Interesting hand.
This hand was pretty interesting.
As far as the postflop play is concerned, I slowed down once the ace hit since this was a likely card for him to have, and then the jack on the turn seemed likely at the time given that he checked the ace (I suspected a hand like Q-J when he checked the flop), but I'm not so sure about this anymore. I probably should've bet on the turn. The only reason I bet the river was to avoid a showdown. I'd been stealing a fair amount of pots and didn't want the table to see the kinds of hands I'd been raising with.
When I bet the river, his huge raise seemed like an attempted rebluff, so I called. I couldn't understand him making this raise with any legitimate hand, and his long "contemplative" pause seemed suspicious as well.

Im not much of a caller with junk hands - id rather be betting. If your read was that strong then good job, but make sure you're not trying too hard to pick off bluffs because it will hurt you bad.

I rarely make calls like this, but in this particular situation, his raise seemed pretty illegitimate. I knew my bet on the river would probably be interpreted as a bluff, and that an opponent probably wouldn't see any value in coming way over the top with a real hand. He would probably either call or make a small raise if he had a hand.
Also, his pause seemed suspicious to me. What's the decision if he actually has a hand here? The only situation that makes much sense is if he is thinking about a bluff.

BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUCH BALLS
very very good read saxton, i'm impressed. I'm sure he gave you some lip for calling that.
I am weary of people that 'take there time' when it's there turn to bet. A lot of the time it's an act to show weakness when they have strength. however checking that all the way to the river it looked very illegitamate to me too.
I still think 5's is so low that any pp could of beat u plus the entire board lol. good read once again. a call i would not of made...
