so it turns out that it was patch 1.02a that is fucking up the game for me and tons of other people that was released on 5/31. 1.02b didnt do shit to correct it, so hopefully 1.03 will.
lol Act 2 inferno. I lowered my head and rushed through to Magda but I can see why everyone hates this act. So many mobs have the ability to kill you from off screen.
I thought I saw them lower the cost of gem upgrades to 2 but that doesn't seem to be the case?
Thats not till the next patch rilla.
and fuck everything in act 2. just, fuck it. FUCK IT ALL. Im geared to the point that i can run pretty much any build in act 1 now...but none of that matters. So stupid! Rarghhhhhhhhhh
This will only be for lower level gems, the highest gem you can get in a drop is flawless square (9) and these fixes are only for gems 1-8, you'll only need 2 gems and the gold price will drop significantly for those lower level ones. (I heard 100 gold instead of 20k, but not sure about those numbers)
This patch will come at the end of the month.
You should be able to gear up from the AH rather cheap, to the point where the only big problem in act 2 is Belial. Use smoke screen with move speed passive (tactical advantage), just max range everything constantly and spam nether tentacles and hungering arrow (devouring arrow rune) at them. Put down caltrops with the disable rune and run backwards. Especialy hard mobs you will want to max range, kill them from more than a screen away while caltrops and your Templar to slow them down a bit.
This is good practice anyway because in act 4 you need to kill everything by not even being on the same screen as them, or you insta-die, they all hit 4x as hard as the mobs in act 2. Also use Rain of Vengeance with knockback rune. This is pretty amazing to keep faster mobs at bay. On bosses switch this to stun.
(don't forget to switch Elective Mode on so you can use multiple skills from the same tree)
I just read that they already hot-fixed the mob damage scaling in inferno (used to be +15% dmg per extra player so at 4 man team you were lookingat mobs smacking you around with +45% dmg) but now they will hit the same no matter how many people you have. So if you can't do it alone just run with a decently geared tank and it should become easy.
Yeah, I'm about ready to call it with this one. Apparently they nerfed act 2 and beyond, but I'm doing worse than I was before. I can't find any place to farm or earn gold while enjoying the gameplay and I can't progress forward in the game without the grind.
On the plus side, I made 35 bucks selling an elite pair of boots. Hopefully my 880 dam wand with big vit can make me the other 35ish bucks and I can call it even with Blizzard.
I was really hoping for this to be a game I could play for a while but it's just nowhere enjoyable. Maybe I'll just wait for Boarderlands 2 which is an FPS with shiny random dice role items.
Boarderlands1 was awesome, and i liked their random dice role items a lot better. Ive been waiting for my other friends to catch me in inferno...then maybe i can have fun with them...but it seems like im just gonna wind up going back to leagueoflegends.
A few thoughts/questions:
1) i can't get my latency below 300ms. I'm in thailand but from what I understand this is pretty standard everywhere. This makes gameplay almost unbearable as thats nearly half a second of delay for all my input actions, my reaction time, etc.
2) Does Blizzard think that one yard = one foot? I seriously don't fuckin get this. 10 yard radius should be like 1/3 of the screen and its like barely melee range.
3) In diablo 2, by mid-end game your had enough FRW gear that you didn't run slow as shit. This does not appear to be the case with D3 which seems very stingy with faster run stats. Does this get better?
Yeah, I don't know if it's lag but one of the more annoying bits is how some mobs will queue up their attack animations, I'll put some space between us, they'll finish their attack, and I'll be hit. Especially if I'm running from something fast, it'll get close enough to attack, but by the time its jaws are chomping, it's biting air and still damaging me.
The whole game has a feeling of being turned based instead of responsive, which I didn't like and that was worsened by my drop in attack speed. If those deranged fallen can close the distance and explode before I can even put through a valid command teleport away, I become sad.
And other than 12 move boots, all I ever saw was Tyrael's unique chest armor with 7 more move speed which auctions at 5 times all the gold I've ever seen.
I may pick up the game sometime down the road when they figure out what it is they want me to be doing with all the balance stuff and hopefully so many ilvl 63 items will have been found that the game is saturated with them and I can gear up like a champ.
Zomg number 2. That or everyone is just 5 yards tall.
Yeah, they made it harder for DH's/Wizards for sure. Before the patch I was a 100% glass cannon and got one shot by everything while doing 71k (non-sharpshooter) to 143k (sharpshooter) dps. After the patch, I had to completely adjust my playstyle and invest in some all-res gear. I'm only doing 40k dps now but the game is pretty easy since I can tank a couple hits and spam gloom (I have the natayla set) and recover that hp almost instantly.
Ya I had like 100k gold and my glass cannon DH was getting smashed in Act I (inferno ldo) . I found some cheap resist all stuff and a couple things with armor and it made a big difference. Rilla, you might try picking this up because I was in the same boat a you (about to put game down). I sacrificed some DPS but I can actually survive.
I only have a little over 150 resist all + 52% damage reduction from armor (you can get enchantress companion and she has an armor buff). Weeee not getting 1 hit by trash mobs and even elites. Like Bob, I use shadow power + gloom but I'm not rich enough to afford natalya set ;) so my disc isn't unlimited. Even in Act 1, I just run away from elites like fucking fast frog with vortex, fast, refelect damage, invulnerable etc. I think if I can raise my DPS from 35k to 40k or 45k I can just blast them.
I think this is a pretty good Act I farm video - Diablo 3 - Inferno Magic Find run - 15-20 Possible Elites in 15-20 minutes - YouTube
Act One 9-2
- North Highlands: Watch Tower L1 and L2 (It's NW of the Waypoint, restart game if it doesn't spawn). Small area and I've seen up to 4 elites. Sometimes there is an elite when you first get to North Highlands too.
Cemetery Of The Forsaken - There is at least 1 in each defiled crypt and I've run into as many as 3 in one crypt.
Festering Woods - 2 guaranteed mobs in Warriors Rest and Crypt of the Ancients. I think 1 guaranteed in Festering woods and I've run into as many as 3.
Cathedral Level 3 - Might be a quick one just north of WP, if not go to Lerorics Manor.
Leorics Manor - According to Reddit - "Go outside, 1 pack always spawns, also cross the bridge for 1-3 Elites"
Probably not as efficient but I also add Halls of Agony Lvl 2 so I can exit and get to Cursed Hold. There is at least one elite pack in there + the Warden who is super easy and drops tons of shit when you have 5 stacks. I don't go to Butcher becuz w/ 1.03 he takes forever to killlllll.
