SO,
I had recently taken out ALL of my poker money out of all of my PP/skins accounts in order to fund an anniversary present.
NOW,
I have around 100 bucks to restart my bankroll.
The question is:
I only play SNGs and tourneys and I have only played at PP/skins before.
Should I
a) Sign up at Real Poker Training, NSXT2's site, before the prices go up, and study up ALOT on poker.
b) Start playing SNGs again using my 100 dollars. Then the question becomes what site, and consequently what level.
I would lean toward putting it all into your bankroll. Todd's site is good, but it's not much help to you if you can't afford to actually play. Why can't you just use $50 for BR and $50 for your subscription though? Deposit into a site that has $1 or $2 SNGs to build the roll.
OR make 50 real quick and then get realpokertraining.

i feel that through knowledge, you will gain alot more in the long run. why risk blowing $100 experimenting yourself, when you can read somebody else's opinons, past mistakes, strategies, etc.
on that note, i would not recommend getting nsxt2's services at this time if you only have a $100 BR. instead, invest $20 on either Slansky's Theory of Poker.....or better yet, Harrington's guide on NL tourneys (not sure if i spelled the author's names right.....sorry if i didn't). when you build your bankroll up to $150-200, it will be a good time to "tweak" your game by dropping $50 and watching NSXT2's videos.
personally, i would highly recommend playing at stars. alot of people complain that stars doesn't have alot of fish......but the only way you're going to improve your game is to play w/ people your level and above and learning from their tatics. as stated before, i strongly feel that knowlege is more valuable than money......with knowlege, comes a big pay day in the future.

i agree that the only way to truely master and tweak your play to a winning strategy is to experiment on your own and figure out your own strengths and weaknesses.....and fixing, enforcing them. BUT, why make completely bonehead mistakes that could cost you HUNDREDS of dollars, when you could just read a book and learn basic COMMON mistakes of others?Quote:

again, stressing the obvious. we are all students of the game. books are there for a reason. they are there to show you past senarios, past mistakes, opinions, and insights of the BEST POKER PLAYERS IN THE WORLD. your statement about how poker books "cannot help you gain knowlege" is like saying "soupie's MTT guide will not help my MTT play because only through blowing $500 on playing 100 different MTTs over and over and figuring out the mistakes on my own....will i be able to learn how to play MTTs". instead you need to look at it like "by reading soupie's guide, i will be able to minimize my losses during my learning process by not repeating common past mistakes."
books and guides are there to minimize your losses in the learning process and should not be thrown out the window as a waste of time (or how you're making it sound like).
i will be willing to put a $500 bet down on the following:
two brand new players. each starts with a $200 bankroll
player #1, jumps right into online poker w/o ever reading a single guide or book.
player #2, invests $100 of his bankroll on 4 books (slansky TOP, HoH, slansky on hold'em, and supersystems) and after reading the 4 books begans playing with his now $100 bankroll
I guarantee that player #2 will have a larger bankroll in 4-6months than player #1.
books are an investment to help you avoid the COMMON downfall of many new players. of course, after you read the books, in order to perfect your play - you must play for real in order to "get the full value of your mistakes". But you cut down your losses by an incredible amount.
think about it - ToP is $20. if you can learn just ONE thing that will help you win ONE more SnG, you just got the book for free - but the knowlege that you learned from the book....will stay forever and continue to make you money.
