Thanks badgers!
Had a short but wild session last night vs. the drunks. Tables were so good. I swear I run bad on the weekend nights though but I am NOT complaining. Anyways, found myself stuck 3 buyins early on then hit a few big hands to end the day up about a half buyin. Here are a few hands:
Winners:
Preflop bet sizing was awful. It was really more to keep him in but still awful.

Anways, a few other beats/wins but you get the point. Thinking about getting rakeback for the first time in my life, gg?
Hi guys. Moved most the roll to FullTilt and left a small chunk at Stars for the Gauntlet. FullTilt seems really crazy so far at 100NL. They'll gladly ship it in with like horrible horrible draws. And they call the all-in, not just push for FE. Whatev. Been kind of swingy at 100NL but ran pretty well recently fort a profit. Played some 50NL and finished up like 5 buyins in a short session. Played in the FTR500 for the first time and ran hot but really only made one bad play. Ended up taking it down vs. Dwarfman HU we get it all-in pre and my 99 > his TT. So def. got lucky there as our stacks were almost even at the time. GG everyone who showed up. Makes my total for the past 2 days at over $900 so can't complain.
Looking at maybe getting coached. I get sweated by people enough that I probably don't need it haha (thank you everyone). Found someone at 2+2 who actually lives like 5 minutes away from me which was odd so he might help, but he doesn't play much 6max so I don't know. Thinking about giving a guy at Deucescracked a try, and we are trying to work things out for this weekend. I just want someone who knows how to beat the smallstakes/midstakes games pretty easily and hopefully I can keep progressing and get higher and higher.
Now the life update. Haven't been eating better or exercising as much as I should still. I seem to get comments that I am looking skinny/skinnier, but I think it's the opposite haha. School is killing me. Failed a class and then took a very hard exam that I thought was going to be easy. Really scared to get that test back. Then I have a hard exam Friday that I have to do well on. And another exam in a different class I did poorly on. My parents are ok with me failing that one class but the others have to be somewhat decent or else I don't really know.
What does studying all night and finally finishing this semester get you? A package awaiting you from Carl Carlson
Few hands from tonight's session. Yay or nay?

ok screw the tilt. Many thanks to Alexos, Jack, Tim, rubberband, etc. for helping me stop tilting. I haven't played since Weds., but Tues. and Weds. were good days. I played in the FTR Bodog tourney Tuesday night but lost when I got semibored (excuse?) and just shoved KQo as a shorty to an UTG tight player's raise. He had AK ld0. Was really hoping flomo won, as in I'd rather have him win then me haha. So I decided to play some more 100NL that night and ran bad (sorry I had to put that there though) but still managed 2 buyins in like 45 minutes. So that made up for the Bodog tourney I guess since I would have had to play like at least 2 hours to get the same results.
Wedsneday I woke up and decided to play some 50NL HU. I decided to play regs as well because who cares, right? Ended up like 1.5 buyins in a pretty roller coaster session. It's pretty sick how much thin value you can get. I want to post some hands but I have been at my parents' for the past few days so I don't have any HH.
I'm hoping to play tonight obv. but my car won't start.
I just got hit by an asian girl! I love asian girls (don't be creeped out, courtie)...and yeah I didn't say "hit on" but just hit as in she flew through a red light and crushed me and my car. Let's just say I have her digits now ;)
and plus 1 buyin in very minimal hands...SHIP
just played some dude HU for rollz (long story) he had only $20 but I won ld0 ship. Lost in a $11 180 man in like 35th place...it's so sick because I got bad beat (AM NOT COMPLAINING) so much and still had a shot until I misclicked :(.
news on that asian girl that hit me. I was looking at a friend's facebook profile and BAM she is in 1 of his 6 total pics...wtf? I go to it and she obv. is engaged :(
I use too many emoticons..
I don't play poker anymore but that is changing / new operation rules, etc. Going to completely end my first step that took 9 months tonight. No one knows what I am talking about. Gauntlet tonight ship. Going to play bball now but will update with new stuff afterwards.
Err. wtf did you say?
kmind stay in school bro
def. staying in school...my post may not make sense but it's all good.
i need to play hands so my new operation will be strictly about playing hands which meansssss i think i am going to pick a microstakes guy and give him like $50-100 each month or goal or day or week or whatever if i don't make the amount of hands. Actually going to adjust my play a little for like 10k hands and see if that works, if it does then gg the operation is definitely on.
ok so here goes, my first real step is over. I was staked by a very generous friend, Alexos. He is the only reason I am playing right now...so THANK YOU ALEXOS. I can finally pay him what I "owe" him but in reality I owe a lot more for giving me the ability to play. The reason I couldn't play was said in my old operation thread. Had to do with parents. Anyways, just recently my parents have supported me playing which means a lot. Well, they seem really pissed still, at least my mom.
Quick update one me. Still only rolled for 100nl, but that's cool...not to sound gay I always dreamed of being at 100nl. That said, it can be a little frustrating seeing friends who were at my level being rolled for like 600nl+. I am definitely glad for them and know they deserve it. I just don't put in the hands enough and it's horrible. I kind of a busy lifestyle (no work though for now) with my friends and stuff and I try to keep poker private from most of them for personal reasons so it can be tough AT TIMES to play. Still no excuse.
I am a member at grinderschool, deucescracked, leggopoker and def. enjoy all sites. I think I spend way too much time just watching then playing. I am also getting coached, primarily from Terp at DC/2+2. I really enjoy his game a lot and it's been very helpful lately. I got a 2 hour lesson from another guy as well but just for HU. That was pretty interesting too, but I think I may stay at 6max for the time being. Some friends are doing really well at fullring so that is tempting as well. Also those $12 180 mans are realllllly soft and I do pretty well and bust to suckouts so that is frustrating...but I run too good in Gauntlets so it evens out I guess.
Quick shoutout to everyone who has been very very helpful with talking/helping me out with the game. I can't name them all or someone will feel left out, but I wouldn't mean it, just so many to name. It's 1:30am so my grammar sucks.
I also want to make this thread either have much more content or just kind end it. Maybe I'll write like EVERYTHING on my mind in here. Don't know yet.
Alright. I am going to play 10k hands trying a new "style". By style I mean playing better poker. I will try to post EVERY DAY I play (so hopefully most days) with pics of my daily stats. I'm also going to try posting some interesting hands. So after my 10k hands, if it I feel comfortable with how I have been playing, I will start making goals that have to be met or I will ship someone free monies yay!!
Ok, a bit lazy now. Also, HUGE test on Wed. (gg summer school) so not sure how much I SHOULD play the next few days. Anyways, played 1,066 hands with a $279.00 profit. Meh, I will take it but down on Sklanksky bucks :(...damn two outters. Anyways, some guy was giving away his money so he raised every hand and shipped it in when I had KK vs. his J9o. I won, so yay. Started down $200 really quickly (was very rusty) then finally got it back together. So basically like a $500 upswing I guess. Hit a few sets for the time in ages so that was nice. Never sucked out once all-in, so that was nice as well. My non-showdown pots were helping me stay afloat in the beginning which is a big change but then I started finally getting my hands. Good day overall.
Man I blew a lot of my profit from today pushing Axs into huge 3bettors. bah just lost a huge pot AK vs 44. Will reply with better news once session is over
I don't know how I can double post 7 minutes later?
Ok sorry for the premature posting. Went up $300 really really early, like 200 hands in or so. Kept that pace for awhile then found someone with 25% 3bet stats! What a jerk! Right? Well I ended up *calling* an allin with A3s. So dumb, but I really thought this 5bet push was like Kx or worse and he sucked. He had TT. Not fun when I hit my flush on turn and he hits his FH on river...which is totally irrevalent. Then a few hands later I find myself with A7s on button, he 3bets I just ship (go tilt go!) and he calls with AK. A on flop and I don't improve. Then I get AdKd (my image is blown at this point, running in the mid 30s vpip) and I see a 60bb stack. I raise, he 3bets, some dude flats and I made it somewhat smallish to go knowing I have to ship it in on most flops anyways. Flop comes 9d4d2c. SHIP! Easy open shove and easy call for him when he flips 44 over. Damn, he called over half his stack with 44 and was probably folding most flops.
So down about $300 just at that table and overall was up like $88. I started getting huge preflop cards on that table and got ZERO action from then on...wtf? On another table I had 66 in the sb, limped in as did UTG. BB raises to 4xbb with stats of 30/1/1. SWEET LET'S HIT A SET. Flop comes...246r...SWEET. I check, he bets, UTG folds, I smooth call. Turn 7. I check he bets I RR small to basically get our stacks in. He ships the rest with 77! Dammit! Just kidding, he had KK and I hold.
So today's total after 951 hands:
$173.75
Tomorrow I have the day "off." But really I have to study for a HUGE test. Going to maybe play but I hope I have the discipline to wait until Wed. night to play. Things are going pretty well poker wise and I feel more comfortable. I have also noticed some big mistakes on a few hands today that will be fixed in the future. That's always the good part about making mistakes. Just don't do it again.
I played really really poorly today and ran super hot getting the money in bad. Still only up $23. Only played a few hundred hands due to me studying. I should be studying right now. I have come to the conclusion that I spend way too much time online. This is seriously going to have to stop. This will be part of my new goal as well. Not sure how to stop this cold turkey though. This doesn't mean that I won't play many hands though. Poker on the internet is good, other shit needs to go and go fast.
Ok ok so variance makes things even. Been having some bad luck getting KK preflop, same table, in consecutive hands and losing my stack vs. QQ on the first one (it was actually a 3way between a 100bb stack and a 30bb stack who had the AA and Q spiked a set so I lost a huge sidepot). Then next hand I am vs. a 40bb stack. 89x board I 3bet him pre and open shove flop...he flips 88 gg. Well...actually I spiked a K on river (woops, guess I am actually still running goot). Anyways, I am getting off of the computer now and will play more tonight including the gauntlet.
Maybe not play so much while studying?
Definately hear you on the "less other time online". Made a similar comment in my own blog a while back but havnt done much about it. Really, hitting the forums once per day should be enough. You can then maybe watch a video, and get a 1-2 hr session in and only have spent sort of 3-4 hrs on the computer.
Yeah def agree with everything you said. Just finished 3rd in the Gauntlet. I am in a rough spot as I switched over to FullTilt from Stars awhile ago and left just a little bit of monies for the Gauntlet knowing I'll just transfer with a nice friend when I need it. But it says I cannot transfer until 3 months of depositing. So this 3rd place was huge as it helps my BR there but if I don't cash again I may need some help :(
Ok $100 to Bjsaust if I drink more than one soft drink this month. Also gonna eat really healthy and may put some money on if I don't lose like 15 lbs. or whatever. Getting a little husky now so I want to get back down like 15 lbs. I will be completely honest. Also probably some bets about fast food eating. And by bets I mean I owe him stuff and he owes me nothing. GL Ben!
Man, put me in a tough spot why dont you. Now I dont know whether to encourage you or discourage you...
ok bet me $100 u wont eat fast food for the month. if you win, congrats you've just extend your lifetime.
haha...you're most likely on Da Goat but that doesn't mean I can't eat at restaurants ;)
i'll comfirm within a couple days
Trying to get a few more PS monies for the gauntlet...

I drank a soft drink Friday. Gl, Ben. Still having to think about the fast food thing, Da Goat.
Not much poker playing. Going to give a new coach a try sometime after the 24th. Won't say who just yet. Um, oh yeah forgot I went down 3 buyins my last attempt at playing. Lost in the Gauntlet when AK < A8s but I have no room to talk about beats in those things. Also got a new job  . Thinking I will actually be doing 2 part time jobs and summer school soon which sucks for poker playing (let alone summer), but one job I'm pretty excited for.
Everyone is in Vegas :( . I think that may be my next goal; to get to Vegas next summer. ENJOY!
Wat???
Seriously, you drank an approx $102 can of drink? I hope you kept the can...
Work is good, just means you need to schedule some time for pokers.
Soft drink was $2! The NEXT one is $102!!Quote:

Well I logged into my Deucescracked account for the first time in a couple of days and BOOM! I was the winner of a contest involving free coaching from DogIsHead. So pumped about that. It's only one time but still. Haven't played poker (well, cash game poker) in awhile because I am trying to get more confidence. Hoping Dog and my (hopefully) new coach can help with that when he's available.
Awesome news, congrats man.
sweet break, i hope the coaching goes well.
who's your coach at the moment, someone from DC?
Thanks guys!
Badgers - I had one session with Terp from DC and he really really impressed me but never seemed TOO interested in me, though was very nice and answered all my questions. I planned on having him be my coach for at least 5 sessions until I recently talked to an FTRer who plays higher games than him and who has helped me in the past when he was at 50nl (verrrry long time ago as he plays high stakes now) but he's never coached anyone so not sure if I should "out" him as I think this may kind of be a test run for himself. He costs only slightly more so I figured it'd be more +EV with him. Needless to say, he is in Vegas right now so we can't start until he returns.
Ok so I wanted to get the coaching done either today or tomorrow. I told him either day was good and he said it'd most likely be Tues. I'm thinking about making a video and have him make comments or go over some HHs. Well, he IMs me randomly and asks if I want to actually be part of a series involving another coach as well. We'd be going over HHs throughout the vid. I accept and we finished the video about 2 hours ago and it will be up at DeucesCracked.com tomorrow in the evening. It will be for the series "Late Night Coaching with Joe Tall" so whoever has a membership please watch. I sound really stupid in it though.
That's pretty awesome.
Are you this googs fella?
'tis me indeed
ship the vid... joe tall should shutup imo and let the other guy do the talking
btw i didnt know u play like such a donk (jk)
haha didn't know you were a member, wtf?? Haven't actually seen all of it since it was recorded but a lot of people seem to be LOVING DogIsHead now. Good for him. Joe was a really nice guy (got to chat with him some that wasn't on the vid) but I'm not really sure how great of a NL coach he is. And trust me, these are hugely donk hands, so take out the (jk).
Ooooooh is that video up? Maybe I"ll go home now, and leave work early and watch it!
haha joe tall got owned by dog is head so many times in that vid. I particularly liked the 44 hand where joe kept going "so obviously we're going o c/f here....OH!".
some great analysis in that vid.
hahaha yeah, since his original coach/student got cancelled we had to do it within like 30 minutes of telling me. So I had to find 10 hands super fast so Joe Tall didn't have a chance to review them before hand. I was laughing pretty hard to myself in a lot of the hands when he was like "yeah so I guess std c/f or std c/r...OH WAIT he leads here instead" etc etc.
Oh man.. about to start it now.. this will be good :)Quote:

Which hand was it?
The AJ one where I hit trips on the flop. It was a few weeks ago when we talked about it but basically I was disagreeing with you (I think I finally caved in and said you were def. right) but still thought my original line was bad. It's the hand that shows up right before you hit the play button if it rings a bell.
I think I am playing a lot better but still tilting a lot after getting a lot of coolers. I tend to keep betting with semi-monsters knowing that they aren't good anymore just because I'm "due". I'm going to move down to $50nl 6max and some HU to get my confidence back. I also have to withdraw some money for rent so that doesn't help.
I also keep calling large bets just so I know for sure my read is correct, so that doesn't help haha.
Don't do that yo.Quote:

people at 50nl are tilting me so i raised 7 hands in a row won them all folded my 8th which would have given me a 300bb pot with a straight flush.KK is also sucking for me gg
on a breakeven stretch including 309434 coolers and a couple of bad beats but also includes me getting AA a lot.
This guy sucks gg ISF theorem

lost a bunch of combo draws. No other action on AA and KK when I have rarely gotten them. Meh poker is not fun at times. Been over a month now running worse than ever before. Even last gauntlet TT was my best hand which I even had to turn into a bluff. Not going to lie I made some mistakes today poker wise but I completely understand where I went wrong and have learned. It's just the hands that you actually do play well are the ones that get you. I know I'm not alone and I'm a whiney little bitch.

awesome
haha thanks. Wanted to give you a shoutout for making me play 100nl. Much appreciated man.

Nice man. Hey, in HM when you look at your graph and tick the Display All-In EV button, how are you running compared to that line?
After that hand or overall, past month, etc?Quote:

I'll try to get it up soon. I have a lot of hands not on my computer unfortunately so I hope it doesn't make me look stupid haha.
Ben - I don't have the graph on this computer. I ran bad again last night but was only shortstacking to build my Stars roll so really didn't matter, just kind of showed that it didn't matter how I played. Anyways, I looked at my graph before I left and it said I was down over $300 in sklansky bucks or whatever it's called in HEM which is 6 buyins. And I only played very little hands in that database. Add that with what I have on this computer (which does not have HEM), I'd say I'm running maybe 9-10 buyins below expectation in allin pots or whatever. I'm reallllly not complaining though, I accept it.
Just thinking about some stuff makes me thank FTR so fucking much. I wish I could somehow repay everything they've done for me. I won't go into details and it's really nothing specific but THANK YOU. And by FTR not only do I mean X-man and the radmins but everyone who has been very kind to me.
That said I want to get to Vegas next year. I may start a new goal or at least make a mini-one in this thread. Can't let this die, right?
I'm leaning towards one giant operation thread that never dies for me, but starting a new per operation isnt a bad idea either. Make sure if you do that you put a link at the top of the new op to the old one to maintain a history.
Yeah, def. keeping this one actually. I'm weird like that. I wouldn't want to see this die haha. I laugh but I'm completely serious. Hopefully this thread will someday reach at least 20 pages. If that happens, I'll know I made it.
If it reaches 20 pages and you're discussing how you're running at 5000NL you'll know you made it ;).
Quick tip for you. Just because an Opp takes what looks like a retarded approach to getting value from a big hand, doesnt mean you should stack off with 3rd pair.
Little nugget of advice learnt the hard way.
Thanks man, I will keep a note of that! (here's me adding random posts to get my pages closer and closer to 20)
if u reply to this post you'll be another step closer....

Can we seriously ban fishmemyleg? X-man can you read this? All he does is spam the whole forum and has never done anything helpful! He's also very mean and would never do anything at all for me, even in real life. He has ruined not only my thread but my whole FTR experience. He also sucks at HU SnG, especially blind man's bluff or whatever it's called. He also has the same initials as me and questioned my AIM icon which is just so classless. I also found out he has two legs making his FTR name very offensive. I also love him deeply because everything I said is a lie for the most part, except him ruining my thread. Ok that was a lie.

i'm making a new note to only post winning hands for the next month unless i'm asking for advice
finally back from vacation but won't be back at my apartment for a little bit meaning no real play time. When this happen I just try to grind my PS roll as seen in the hand above.
this shit is insane
Alright guys just a quick update. Haven't played too much BUT am studying my ass off like always with poker. I really think I need to make it more of a playing to studying ratio. Anyways, I have to applaud certain forum members who I will not speak upon for helping me table select better. That said I am getting coaching with one of them soon. So that's like technically 5 coaches already (5 different people have coached me now for monies). SWEET.
Yeah, studying is awesome, but at some point you've got to put in tons and tons of hands.Quote:
