I have to chuckle when I read these :)
So we all play poker and grind numbers and compare notes. Then Rippy shows up, posts a few amazing hands where he takes out QQ and KK with a 74o. And we all sit back and say, "Awww, that's our Rippy."
But he is here to teach us a lesson. He is extreme in his views, but they are right on. Play you position. Play your opponents. Poker is about more than cards. You have to look at all the variables. Even whn Fnord posts a lot of hand histories he will add in a note like, "UTG+1 is TAggy" or "Very sloppy post-flop player" This is because he knows who he is playing and that is as important as the cards.
Sometimes someone will slow-play effectively and you will fall into the trap. But that is no different than the times that you play effectively and someone sucks you out with a bad hand.
Just take your basis of a number cruncher and add a little bit of exploitation and you will reach the next level toward poker perfection.
Sorry, just wanting to put this hand history into some perspective.
