Kid 2: 10d 7d

since they both have an Ace high flush, do they split? or do they go to the kicker in which this case Kid 1 would win?

You have to play the best 5 cards you can.
Kid one's hand is :ad: :kd: :9d: :8d: :3d:
Kid two's hand is :ad: :td: :8d: :7d: :3d:
So Kid one has a higher (better) flush, and he wins
The term kicker is misleading in this case. The cards they hold are both used in making the hand. In another situation:
Player 1 has :ad: :8d:
Player 2 has :as: :9s:
Board is :ac: :ks: :kh: :7c: :3h:
Player one's hand is :ac: :ad: :ks: :kh: :8d:
Player two's hand is :ac: :as: :ks: :kh: :9s:
Player two would win because he has the best hand either of them can make.
If we change the board by one card though...
:ac: :ks: :kh: :jc: :3h:
Now...
player one's hand is :ac: :ad: :ks: :kh: :jc:
player two's hand is :ac: :as: :ks: :kh: :jc:
They both hold hands of the same value and they will split the pot.

I think your answer is wrong, the Ace plays and a flush is simply five cards of the same suit, if there is an Ace on the board then you have a flush to the Ace, it doesn't matter what's in between, at least, that's how i play. Am i wrong?

Just to clarify what if:
Player a: K,5,4,8,2
Player b: Q,J,4,8,2
All same suit, player a would win correct?
