaments (including a high-roller event i bought into with poker points).
here goes mini operation within slightly larger operation within meta operation pay-back-some-debts.
it s like inception!
if anybody is interested in a free rail between friday and sunday, send me a PM and we ll set things up. i have a terrible time getting myself motivated unless somebody else is involved.
fwiw it might be worth your time if you re working on NL or - probably even better if results mean anything - transitioning from NL to PLO.
and btw i m talking about you ghosting me for this particular offer.
good luck putting in the volume! I probably won't be around to see it as I begin my traveling odyssey saturday and haven't begun to pack
btw 4 days in a row of getting up at 7 am bitches.
huge accomplishment for me... sleeping in tomorrow and starting the operation within the operation within the operation.
nice work on the early rising, that shit ain't easy.
ya it s sick how difficult it is to give up a simple pleasure like sleeping in when you don t absolutely need to
its past 9am... you didn't feel the kick? We need to get genitruc out of limbo imo
haha done
session 1 is in the books. played pretty well i think, ran kind of terribly, lost maybe 70$ or so in 2 hours. toughest hand was this i think, villain is pretty bad just based on seeing him limp a bit pre and not show much aggression :

off to work out then back for session #2 in about 3 hours time.
pretty disgusted, finished a pretty long 2nd session, down 700, so down about 750 on the day.
there s only 1 hand that i think was questionable but i really like the way i played it in hindsight.
things are just so fragile right now that i can t afford to have 2 or 3 more of these days where i play well run meh and lose a few buyins. going back down to nl100 would be so fking soul-crushing...
all the same, gotta be happy with how much i grinded so far. gonna fire up some donkaments with a buddy and get going for a night unstucko session.
grinded some amazing PLO tables while firing up a few donkaments, continued to run gross and play really good.
results for the day... one more of these and it s back to NL100 i think:

about to get going. plan for today is to stick to 8 tables spread between nl200 and plo100 for this 1st session. if i drop 600$+ then i ll replace nl200 with nl100 later this aft.
just put in 1.2k hands, played very aggro and ran hot. was up 1k at one point but plummeted at the end of the session to book about +450$.
break time then back at it this afternoon.
i m tempted to keep playing (the games are so fking good it s scary) but i m totally fucking beat.
managed to book a small win (maybe +300ish according to HEM) despite some hands that came straight out of the twilight zone, like these two beauties :

fk me.
more grind time tomorrow, maybe even tonight if i muster up the energy.
+ another 220ish playing some late-night PLO, almost 1k on the day whee.
feel absolutely destroyed after the past few days of 8-12 hours of grinding, playing a couple donkaments for now and that's it. maybe i ll fire up some cash later on but it seems unlikely.
down to the last 10 of PKR high roller sitting in 3rd, 1st is 5.5k and field is super fishy ONE FUCKING TIME PLZ
fk busted 6th for 1k, a little tilting not to bink it when i had a bigstack with 9 ppl left, made a pretty close shove with ATo and 10bbs left... there was 20k in the middle and i had 85k so not really a decision but pretty fucking annoying.
oh well can t complain about 1k on a freeroll.
back at it tomorrow.
extremely happy about discipline, routine and prospects for february, pretty fucking disappointed at jan results (+3.9k overall after being +3.5k through 6 days) but meh, i m putting in good hours playing well and i just know things will fall into place soon.

played a quick session, +4 bi at plo 100, games look awesome and binking a 1 outer on my first all in has to be a good sign!
so since entering my op within an op within an op i m right on schedule to hit my goal of grinding 60 hrs in the alloted time.
betfair has a promo beginning today and ending feb 21 so i m gonna reformulate my objective from now till then : 100 hours of grinding between now and the promo's conclusion. i ll try to 6-table plo 1-1 5 max for the 3 weeks of the promo and possibly bump things up to 8 tables as i get to know the regs and get more comfortable with the software.
1 down, 99 to go!
good 2 hr session this morning. dropped 350ish but played well and i m amazed at the games, how easy the regs are to play and the big surprise is how incredible the rake is.
6 tabling for 2 hrs i just raked 160$... with rb deals, bonuses, profits and rake races, the sky is the fucking limit.
what a wild session. was just over 7 bi under ev at one point, made a bit of a comeback to only drop 200ish, so -550 on the day.
what can i say though, i had a great time, lots of fun interesting hands to play and i m really happy with my performance in general. raking 350$ in just under 5 hrs of play is pretty fun, especially 6-tabling a game i enjoy.
94 hrs to go.
+200 grinding late-night donkaments on stars
nom, donkaments
you sure make consistent profit playing donkaments. do you only play small fields?
Yah seriously geni, why not switch over to mega donkament grind?
or is this more of that beloved question which we don't hear about.. "but how much did he lose?". Though it doesn't seem that way.
it s a good question. i started playing poker as a sit n go/donkament player and i ve def never felt like i didn t have a big edge in any donkament.
biggest concerns are lack of rakeback, lack of fun postflop play, long periods of meh variance (i guess you could say the same about cash) and inability to plan hours of grinding.
but ya i m prob up about 7k in lowstakes donkaments over the past 2.5 months without putting in much volume or playing anything above 30$ buyin. something to think about i suppose.
and ya i play mainly small fields with terrible players courtie. PLO lowstakes tourneys are particularly soft, i think i ve final tables one of the two stars sunday PLO tourneys 4 of the past 5 weeks.
bam +8 bi in 1k hands, tyvm running hot.
lol omaha and gogog betfair! :)
92 hrs to go
so what's the fullring nlhe traffic like on betfair?
no idea. griffey and alexos prob know?
I'm about as familiar with fullring traffic as I am with sleeping with Jennifer Aniston.
89 hours to go after session 1 this morning.
ran a few buyins below ev and dropped about 350, opened up to 8 tables and tightened up a bit. i noticed my redline start going down as soon as i did that but i m not sure it s a terrible thing; generating more rake is always good and even if i m not killing the pots w out SD i m still probably making as much. more experimenting to come...
would love to see some PLO hands/strat from time to time. One time, from time to time?
k i ll post some strat tomorrow
played another awesome session stonight, EV one time plz!

87 hrs to go
pretty disgusting session, down 8bi in 1k hands, ran a few bi under ev but that doesn t even begin to describe the grotesque ass-fucking i got from the deck, the fish, pretty much everything.
84 hrs to go.
Today's graph:
http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/247/feb5thgraph.jpg
V is for VICTORY!
that's a beauty...
fuckin eh
79 hrs to go btw.
niiiice comeback!
ran flat out hot today over a short session, 1k hands +5bi.
77 hrs to go.
1st day in february i m taking away from the tables.
gonna suck up volume like a vacuum cleaner tomorrow, gunning for 7 hrs and 3.5k hands.
for now, time to lie around, read and have a great time.
Damn.. 7 hours haha. should be able to get more hands in than 3.5k in that time no? how many tables you playing these days?
plo hands take much longer but rake so much more. 6-8 tables is getting me about 500 hands per hour.
-3.5 bi, was down 8 at one point and made a nice little comeback. cpl interesting spots i might post later on.
74 hrs to go.
what a frustrating, exhausting day of poker. all in all 3.2k hands, down 6bi but really proud of my discipline and how i played and handled the swings.
right now it feels like variance is treating me about as badly as possible so i can t complain about the 6bi. i ran above ev but let s just say that that doesn t tell the story.
too tired to post hands but maybe tomorrow.
71 hrs to go.
