sorry, i should have mentioned i have a droid, not an X. Things are probably different, but it sounds like you have it figured out. I have my droid overclocked to 1.2 ghz and its night and day difference over the stock kernal.
The X is at 1ghz stock so maybe it's a slight difference that I don't notice. However, 1.45 is noticeable. Although, it has crashed a couple of times. Probably too high.
FullTiltPoker has a Rush poker app, you can play for real monies from your phone.
i have had the droid and the iphone personally i like the iphone better and by the way you guys are hilarious lol

Any good Android forums I can hang out ?
Full tilt still playable ?

iPhone!
Plenty of apps mentioned itt
I rooted the other day. Huge hassle for the original droid. Rommanger is a bucket of fail, so flashing the ROM that way is out. At least it's overclocked now.
Side note, I get to upgrade to a new phone in 1 month, woot!
30 essential apps
Gizmodo, the Gadget Guide
I like springpad more than evernote, but it's going to come down to personal preference.
Angry birds is missing
There is a new game called pewpew that's pretty fun
This is where I was having issues. Apparently RomManager does not play well with the original droid.
I recently tried the FullTilt app again, and it was only Play money this time.
I didnt bother sending them an email and asking why because there customer service sucks so bad, I really dont care to play there anymore.
couple new apps I have downloaded:
Camscanner...turn pictures into PDF files. works good
ColorNote....kinda like iPhone notes but better because its on a Droid.
facebook for droid app is actually really good now, I just wish I could close conversations I had with the chat feature.
PeaPod..shop for groceries from your phone(USA)...this is so fucking easy!
NFL mobile, a must have for Football Fans.
Gmote

I just switched to android from an iphone 3g and it works so much better for me.
Evernote is amazing - especially as a widged (omg widgets!)
Yaaic - good irc client. did not use much tho.
Skype - ldo. There's a video chat version in beta out now
places, voice search, google maps - people take for granted but they are so amazing.
I saw that they have the impossible game on the app store. That is pretty much the only game I liked on the iphone. I just guess it's good on the android as well.
also: 20 minute meals. Ino is gay but I've actually used it a lot like when I'm at a store and I have no idea what to cook. All really straight foreward and fast. Instructions are very simple, features are useful.
TED air
What I still need is an easy way to keep up to date with my podcasts - have the player remember where I stopped last, what I've already listened to, etc.
Oscar, how do you get the podcasts onto the DROID?
I only tried the standard one and one called 'beyond pod'. I have the htc desire s. There is one app labelled 'music' that should do the whole thing, but it crashes on me when I go to the podcasts. I didn't like the cover flow thing on the iphone very much and I still don't.
I just found double twist. Looks like it does what I want pretty much.
Guitar solo lite
Use the android as a guitar. Changeable chords too.
Haven't tried stitcher. From podcast adverts it sounds like streaming (they boast no downloads) so I don't know how it would work with no connection. I like downloading.
"Listen" is the google app. Sometimes I have a problem subscribing to new podcasts, but you can copy the RSS feed and subscribe through google reader, then drag the channel into the Listen subcategory.
It will search for new posts, remember where you stopped a podcast, and you can build a queue if you get backlogged.
Cool thx guys.
Have any of you previously had an iphone? I dunno what the hell to do with it. I was hoping some friends or family wanted it, but no such luck :D
What kind of car kit do you guys use? Isn't there something that even remotely compares to the tomtom car kit for the iphone?
Google maps . It's so advanced . And updates appear weekly. tomtoms will soon be excess to requirements.
google maps on my Blackeberry as well
yah ofcofc. I meant what kind of holder do you use? for the desire s it looks like I can have one for $60 that's just a mount with a usb plug, or a one of a gazillion one-size-fits all.
Given that the tomtom car kit has bluetooth handsfree and whatnot and costs roughly the same, I feel ripped off. :(
My lap or a cup holder. Both free
Nano Panda free . nice game with cute music.. Help through these times of uncertainty .
Typing this in the keypad
*#*#4636#*#*
Gives access to technical / battery / application / testing etc .
rd3 - I had beat maker on the iphone, and even tho I really don't have anything bad to say about it, I didn't use it much. I use rd3 almost every day. I just open it up, tap in some idea, save it and it's done.
Circle Launcher - great concept, works as expected.
Hey guys.
I just wanted to make live players who use Android phones aware of an app called 'Poker Session Logger.' It's a really easy way to keep track of one's win/loss record without using a notebook or anything like that. Check it out.
teamviewer - works amazingly well. If you create an account and add your computer you can always connect just using your username/password.
Uloops - great concept. I'll prolly buy the full version soon
fpse
I'm not big on mobile gaming, but I needed to get it just to see if it works, and it does! On my desire s it can run Oddworld, Resident evil II, III without problems. (no lag, surprisingly playable). Silent Hill has audio problems, but it's pretty damn amazing that anything works at all. Let alone that well.
I really hope google grows a brain and adds a couple of online payment services + gift cards to the market. The target audience is between 14 and 30 and a big chunk of those don't have credit cards, especially in the EU where bank cards do the same thing, minus the insurmountable debt. It took me weeks to find a way to buy apps. (MyWirecard.com btw. Still a pain in the ass, but the only thing that works besides actual credit or debit cards afaik)
Reactable
Best thing ever.
Passport photo app is pretty useful. Trying to get a 1 yr old to sit still on a photo booth is impossible, photos look like something a kidnapper would send with a demand for cash.
There is a 2+2 App now. Slick too.
2+2 app is really nice. Now we need an FTR app!

1st app SMS Spy, text your lost phone and it texts back its co-ordinates.
2nd one GPS tracks your phone.
Both simply brilliant.
oh, go here http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/q...Attachment.jpg
for HOWto for the tracker.
Does anyone know a good cheapo spreadsheet program? I thought the google docs thing should do it, but it's awkward to use. Maybe I'll get used to it but idk.
Formula wise I only need basic algebra, and it should be easy to use cos I'm going to fire it up ten times a day to enter stuff.
Songbird has an android app now. Still haven't found a player that works well for both music and podcasts. Beyondpod is pretty sweet for podcasts tho.
The BBC news app is amazingly well done.
nanoloop is a lot of fun to play around with if you're into that sort of thing.
Jasuto is less fun to play around with, but it's a jawdropping piece of software. It's one of the apps that makes me want to have a tablet.
I'm not much of a gamer, but lately I got a lot of short breaks where I can't really do much.
Impossible game is the only game I played on my iphone in the two years I've had it, and I got it again for android.
Robot Unicorn Attack has a great android port.
They Need To Be Fed is lots of fun.
I know I'm late on the train, but: Flight Control really is awesome.
i have quick office installed on my phone but i've never really used it. You might want to check that out. It comes pre-installed with a bunch of custom roms these days.
I had that pre-installed. I thought it was some kind of view-only version cos when it opened right into a file browser and then I forgot about it. I just checked again: it can create excel and word documents! So that will work tyvm!
Aliens Invasion is stupidly addictive
Gem miner. Its simply a great game.
I think bwin has a real money poker app.
And I know another poker tool app but I'll get banned if I tell you. But I don't know why I've the feeling I'm getting banned anyways xD :lock:
The speaking clock
Does what it says, handy, tho.
Can anyone recommend BEST apps for Live poker... particularly Player notes and BR Managament? FOR AN ANDROID Galaxcy S2. I noticed I-Phone have a great player notes app available that includes a photo funtion, is there one available for droid???
I have the bwin app. No notes, and you have to pay the blinds when you citroen, straight away.
mmm... player notes... gimme a nice idea... but it may take looong to dev
Yea, development is painful.
SwiftKey is definitely the fastest keyboard in the Android market. They have a free month trial, it's definitely worth checking out.
Any good new suggestions? Games?
LD: dungeon is fun. As is defender 2.
