Quick question about rules

I've been playing with these rules for NL Texas Hold'em:

One burn card before the flop.
A friend told me that three is the correct amount to burn before the flop. Is that correct?

What is the WSOP rules?


A maximum of three raises is allowed.
I've read that it is unlimited raises. Which is correct?

1. There is one burn card before the flop, one burn card before the turn and one burn card before the river.

2. Unlimited raises in NL Holdem, maximum of 3 raises in Limit Holdem.

I've never read the WSOP rules. But I'm sure they exist. However, I did read the rules for the EPT when michael went to London.

Basically it was rule after rule about how much logo-ed gear you can wear. How many logos can be present and other specifics of promotions for the EPT. I wouldn't doubt that the WSOP is the same thing. WIth poker following "house rules"

and yes, house rules would include 1 burn card before the flop is delt, 1 before the turn, and one before the river.

While we're on the basic rules, how do your games come down on this question?

A raise must be as much as or more than the bet that it acts against. True or False?

I've played games of both kinds. The APL and online games say "True" -- but this guy's house that I play at says false.

Obviously, if someone bets 500 and you raise 25 you're pretty much wearing a T-shirt that says "put my sorry ass all in". But is it against the rules?

From Robert's Rules of Poker, Section 3, General Poker Rules, Subsection 5, Betting and Raising:

6. Any wager must be at least the size of the previous bet or raise in that round, unless a player is going all-in.

Really???!! I thought the minimum you could raise was the BB, but that it didn't matter how big the raise before you was...interesting

The bets have no effect on subsequent rounds. The minimum bet in the next round would be the minimum bring-in. So in NL, you're talking the big blind, or in Limit, it'd depend on which street you're on, either the big blind or a big bet.

Ok the min bet to start a round is the BB but say BB is 10 and someone raises 100 before you, you must make it at least 200 is you wish to raise you are not allowed to raise it to 120. Then the next round its starts over. Say someone raises 10 then another raises 10, since the last raise was 10 you can still raise 10 and make it 30 to go.
