I finally watched episode 3! Watching the QQ vs TT AIPF was actually pretty entertaining.
Some behind the scenes stuff: it actually took me forever to decide whether or not I wanted to run it 3 times. Rick wouldn't do it twice, so it was three times or once. Daniel and Phil were sitting there arguing with each other about what I should do. In the end I decided to run it 3 times because at least I have ~80k if I win a run, which is more than enough for the remaining 70 or so hands. If I get down to 40k (which I did), it's a really bad spot because even a double up doesn't get me to a profit.
Also, it took FOREVER to run it 3 times. Each time we had a run, we had to wait multiple minutes for the producers to give the dealer the okay to go again. It was torture!
Do they make all the cannons verbalize their actions?
god damn i hope you just tear the shit up the next 2 episodes.
the talk about the editing for TV is interesting, it certainly seemed like "the run it 3 times" decision was instantaneous. kind of out of line for Laak and DN to talk about it, too.
Did you have to tank with QQ or was it pretty much a snap 5-bet?
It was def out of line for them to talk about it, although they quickly realized this and asked Rick if they could "advise" me. Rick said it was fine, so they continued :P
I was surprised that they made my choice look instant, but I guess it makes sense.
I didn't think about the QQ too much since Rick's stack size made it an easy decision.
On a table with stationy DN, gambling degens Salomon and Nano, and Laak in super-LAG mode, I like your chances of doubling up next episode.
read your post on 2p2. Yeah they pretty much removed EVERYTHING interesting that I said at the table. The table talk before the QQ hand was actually awesome, but pretty much none of it came through. They were supposed to show me telling Daniel that I wanted to marry Bono :(
Talt
Man my stomach got tied up when the ten flopped. I hope you crush that dude
omfg brutal seeing that 10, really hope you crushed the rest of the hands.
laak was loving how you were playing eh. seems like your playing perfect just shitty luck and pretty card dead.
I had a bad feeling, the LC usually loses the Couch Cannon hands.
Stapes also messed up because right after that hand and the AJcc hand, he said Courtney had folded every time someone reraised her.
salomon's stupid laugh tilts me.
those commentators tilt me. i used to think gabe and AJ were pretty lame as poker commentators. wrong.
The laugh combined with the tongue out is creepy and awesome.
Nice left hand chip tricking by the cannon.
Are you ever gonna say "aboot" though :(
WHAT? Joe Stapleton is the best commentator since Gabe.
QQ vs TT was sick, felt really bad for you
Seems an east decision to run it 3 times, and triple your chance to have a decent stack
Hope episode 4 went better
Obviously a pro laugh.
But thing that fascinated me most during those 3 episodes: Randy's face when he got owned with Daniels set. There was no any. He was like: "Omg I dropped 1 cent. Should I pick it up? Naaaah, too lazy."
I mean, most of the pro's that were playing on big game, went on a monkey tilt whenever they got owned big, but this guy was totally "Whatever, i gots moar moniezzz! "
Actually I guess that still makes him the greatest since Gabe because all the others are still a far cry from him.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, bustoooooooooooooooo
:(

Thanks for watching guys!
The last hand was pretty heavily edited again. Rick took longer than shown to call the flop, and he also took longer than shown to call the turn. It was a total tease and I didn't expect him to be as strong as JJ when he finally called.
I'm pretty disappointed overall with the commentators. For example, in the last hand I played Stapleton said, "This would be a bad call with KJ because they know how tight she has been." Whether it was a good or bad call, it sure is convenient for him to leave out the fact that all the players know that I should be loosening up now.
And repeatedly saying how nitty I was... pretty sure I didn't get a single Ax on the button (unless I was being 3bet), I remember one Ax suited, and I think my only suited connector was 23dd. It also didn't help that there were straddles for half the hands.
When I got a premium hand, I was dominated a sick amount of the time. They didn't show another one where I raised with AJ and Daniel had AK. wtf...

Thanks for the support everyone gave me. Aside from the coaching I received, I also had help from other FTR members when it came to talking about hands and also playing in my Home Game. I appreciate all of it so much!
Overall my experience on The Big Game was great. I had tons of fun playing at that table and it was interesting to see how something like that is producecd. It was also really cool being a VIP for the day :)
If any of you are interested in watching Jared Huggins, his shows will air next week.
ugh, felt gut-punched after staying up all night hoping to see history with Hellmuth shipping the $50K HORSE and then losing with a 5-1 lead. And I don't like Hellmuth. then this.
I died a little inside when you folded J5s otb with a tight image and a weak player in the straddle. KJo looked like a fold to 3bet pre, but I suppose in your situation I don't hate it as much as folding J5s.
oh yeah I remember watching and thinking I should have raised that. there was a K4s that I could have raised too
2p2 thread makes me want to punch babies
Wow Cbee.. I think I would have locked up tighter than Fort Knoxx at that table and then spewed like a donktard with KJ late in the second ep.
I will be watching with much anticipation. I truly hope that you start getting some reads and get into some good spots in future episodes.
Also, how hard was it for you to not minraise on the button and yell "smallball" at Daniel Negranu with the voice from "dumb and dumber" where Jim Carey demonstrates the most annoying voice in the world?
I like Stapes because he knows poker and he comes up with some funny lines. The problem is he's one of those guys who uses stats as a drunk uses a lamp post: for support, not illumination (stolen from baseball analyst Bill James).
Talking about people's VPIP's and 3-bet stats over 20 hands or something is beyond absurd.
"Thanks guys for the game. I really enjoyed it. Need to head back to FTR get some hand histories reviewed. OOps. Sorry I didn't mean to mention FTR. Oh well, you could take all my winnings from me except..." :D
Woulda been edited out but it woulda been funny except for maybe burning a bridge.
Did you get to hang around afterwards or were you sent home?
better question: does punching babies make dthorne want to punch babies?
=( gg bee. i'm sure you know you didn't play perfect but tbh who the hell does. and no where near to the degree in which the haters on 2p2 are giving you credit for, despite how luls that thread is. and i'm equally sure you had a blast while doing it.
gonna borrow a quote from one of my favorite rap songs
"if they hate then let em hate and watch the money pile up"
I think I would quit poker if I lost an 80-20 to a cokehead donk for life-changing money. Well, at least you're famous now.

There's no way in hell I am going to read the 2p2 thread. Cliffs?
LOL
1) Courtney Gee is the biggest nit in the world
2) She is terrible at poker
3) She should NOT go pro
4) She should learn to play poker first with play money, then at microstakes
5) She is a marginal losing player (judging from her blog)
6) At least she's cute
I actually had a conversation about you in my live $1-$3 game that I think fairly represents the people from the 2+2 thread:
Donk: "That girl was terrible."
Me: "She really had no hands, and every time she had a good hand, she was crushed."
Donk: "Yeah, I guess."
Donk then proceeds to do stuff like raise TT in the BB with $100, and c/f on an 8-high flop to a guy who had 99.
Given the hands that were dealt it would have been extremely difficult, if not impossible, for ANYONE to win money in your spot, I think. Very common in live poker, to have hours of worthless hands and have your whole session depend on one big hand holding up.
Were the seat placings random?
Really great stuff Courtie. Enjoyed watching all of it - even the big beat, horrible though it was. Congrats on making it and holding your own.
Regardless of any negative comments, Laak and DN thought you were good - they're pro's and they played every hand. Ignore the other bullshit.
Congrats Courtie on playing in The Big Game. Must have been exciting as hell.
I've only watched the first episode of yours so far and am excited to see the others.
My two cents thus far with LC's in general:
With a 150 hand sample size freeroll on your winnings with a $100k starting stack, I would have a pfr of 33% and would only fold hands that had a five or lower in it and that card didn't create a paired hand nor a suited one.
QFT... actually thought the LC from week 1 was a huge donkey and the typical player you encounter at a 1/2 casino table. The pros gave him waaaay too much credit on some of those hands. But then again you can't bluff what won't fold. Courtie could've loosened up a bit, obviously, but she also made some great folds. We've all went through stretches of 150 hands where we played next to nothing. It's just that if that's the limit of hands, and we're freeballin then it's gotta be gambool time. LOL hindsight
