Was playing last night, not running well, and I got a huge whale to play me HU for his last $75 dollars online. Naturally I shipped it all for a nice profit on the night. Today, I got coolered w/middle set on a decent flop, but also took a 140bb 3b pot when a giant fish openshoved an 8 high flop w/TP and I snapped wTT and held. So perhaps I am running a little better. I've moved up to 50nl for good and trying to put in 2K hands a day at the minimum 8tabling. I should be able to hit 3ptbbs/100 minimum easily with good, focused playing with only 8 tables for 4 hours a day.

Fuck just saw an error in my thought process. Doesn't matter how I'm running, I'M PLAYING WELL atm.

My BR crossed $6,000 today. YES I AM A BRM NIT 50NL FTW! I'm not sure when I'll start taking shots at 100nl. I'm probably like a 2ptbb winner at 50nl right now (in terms of skill and focus) and a BE 100nl player, so I'd like to become a 4ptbb 50nl winner and a 2ptbb 100nl winner by the end of the summer. That'll require some significant volume, more study, more poker-related discussion and just more poker in general. I play about 3 hrs a day on avg., 8 tables, but not enough time studying imo. I'll probably take shots in around 20K hands, which is about 2 weeks from now.

IRL news, I'm moving to Texas in about a monf.

I was nearly robbed last night. I awoke at 4:00am (just 15 minutes after going to bed) to the sound of the police chasing after and gunning down a man. My neighbor awakes this morning to find a set of MASTER KEYS, a knife, and other misc. sitting on her balcony. WHAT THE FUCK PPL?!!?!

3 hands, two vs. the exact same reg, AA<KK, 22<QQ on T52-T-Q board, and 44<QQ on 4JJ-Q-A board, in the space of 45 secs. I actually didn't go on tilt. Just closed 'em up! I also just finished the weirdest session of my poker career. I flopped a dozen sets in 1200 hands. Won like 2 stacks, a bunch of small pots, and lost two where I had TT on a T high board with 2 spades and it came spade/spade. So weird...1400 hands thus far today, and I will try to get it up to 2.5K tonight.

Nothing like getting your ass handed to you to set you in the right direction.

A decent month of semi-pro poker imo. Too bad I pretty much sucked in all ways online, which should be my fucking main source of incomes :(. Slowly making my way back!

Took shot at 100nl, +5BI. Am currently tired as fuck but may study coldcalling a little. I played meh today but the tables were just so fucking good. Lost a 3 buyins today w/TPTK in 3bet pots vs. middle set, but such is life. I believe 3 bet pots to still be my greatest weakness so I need to address those tomorrow as well.

2. I'll be getting coached by Alvin Lau a.k.a. CitizenWind, the CR pro and supreme crusher of SSNL. ^.^

Maaaaaaaaaaaaajor leak id'd and hopefully fixed. I've stacked off w/AK or QQ at least 5 times AI pre vs. non-aggro donks and that's just killed my wr. Like, it's easily cut my wr in half if not more. It's rly sad, but of my 16 biggest losing pots, 6 of them are coolers, and the rest are me either getting it AI w/AK/QQ vs. a fairly tight player or spewing off my stack postflop. The common theme is they are all 3bet pots. Luckily it's an easy leak to fix if I'm focused and concentrate and realize I'm not playing 6m/donkament, but rather nitring.

Yeah, unless you have some history with this player, you are better off folding to 4bets unfortunately. Unless it is like BvB or BUvB and you should still have some sort of read about how light they will 4bet/stack off.

Moving to a new state (TX) for graduate school today through Sunday. Can't really play/update. Will be back on the grind hardcore on Monday for sure though bc I made $100 in RB last week without even playing that many hands and that's just fucking awesome (Also made some at the tables too lol).

Got all moved in and played a quick 710 hand sesh today. Got completely crushed by the deck, losing every all-in pot I played w/50%eq or better. Such is like.

I am down 7 buyins in AIEV since I started getting coached. I actually feel like I'm playing really well almost all the time, but lol if the deck just doesn't agree with my skin color.

More of the same. Have discovered significant postflop leak where I tend to overvalue AQ/Qhi Flop type hands vs donkeys but meh. Up like $200 in RB.

RB FTW

So I have what I like to call "compounding spew", which is simply that I make small, simple mistakes preflop that snowball into larger ones postflop. To solve this, I'm becoming just a little nittier (14/11 down from 16/12 or so) and actually playing more tables. Now, playing more tables is not the way to get better, but I is working wonders for me in forcing me to play nittier and therefore more ABC. I'm 16tabling at the moment and playing with such clarity that I'm excited to play. I mean, ldo, nits have strong ranges like in every spot and shit so hurrah. Mass tabling as a cure for FPS FTW!!!

Got in 3.7K hands today, which I believe is a personal best. I'm shooting for 80-100K hands in August, which should probably work assuming I don't dick around. I also kinda need to get the volume in since I do play to live now...lol.

Big spike is from 100nl when I won/lost 5buyins in like 2 sessions. When it starts to fall =runbad and towards the end = my rediscovery of the b/f. I believe the final tally for the month was only 2BI under expectation, so that's fine (though like 40% of my lame ass wr :( ). Not sure how much I made in rb tbh.

So July wasn't as horrible as I thought. I made $355 in RB and $225 at the tables (I made 2 buyins at 25nl Rush last night woot) in 29K hands, which is still bad but at least I crossed the $500 net mark. Today's plans involve about 4K hands (1.2 down already, played terrible and got lucky to end down 22bb) then I'm driving home for my sister's birthday dinner. Shouldn't get more than 1K hands in on Monday or Tuesday, maybe 2K if I'm lucky, so I'll have to grind like a fiend the rest of the week to hit my goals, outlined below. I just didn't b/f life 4 hands in a row and the donks hit 2p vs my TPTK and I spewed off about 130bb. It was so bad.

I can imagine myself netting about $1K in RB this month, so let's hope I can win at any sort of decent clip and have a solid $2K net month. I only need to make $1K to live really comfortably so anything more than that is just tits +BR boost.

I'm also considering switching to Rush Poker since I'll be getting a PC laptop next week. Not sure. It's addicting and easy to get hands in, but I hear the variance can be rough. My coach is quite good at it and it would probably be a boon for me to try it.

August goals:
-3,500 Daily (about 3.25hrs while 16-tabling), and >100K hands net on the month.
-Watch at least 4 videos a week.

Today was really great. I played well. I only missed one big fold (i kno im that lame) and I won 2.5 buyins. Hardly spewed at all. I'm adjusting my monthly goal to 50K hands because I am playing half as many tables so I'm getting in half as many table hours. I'm pretty much 100% a 100nl reg now, which feels good. I know that this stake is not above me, and there are still a number of extremely terrible regs and there are probably more fish than at 50nl. I've been set/set 6 times which is really weird for only like 13K hands on the month but w/e. I'm doing well and recovering from my 4K hands of absolute spew to start the month. Pretty much on a heater so let it ride. My W/R would be ridic had I not spewed off 3 buyins to start the month GL to Me.

It's strange, because I tilt more at 50nl, I stack off lighter, and I play worse in general. I just feel this responsibility to play well at 100nl (and my results are obviously helped by running good). Meh...that's definitely a mental leak. Anyhoo, playing well, running good. ^This. Setting $$$ amount goals almost never end well. Just set #hrs played or hands goals, they often times end better. Because when you are striving for a $$$ goal, you start focusing much too much on the money you are winning and/or losing and not playing your A game.

Yea I kinda realized that soon after I posted it. I really just need to put my hands in and play as well as possible and, I hear, the money comes after that or something.

Thanks to Boog and oskar for the sweataments! I played meh but hearing ideas and critiques from other players was great. Generally speaking I'm too passive preflop, and I don't valuebet large enough postflop. Boog was nice enough to ship me belugawhales ebook and I got pretty engrossed in it for 2 hrs tonight. I'm 1/4 of the way through but I'll probably try and finish it tomorrow or the next day because it's good so far and I'm fairly excited.

I continue to put in the hands I need to and should clear 50k with no problem, and I've also passed highest monthly hand total at just under 34k thus far. GOGOGO

Sitting on 38K with 6 days remaining. I'm going to actually shoot for 55K for the month, 25K more hands than I've ever played in any month. I'm also getting better, at least that's how I feel, so go me in that regard. Study time.

Also, school starts Thursday but I'm a grad student so I only take 1 actual academic class :D

Meh. Making the big push this weekend. Been BE for like 18K, playing like it too. Still reading, but not really working to apply the information well enough. Will probably only play 1K more hands today then do a lot more study.

I also discovered I function at like 90% getting 3hrs fewer sleep (8->5). Strange but it interesting.

So I'm probably switching to Rush Poker for awhile. The h/hr are just sick and I ordered a PC so I can play Rush and on Absolute Poker while I bonus whore a little bit among other things. I got in 1200 hands/hr 4tabling (2 of 25nl and 2 of 50nl) without a HUD. I didn't check my winnings, all I know is that I was positive at the end of the day. That's a big step for me. Earned about $6/hr in rakeback playing predominantly 25nl for 4.2K hands (3 at 25nl, 1.2 at 50) which projects to something insane at 100nl. Anyways, things are looking okay on the poker front and I'm definitely poised to have my best online month ever, and maybe MY GREATEST ALL TIME. lolrush. Next months volume goals at the bottom.

And yes I know putting in a ton of volume isn't the best way to get better, but I do study almost every day so back the fuck off tyvm.

August Goals:

-100K hands played total (not sure how many I need to play at AP to clear the bonus at a decent rate, but will see).
-Avg of 3 hours spent at the tables every day.
-Spend less time dicking around and more time studying and getting better.
-Try not to play past midnight.

So I'm going to play about 20K hands of 25nlrsh before I move up, simply because I'm not used to the tighter stackoff ranges yet. I've gotten allin and lost 6 times in the last 8K hands and 4 were utter spew after going through some ranges in Stove, while 2 were just coolers. I'm being fairly nitty (14/11) but just having to b/f a whole lot, so it's probably just variance, which of course there is a lot of in Rush. The month is almost over and I'd like to end it on a high note after about 2 weeks of nothing really happening.

Also, crossed the 50K mark today, will easily get 55K this month :D

Maybe its time I took the advice of better players, played fewer tables, and moved up?

Suuuuper excited about my PC coming in tomorrow. Probably only an hour of poker tonight (50nl FR). I'm not going to Rush until I have a functioning HUD because it's really easy to stack off in spots that are atrooocious vs. nits but std. vs every else.

I had an audition yesterday and got essentially no sleep worrying about the results, but I did well so maybe I can get a solid 6hrs tonight :/

Fuck Rush. Variance in HU/HUSNGS and normal FR is enough as is for me. Maybe in a few months when I'm a better player and can profit while earning tons of RB it'll be worth my while, but right now I really need to get better. So, some revised august goals:

-18hrs/week of poker. This sets a pace for about 40K hands on 100nl, which I may adjust later if I see it fit.
-Every hour of it at 100nl or HUSngs (except on AP, where my brm won't allow it. Only 50nl on AP until I grind to 30buyins or so.)
-Finish Easy Game, and reread the entire thing, focusing on leakfinding, and especially fundamentals of exploitation.
-I'd really like to become an active poster again.
-Run a marathon and invent calorie free food.
-Get BB to post pics of women with real tits.

For an update, nothing really. I'm playing a lot of 50nl 6m on AP (earns Status points way faster) and should probably get to Platinum this month, which is good. They have a ton of free money to offer (to lol compensate for the rake?) so I'm just gonna keep grinding.

I'm only on pace for 21K hands which is kinda bad..will grind moar.

Things are going okay. I'm shot taking 100nl on AP with 20buyins, which is 5 buyins from now, and continuing to learn about this 6maments. The regs are pretty terrible but even though it's 6m I don't have to tangle with them too much because 1/3 of every table is a 40/10 fish that stack off with TP on any board texture.

As for hours, I'm a little behind, but can't make it up tonight because I spent all day at the fair walking around and am as tired as fuck.

It really is about just playing solid and showing up with the goods. Bad regs everywhere will stack off with 99 if you 3b them enough, and that's a pretty universal formula for printing money. As my coach put it, "If after a while you're not comfortable getting AI w/JJ in LP, you're doing it wrong."

I'll elaborate because there's a lesson here. I contacted a number of local symphony orchestra's about getting on their sub lists, which is just the lost of names of people they call when a contract player is unavailable for a concert, and lo and behold 8 hrs later I had a job offer for next week. Being proactive, and doing everything you can to succeed is one of the greatest assets of truly successful people, so I'm hoping I can parlay that into something greater.

Been running into sets at 100nl 6m (took shot at 20buyins w/4buyin stoploss, reached stoploss in a little over 1K hands), so I moved back down. I only have about 1 hr to play from ~11-12 pm every night now, which means I really have to be on my game and atm I don't really feel like I'm very solid at that hour. Gotta work something out...

Do what it takes to become solid at that hour...Learn or condition yourself to that time as a time in which you must concentrate. Iunno
