Tight Play or Just plain stupid?

I was a little gun shy at this point in the night from some previous encounters gone bad at the table. Reviewing the hand history I think I probably should have called but I still think there is an case for the fold??

Raise Preflop

On the Flop you should have either bet or check-raised

I would have checked again (if you check-raised on the Flop) to see what the others do.

But you should have called this down to the river.

Knowing the result kinda taints the analysis a bit, and not knowing the players makes it tougher, etc., but here are my thoughts:

Preflop: I would prob have raised slightly pre-flop.

Flop: You have every reason to think you are ahead--and in the remote chance you are not you need to find out sooner than later, so lead out and bet. If you chose to limp in pre-flop, I would have bet $1 on the flop to feel out the table. Aces probably re-raises back at you with his nice flop, so you know you might have trouble. Balkers probably calls all but a big raise with his 99.

Turn: You have every reason to think you are still ahead, so you should bet again, until you feel aggression back. Not sure why Aces didn't bet out with two suited out there...either sneaky or fishy.

River: A bit of a scare but probably more of a scare for them, since you are in the blind. Your check basically told them you didn't have a 3, so that raise by balkers was a nice value bet (value you should have taken). If they raise, I probably fold, but they probably won't. They will both call you down, and you win.

With respect, I would ask what you were waiting for before you bet? Did you have a history with these players, were they tricky, or are you extra careful out of position?

unless you read a player with a higher pocket pair than you well you only read wrong. But next time raise preflop and cont. to raise. Unless you suspect someone with a higher pair and such.

I know...I know, but I've just started playing online and the BR isn't healthy enough YET for me to endure the swings of NL while I'm clearing my bonus.

Honestly, I got burned by Balker slow playing Trips 2 hands earlier and I think it was still too fresh in my mind. I did recover though and made a very respectable increase to my BR the rest of the night. That much closer to being able to play NL with the Big Boys!! :wink:

You have the over pair and no reason to think your hand isn't good.

The SSHE theory for the river here, and I agree though I am not a limit player:
When the river raise comes to you, there are 10 dollars in the pot, and you need to call 2. You only need to be more than 20% sure that your hand is good here.

Also, I think if you really didn't think your hand was good, the time to get out was after the turn.

three suit flop with an over pair and you checked?! Should have come out with guns firing! Maybe even go AI. Oh wait this is a limit game is it? Should have raised preflop. Bet on flop, reraise any raise you get.

Folding on the River! with a hopeless board like that! What were you thinking! Obviously not how to make money! :P just joking

Bad mistake on your part but you will learn from it and next time take money of that hopeless guy who called with a pair of eights (he had 8-2! what was HE thinking! even IF someone else was betting on their pair of eights then in all probability they are going to outkick him!)
