Save it for the lolpics thread
oh right, i forgot about the lolpics thread
Any of you Brits going to see the Jaguars 49ers game at Wembley Stadium this weekend? The Jaguars owner Shad Kahn also owns Fulham FC.
Party was fun, even though there were less people dressed up than I assumed. Is okay, the dude the organized it and bought everyone a drink was dressed up in a fuzzy bear outfit. I was introduced to a drink called "kenny chesney", and I was pleasantly surprised. It was lovely. There were so many cameras and very little room to hide. Costume was a hit. I get drunk/tipsy way too easy. Now I'm just curious as to how many pics are gonna be uploaded by how many different photographers.
I'm sorry but Jeremy Brett is the best Sherlock Holmes of all time. He actually acts like Sherlock does in the books. How come this was never shown on US tv? This is an awesome series.
Sherlock Holmes: I would like the key to the cellar.
Caretaker: What for?
Sherlock: To get inside.
I wish reality shows would stop. Belgian tv is equally dilluted by them as the rest of the world, it's frustrating. Not that I watch a lot of tv, but because of trash like this being on all the time I'm not even motivated to watch anymore. Reality shows are so cheap to make compared to quality productions and too many people keep watching them, like this it'll never end.
Why is there not a larger effort to shame selfies? It's fine if you're on your own and want a picture of yourself with something but I can't believe how many guys take pictures of themselves around the house like this just to have a photo of themselves taken.
We used to laugh at this kind of person!!
I love the IT Crowd and never heard about it until somebody mentioned it online. That show is hilarious. This Jen is the internet. Maurice Moss is my favorite. Ab Fab was pretty good too. At least we got to see that occasionally on PBS as part of the britcom lineup.
He's like a living example of the Dunnington-Kruger effect.
dunning
So I'm challenging a parking ticket. I'm guilty. But fuck them. I'm taking the disproportionate charge levied line. Wish me luck.
If you've never seen The IT Crowd watch that 'this Jen is the internet' video. Super funny.
Damn, dude.

This Russel Brand, fellow. He makes himself hard to hate. He's personable like Ali was quick.
Brand's naive view of politics and history is frustrating
Actually I mostly agree with the interviewer.
Me too.
Democratic representation is powerful and realpolitik is a thing. You'd think he thought Britain was never a monarchy and that the pie in the sky is real
He's witty, articulate, and unrelenting-- so it's easy to nod your head to what he says and laugh at his jabs. And while I think there is a roll for this sort of broad ambiguous anger at "the system", in the end we need solutions, not just lists of what's wrong. If when probed for details on the proposed revolution, you become evasive, you don't deserve to be listened to.
He really isn't witty or articulate though. He just chats bollocks and throws in big words to appear clever.
It's not that he's easy to roll with, it's that he's hard to roll over. He's like one of those heavy-bottomed tackling dummies you may have played with when you were younger - even lifting them from the ground doesn't upset them for long.
I agree with your posture (that you need to bring some substance), so does the interviewer. All I can tell from this is that if someone lets him try, he'll campaign for any idea out there knowing he can full well deal with the consequences that may come. And that's interesting.
edit: When he delivers this line to this specific guy, you know you're dealing with someone who knows how to.

I like Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding. Is Russell Brand funny? Comcast has like 400 channels. Why don't we get foreign stations?
Do you guys get HBO etc in the UK? Is it the same lineup as here in the states?

My favorite channel right now is Investigation Discovery. Non-stop murder mystery docudramas. I especially like Det. Joe Kenda: Homicide Hunter. He'll look straight in the camera and deadpan something like, "Some people like to kill people. And it's my job to put them in a cage." You go Joe!
http://investigation.discovery.com/t...nter-joe-kenda
I was thoroughly impressed with Brand and the points he makes. He's extremely articulate, extremely clever, and while I think he's overly optimistic the points he make are both brilliant in their simplicity (the current systems causes massive economic differences and voting changes very little apart from the name of the party in power).
I don't see how you can agree with the overall points he makes, even if on the more realistic scale there isn't really anything that can be done
That weird moment where you realize that you're fucking terrified and excited as fucking shit and are kind of planning shit in your head in steps, I think that's the moment where you realize, "wow, I'm adult. "
Sadly it took 26 years for this to fully, completely hit. I've dabbled in adult life, and now it's hitting me in the face and being like HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY LOOK HEY HEY HEY DO THIS AND THIS AND THIS AND THIS AND HEY THIS TOO.
deep breaths ftw.
FSU - NC State is just ridiculous
I'm watching that show Aftermath: Population Zero and apparently if the power goes out for any length of time the chemical factories are going to explode and kill everything with chlorine gas and similar such.
That Kitaro guy is pretty good at the keyboard music.
"When I see happy couples during Christmas, I wish they would die." - cuddle hostess
I hate how everything on the internets I see I've already seen on reddit and any discussion or comments I make is simply a regurgitation of what Ive read from more funny or insightful people than me on reddit
There are a lot of people on reddit
I did some scouring of the Japan population/sex issue a little bit ago. Youths are not getting married because of traditional sexist values. Husbands are expected to fully provide for their families, so if a Japanese man does not make enough money, he won't date. Wives are expected to act subservient to their husbands, and because Japanese women have other opportunities in the modern world, they seldom choose marriage. Additionally, Japan's taboos about sex are cumbersome. For example, it's commonplace for bathing before and after the act. Combining these issues are why I think so many Japanese have odd sexual tastes and little desire for relationships
As usual, the problem is imposing thoughtless tradition in a changing world
Tradition is important though, otherwise people would have to think about things and that's not as easy as being told what to think.
FYP.
From a societal point of view, cultural mannerisms streamline day to day life.
Take whatever your sense of politeness is... that is an arbitrary set of boundaries on your behavior that will determine how people react to you. Knowing these rules allow you a rapid expression of your mood and intentions to those around you... in essence giving you a whole set of tells to use to your advantage. But the lines are different in different cultures... what is offensive to one culture is benign to another... so the system of tells is arbitrary, and sets up for rapid, streamlined interactions.
It all goes wrong when you have a group of starving people who are banned from eating whatever foods for cultural reasons, usually based on archaic illnesses that are no longer a threat.
My point is that traditions aren't about being lazy and not thinking... not always, at least... they're about building a society that has an increasing amount to accomplish in each day, and streamlining the interactions of those people on a large scale, for the sake of efficiency.
Or I'm completely mad... there's always that.
Jacksonville has scored a touchdown!
I like the idea of giving your weight in stone. It makes you sound so light.
@MMM you didn't fix my post, you just expanded on it. In fact I think from your fist sentence you are wrong, it isn't because it's efficient, it's because it's easy.
Let's get into an argument about how the words efficient and easy can mean basically the same thing but we can define them apart based on very little.
EDIT - I spoke poker today with two people who are complete fish, not whilst we were playing just two people brought the topic up independently so I thought I'd add my 2c. I've never been dismissed by such bullshit in my life. I got told they'd lost a few grand, so I told them poker is agame of skill not luck so don't expect to win it back. I then got told poker isn't game of skill After explaining it to my mate who isn't an idiot I got told by people "I don't class math as a skill"
^^ Don't tap the tank dude. Ever.
PS: your mate sounds like he's too immature to admit to being wrong.
I didn't explain that very well, it was my mates friend who was the idiot. My mate understood when I explained to him. I also got told that he was playing live and had 4 of a kind Aces and folded on the river because he was certain the guy had a straight flush. It's a shame it was such a fabricated story otherwise I would have at least got to laugh at it.
Usually I'd have just been like meh, but I thought I'd be a nice person and try and stop the guy burning any more of his money.
It amazes me how there are groups of people who hand around together who all just chat absolute bollocks. Like not a grain of truth in anything that they say. They just talk at each other, each person trying so desperate to be something they're not.
Your new avatar doesn't reflect reality. Please change it back.
I used to play sng's and did pretty well because they're basically solved and I ran well. So I mentioned in the 2p2 sng forum that I had played a guy whose sharkscope had him down 30 grand playing sng's. I didn't mention his name just said that was sad. Then this one poster gets on me about it takes time to learn and 30 grand is not a lot for tuition etc etc. He also said think about how much it costs to buy golf equipment. ???
I just shut up because he's so wrong it's hard to know where to begin.
PS I vote for the happy avatar.
It's finally nice in Florida now. Highs in the 70's. That's the 20's for you Europeans. Took out the comforter and been sleeping with the window open. This is the best time of year down here.
My standard approach for a long time has been to simply state the facts as I know them. Plant a seed, you know. Then let it go. If I really dislike someone though, I won't even bother to do that, but that doesn't happen very often.
Everybody has their own crap to work through and that can limit what we're capable of understanding.
Canadians don't get offended. Particularly by americans.
Does it really matter if you offend a Canadian? You'll never know anyway.
Thanks for Rush. I was listening to A Farewell to Kings last night. One of their best definitely.
What's the plural of moose? Do you guys really ride them to work? Do polar bears make good pets? What happened to all the penguins?
Now that was funny.
It wasn't, but I found somewhere you might fit in: http://www.reddit.com/r/dadjokes
Bookmarked. I love it.

I'm between freaking out and being so happy I feel like rainbows are going to come out of my ears.
Time to hone those ninja data skills. Data Analysis mooc starts today.
That actually looks interesting. Would probably be good for my software dev career to take that.
I was referring to the pictures. They go in the Lol thread. They aren't "randomness"
If you start banning pictures from the randomness thread, it becomes a lot less random.
Cote de Pablo is very pretty. Maybe I should ask her out.
So... you think you know what 'random' means, then?
What is randomness? An apparent lack of order?
What is order?
If I had an infinite number of identical RNG's... it would be perfectly random if 1 of them always output the same number. (Not to imply that infinity is a number)
Whenever I try to explain probability and statistics concepts to people, I always start with the sentence,
"Let's just assume that 'random' means what you and I think it means, and avoid all the stuff that keeps us from doing math."
i knew mmm would come in here and argue semantics.
I try to organize shit too much, I think. I'm not sure if I'm over-planning, or just getting ducks in a row.
I'm not really fond of the waiting game, especially when it comes to being called back about something rather important and life changing, but I gotta do it. Even if it makes me feel like I'm on the edge of an anxiety induced seizure.
Fuuuuuckkkkkkk.
Abelard: Hi Cote! You're very pretty. Wanna go out?
Cote: *giggles* Sure what'd you have in mind?
Abelard: I thought we'd go to Applebee's and take in a movie.
Cote: Sounds great. It's a date.
That evening after the movie:
Cote: *brushes hair back* Well Abe I had a great time tonight.
Abelard: I know you did baby.
Cote: So will I see you again?
Abelard: Sure. Say you want to go back to my place?
Cote: I dunno. I have to work in the morning.
Abelard: Don't worry. It'll only take 15 minutes.
Cote: In that case...
[Abelard sexes up Cote de Pablo til she passes out from too many orgasms.]
Next morning:
Cote: Oh Abe that was the best ever. Could you sex up all my Hollywood friends?
Abelard: Sure if I'm not too busy grinding 10nl.
.
It's so much more malevolent when delivered with a smile.
Nope. Not modeling gig, though I was offered a job modeling down in Charlotte last weekend, but I have no way of getting there or back, and I'd have to be social and not awkward.
Anyway - yeah, uh, it's more under the lines of the dorkwads bit.
Reminding myself to breathe is sometimes slightly difficult.
I told her she looks like Rodney Dangerfield; she disagreed

Being compared to Rodney Dangerfield is a win. Besides she's good looking so it doesn't really hurt her. brows/nose r identical
