Thoughts? Predictions?
The city is going crazy. There were so many screaming people in the streets... even in the snow. I think the Patriots are too good to lose...
Two questions:
-How much will the Patriots be favored by?
-Will T Owens be able to come back and play and if so then how effective will he be?
Believe it or not... way back in August (preseason) a group of 9 buddies and I picked who we thought would make it to the superbowl, we each threw in $20. I chose Philly VS. New England. I'm gonna have bragging rights on this for years :P
1. Right now, they are 7 pt. favorites.Quote:

Is Ty Law out for the season? I forgot.
I don't think the eagles can hang with Pats. They looked awful good yesterday. I don't think I could take Philly even with a 7 pt. spread and if TO is back. His conditioning will not likely be up to par, IMHO. I have not heard anything one way or the other on this other than he will likely play. New England's defense I think will be the difference in the game.
Even if Ty Law is not there, The Pats showed us that they hae depth. They Crushed the best QB and Best Offensive Team, giving only 3 pts. Then they did exactly what they want with the Steelers.
The Eagles are a great team, a good defense, but Pittsburgh had one of the best defense of the league. I don't think Trotter will be able to stop them. The Patrtiots are too good overall to loose.
PATS 34 eagles 24
I don't think the game will be quite that high scoring. You said it yourself, these are two great defensive teams. Would you expect any team without a great defense to make the superbowl. The colts had all the offense in the world and couldn't make it out of the divisional playoffs.Quote:

Well, Pittsburgh and NE were to great defense team, and we had 68 points.
Both them, NE and PHI had good offense too. Anyway, we will see that in two weeks :)
Can't wait, every year, my dad have a SuperBowlparty with poker starting at 15h plus the game on a wide screen. the best day of the year FOOTBALL + POKER !!!![/quote]
Ty Law is healthy and Richard Seymour (DT) should be at 100%....not sure if TO will be there for Philly...with or with out him though my prediction is New England to come out on top close scoring though...will be low scoring
GOOOOOO Eagles!

Ty Law is out for the year on IR. But, it doesn't matter the Pats will win again!
Ty Law won't be playing, but the makeshift secondary has proven to be more than adequate (see Pats vs. Colts).Quote:

That was my guess as welllQuote:

The Eagles have lost Chad Lewis for the Superbowl.
Watch the line move up towards 9 or 10 in the next few days.
I agree w/ superdave, I think the spread will move up... I think the Pat's can cover 7 no problem.
That's awesome Spook. I would have never been able to do that.Quote:

Ya right. I live here and I can gauran f'n tee ya they won't even make the playoffs.. again...
BTW Spook, your table is very cool. I want to make one someday.
superdave and Tyson,
I hope you guys are right. I just bet $20 on the Patriots at -7:
BET PLACED
Football - NFL Lines Pointspread
SUPER BOWL XXXIX @ Alltel Stadium - Jacksonville,FL.
New England Patriots -7 (-115), Feb 06/05@6:25p
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Risk $20.00 to win $17.39
If it moves to -10 or -11 then I'll bet $20 on the Eagles and hope to hit both bets(Patriots by 8 or 9).
I wonder if the Red Sox used up all of Mass.'s Good Luck? I mean karma is not infinite. :P
Hard to pick against the Pats and Bilicheck(sp?), and Brady's what 8-0 in the postseason now?
Pats by at least 10.
(Nice pic, wildwest :) )
I gotta go with the Eagles.
PHI - 17
NE - 10
Both teams' defense is stronger than the other's offense. It's going to be a tight game, even if the score is higher. I think the Eagles are the hungrier team.
I just said the spread would move, not that I would bet on the Pats.
Love the Pats to win, but with that spread *Historically* they will not cover.
Good to get in at the 7 if you dig the Pats, though. Just have to see what this T.O. bonehead is going to do now.
Tonight on ESPN they were saying the Eagles are better without T.O. What a crock of shit. It reminds me of when people said the Magic did better without Shaq or when people said the Knicks did better witout Ewing.
Just because McNabb's QB Rating was 104 in the regular season and jumped up to 111 in the playoffs without TO does not mean the team as a whole is better without TO.
I hope the superbowl is a good, close game this year. The Eagles have a great defense and unlike Pittsburgh they can come back from behind.
Eric,
My sports guy tells me that the Pats should cover easily, but I'm going to tease it to 6 points, just in case.
Pats by 20 baby! Owens or no Owens. Our defense is just that good and Brady couldn't be any more clutch if he tried.
What's everyone doing for the game?
We plan on having some people over and getting hoagies and wings and such.
Owens is cocky and I dont think hes going to be 100%... NE will easily take this one... Personally Im going to a party my parents are having and some other house my gf was invited too. Football parties are great, the best part has to be the food.
I'm watching it in bed, as it'll be late in Britain :)Quote:

I am hosting my annual Super Bowl bash. About 50-60 people coming. Most are Pats fans (I am in New England) but i am not. The last few years it has become almost unbearable to watch the Super Bowl with them
Well. It's all said and done. And if not for a decimated secondary. They would have covered tonight. You may all start talking about the Pats dynasty now.
I thought Freddie Mitchell had something for my boy Harrison? How poetic that it was Harrison who sealed the deal for the Pats.
Phuck Philly. God hates Terrell Owens. Which is too bad, because I like McNabb and Westbrook. They are deserving of winning it all.
And yes, Terrell is an awesome player yada, yada, I'm drinking haterade, bippity, boppity, boo. He dosen't deserve to win the big one. EVER! Class triple A jerk is what he is. He seems to forget that he was the one crying like a little beotch a few years ago when he made a crucial catch for the niners. Now he's mister man? I only wish Harrison had a chance to give him one of his patented helmet to helmet knock out hits. Maybe next year. :(

Sniff....sniff......Do I smell sour grapes? :P I'll give it to you. Your at least taking it like a man this time around. The whole state of Pa. got pwned by the Pat's. They r a g00t teem. Thar wicked g00t.
