I thought training day was great and Denzel was awesome
I also quite liked Existenz, sure it was weird but you never knew whether they were in reality or not. It was quite thought provoking, as in what will happen when our technology is so advanced that we can totally simulate reality?
How will we know what is reality even when we take off the VR helmet or whatever it'll be.

I agree. Training day was a great movie. I feel that was 1 year that the Oscar actually went to the person who deserved it most.
I definitely think he deserved an Oscar, but I don't know about for that year. He should've certainly won for Malcolm X, he was amazing in that. After looking up the nominees (found this crappy summary here - http://www.women.com/entertain/award...416258,00.html) , I'd probably have given it to Tom Wilkinson for In The Bedroom in 2002. That movie was like an acting clinic.
Out of the nominees for the women, I'd have considered giving it to Kidman for Moulin Rouge and Sissy Spacek for In the Bedroom over Holly Berry, but she was very good in Monsters Ball, and it'd be really close. Niomi Watts should've been nominated and won that though, and Mulholland Drive should've taken home Best Picture and certainly Best Director. :)
A lot of movies we've talked about from that year.
You would rather give the oscar to Denzel than Russel Crowe?
NO WAY!!!
Ah yeah, Crowe was deserving as well. He carried that movie.
Ooh Ooh i just thought of another one, BLADE 2, that film sucked so hard.
As a physicist i take great exception to light being released from a "light bomb" or something and then said light to proceed at about 50mph down a sewer and ROUND THE CORNER of the sewer, AAAAAAAGH
Sorry, it was a traumatic time for me, someday i'll get over it.
Hahahahahahhah!!! I guess the writer wasn't paying attention in his high school Physics class.Quote:

#1 being "Cheerleader Ninjas" Worst acting evar, but great gratuitus T/A. Recommended if you can find it and really want something bad and cheesy to watch that is "Wife" approved since it is not p0rn!
#2 would have to be Orgasmo, but for some reason it grows on ya.
Dude Where's My Car was pretty bad. It may not be the worst I've seen in my life but it is the worst that I've seen within the last few years.
SpecOps you and me must have similar taste in movies.
Orgazmo is simply hilarious if you are interested in a Bad movie. I mean, it has Ron Jeremy in it!!! And you will never forget the meaning of DADV. Funny, but bad.
As is Cheerleader Ninjas. I remember renting this expecting a bad movie and thats what I got, but it still requires some props due to all the hilarious star wars/trek references about nerds.
Has to be Moulin Rouge, lasted all of 5 minutes and switched the bloody thing off. And that was before Nicole started singing! Total shite :(
1. ExistenZ was cool as heall, especially if you have a JJ Leigh fetish.
2. Glitter is coming on in 10 minutes...
How is it Glitter has not been mentioned? No one's seen it? I've got a full bottle of Riesling and I'm about to.
Bump.Quote:

I'm with 1123 and 7Ape on this. Fine if you don't go for artsy or weird flicks, but when you're trying to think of the Absolute Razziest POS ever made I always lean toward the boring, half-assed formula-driven cookie cutter movies, especially the oscar baits:Quote:

Worst movie ever - In The Cut - Meg Ryan
A newbie to the list.
Napoleon Dynamite.
Take the worst movie you can think of and strip it of its plot, worthwhile dialogue, interesting characters and generally any shard of entertainment value and you have what is essentially Napoleon Dynamite.
-'rilla
I guess no one has ever seen "Jeepers creepers" or "cabin Fever"
I was tricked into seeing jeepers creepers bc my friend said it was good, that friend is no longer my friend and made the mistake of renting cabin fever
1. Jeepers Creepers
2. cabin fever(would be the worst but you get to see a nice rack)
nearly every KEVIN COSTNER movie Ive seen SUCKS
Very bad:
Postman
Waterworld
Love fo the Game
Field of Dreams
Dragonfly
message in a bottle
Tin Cup
decent or semi-decent:
Dances with Wolves
Wyatt Earp
I just saw darkness, and it sucked.
by far the worst movie i have ever seen was 'house of the dead.' it is at least twice as bad as any movie already listed.
How can you not like Field of Dreams? Must not be a baseball fan....Quote:

Postman was good until it ended.
When I saw the previews for Postman I thought it would be good as it seemed to have a decent plot/storyline type of thing, but when I watched it it seemed like 3 hours of boring movie to me.Quote:

But the director screwed up the movie big time.
I don't know, there was that cool bit near the end where they look up and see the jet and you suddenly realise its just england getting nailed and the rest of the world have basically quarantined it and left everyone to die, i remember that being quite a powerful effect. i suppose the very end isn't great but i don't think that puts it in this thread's awefulness.
I second that. Luckily I snuck into blade trinity after it and that wasnt bad.Quote:
darkness, and it sucked.
but is it worth paying for?
Not really gabe, its much better than blade 2, but doesnt have the same eerie mood or style of the first blade.
You'll either love Reynolds character or hate him. I thought the whole nightstalkers thing was overplayed. And the fight scene at the end left a little to be desired. The one thing blade 2 did right was the fight scene where he comes outta the pool and shitkicks all the guards.
On the subject of action movies: Has anyone seen previews for "Sin City" and wants to speculate on it. I think the concept is really cool: directing a movie to look like a comic book is awesome.
my first thought was it was a failed attempt at being artsy. but with something so different as this, it really is impossible to tell.
spice world
that movie were tom hanks is a professional killer and then his son spots him killing someone or some bs like that
-anto
that tom hanks movie was road to perdition - definitely wasnt the greatest movie he's been inQuote:

I can't name one REALLY bad Tom Hanks movie.

This is getting bumped. Too many people were getting bad movie confused with worst... movie... ever.
The Hulk is easily the worst movie I've ever seen. His dad turns into electric hulk, water hulk, it's just obscene.
Sweet Home Alabama is bad (number two on my list). Really bad, but far from worst ever.
1. Dune
2. Alexander
3. The Naked Lunch
I have a hard time believing anybody could claim to like any of those 3 movies.
alexander was definitely not the worst movie ever. it wasnt good but theres a serious difference btween "worst movie ever" and "bad movie".

Starship troopers 2.Nuff said.
GG you win, I saw this when it came to video because I was young and naive and thought aliens and action were the only things a movie needed. Worst movie I have seen, and I used to watch the Sci-Fi channel while at work on Saturday from 9-4.Quote:

And whoever said fear and loathing was bad needs to stop.. err.. start smoking crack :-D... that movie is one of the funniest things to hit theatres in a LONG time. I guess it helps to know who hunter thompson is. I didnt read the book, but a friend of mine is a fan of his writings, so I have some background.
Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson is a must read. It has one of the most memorable opening lines in modern literature:Quote:

i'm gonna rent that movie tonight
I forgot to mention Dogville...
The new movie based on the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the first movie I've ever walked out on in the theater.
I got all you guys beat here.
"Fortress" starring Christopher Lambert (aka Highlander) is the worst ever movie.
Which part of "read" didn't you understand? The movie was okay, but the book is absolutely awesome.Quote:

To get back on topic: worst movie ive ever seen is very hard to say.
I like Troma movies and other really "worthless" movies because theyre still entertaining. But Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D really sucked.
Valentine is another total crap movie.
My brother bought a movie for my sister as a christmas gift, for $2. Some swedish movie about a female asassin, it's probably the worst movie I've ever seen.
oooh renton reminded me..
Highlander: Endgame
I think I shed a couple of tears because it was so bad.
Open Water
The Village
The Blair Witch Project
These looked so good in the trailers, but were horribly disappointing.
my g/f made me watch some World Cinema shit one day. It was a Czech film called Little Otik. It is quite possibly the worst thing ever. And I'm not just talking films.
Basically, this couple are looking to adopt a child and they wind up adopting a piece of tree. The tree comes to life and they look after it. Only then, the "kid" starts to eat everything, including a cat and the mailman. The only thing it doesn't eat are cabbages.
Google it.
or look here ....
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0228687/
you guys should see "I Spit on Your Grave"
its a rape/revenge movie from the 70s. I think its a pretty interesting flick, but Ebert vows that its the worst movie he's ever seen.
Love, Actually and You've Got Mail. I loathe chick flicks.
Dude Where's My Car was pretty bad.

how can someone list 5 movies as the worst movie theyre ever seen? that i dont get. there are a lot of movies being listed here that are supposed to be 'bad', such as dude where's my car. as for the worst movie i've seen, all i can think of right now is solaris, with george clooney. it was long and completely uninteresting, unentertaining drivel. it probably wasnt the worst movie ive ever seen, but it will do for now.

I've actually never seen it, but then I can't see why I ever would.
